Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

All done! Warm up, box fit, ultimate fat, burner, abs and some stretch.

I'm now set for the day. Grin

Raised buttocks -get you! WinkGrin Honestly, well done for putting the effort in to get a raised bum. I don't think I can see a difference yet, fingers crossed I will do soon. DH hasn't made any comments eithet, but DD did say I look only a little bit fat rather than alot fat Confused

Moodykat · 25/03/2015 06:59

Morning all. Feeling knackered this morning so am giving it a miss.

Might do some later. Maybe. If not, it really doesn't matter because I'll be back on it tomorrow!

Cafeconleche · 25/03/2015 10:16

Morning Tuna Team! warm-up (obvs, but it all counts...), fat burner, tone and sculpt, stretch. What I love about this DVD is that all I ever commit to doing is one 7 min workout, but once I've started exercising I'll usually do at least one more. And if I only end up doing one workout THAT'S BLOODY FANTASTIC TOO!! because it's called '7 Minute Fit' and ANYTHING over and above that is a complete bonus. The point is it works. I still feel the effect 24 hours later and my arms and arse are definitely shaping up. Thanks stevienickstophat for kicking this whole thing off! Exercise threads are not usually my bag - too much hard work in every sense. 3 cheers for teeny, tiny steps in the right direction.

BuzzardBird · 25/03/2015 10:19

velma calm down a bit, you're making me feel lazy! Grin

Managed warm up, abs, tone and sculpt and stretch, now have sciatica in my right bum cheek so doing a bit more stretching. In the past I would have lay down and hit the codeine...see, improvement? Grin

Must start work and stop procrastinating...

MrsMcGregor · 25/03/2015 10:39

Morning! You have all been so busy and dedicated! I took Saturday and Sunday off, exercised Monday, skipped Tuesday (freezer repair man booked in a huge time slot and Sod's law, he'd have arrived when I was red, breathless and sweaty!). Anyway, forced myself back to it this morning despite being knackered and having a really sore throat with a cold starting ... what a martyr! Warm up, fat burner and tone and sculpt done. Feeling feeble!

I love this thread and the encouragement ... I know I wouldn't have done anything today were it not for the fact that this thread makes me want to keep going.

Now, coffee calls .... and housework.

PeaceOfWildThings · 25/03/2015 10:54

Day 3 of this workout plan for me today. I was feeling a little sore and didn't want to, but now I feel great and so glad I did it. :)

Buzz when I found out I could use stretches to deal with my (mild) sciatica, it was like getting my life back. The first time I tried it was just before our first family holiday (cottage near sea at Easter) and I can still remember running on the beach and doing a happy dance that I could even move! Grin

Coffee sounds good!

MrsMcGregor · 25/03/2015 13:14

Well done Peace .... off to have a look at your link now!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 25/03/2015 13:42

Well done everyone! I wish I could be motivated today but have awful period pains. I know you're meant to exercise to help them but I can't think of anything worse.

I'm debating starting an evening class which is yoga, pilates and meditation. Bit worried though because I am very unflexible!

BuzzardBird · 25/03/2015 18:14

Wow, stevie you're famous! Just seen your name in my MN newsletter!

bimandbam · 25/03/2015 18:51

I didn't do the school run on foot today as dd was late getting ready cos apparently a y6 needs immaculate hair to go out the door.

But I did do a nice walk to the ducks and back which is about a mile. And tomorrow I am hopefully going to start the dvd. Got an electrician coming in the morning thrn hoping ds has a nap after so I can chuck myself around. Then doing a walk at some point. And starting sw.

I will be thin by the time I go on holiday. I will I will I will.

stevienickstophat · 25/03/2015 21:23

I saw that! Was chuffed Blush

Also double BlushBlush as I haven't done anything since Sunday.

But I'll be back in it tomorrow Grin

Good morning! Warm up and tone and sculpt done this morning. Still feeling a bit too Bleurgh for the more energetic ones!

Nice jeans stevie!

velmadinkly · 26/03/2015 08:53

I think its going to be a rest day today for me. My hip felt a bit clicky yesterday and I do know I've already got a problem with it, so I didn't want to exacerbate it by doing any more squats.

However, depending how it feels during the day today I might have a go tonight.

I don't get the newsletter, how do I get the newsletter? I want to see Stevie!

stevienickstophat · 26/03/2015 10:59

For the first time in ages, my lower back is stiff today.

My own fault for slacking this week. Back to it this afternoon.Hmm

OP posts:
AmazonGrace · 26/03/2015 12:29

Afternoon!

Feck! Just done two new ones. Warm up, ultimate fat burner, tone & sculpt with some extra squats for good measure! Definitely need smaller weights for the tone & sculpt!

I think we should all by a pair of M&S flares and give anyone else wearing them the nod Wink

AmazonGrace · 26/03/2015 12:30

Buy Blush ffs! Still huffing and puffing!

bimandbam · 26/03/2015 12:42

Afternoon all.

Just trying to summon the energy to get ofd the sofa and go for a walk. Its not very nice outside. Cold and windy so its a bit of a struggle. But I ought to go now then I can chill out with a nice coffee when we are back.

I was planning on walking around the lake which takes a good hour so is plenty of excercise but keeping thinking of excuses. Someone come and motivate me!

On the plus side I weigh 2lb less than what I did on Monday. Probably just water but still. Its a start. Just another billiontyfour to go. Sigh.

BuzzardBird · 26/03/2015 13:33

Even though I have been to a hospital appointment today and I should be working instead of MNing I have squeezed in fat burner and stretch as I am frightened if I stop I won't start again and everything will seize up.

Must. keep. going...

stevienickstophat · 26/03/2015 15:03

Kick up the arse needed here, please Hmm

OP posts:
AmazonGrace · 26/03/2015 15:06

Kick up the arse needed here, think I shouldn't have done as much with a UTI on the go, thought I was coming to the end of it but hurting again now, boo!

Moodykat · 26/03/2015 15:24

Amazon - it sounds like you need a rest, not a kick up the arse!

stevie - c'mon woman! What is blocking you?

PeaceOfWildThings · 26/03/2015 15:33

Amazon, you do not need a kick up the arse, you have an infection, sixk note for you! Rest! That's an order! Grin

Stevie, do something! Don't try and overdo it, stick to just keeping your back mobile and decide this will be for the rest of your days. OK maybe not this exact same DVD, but exercise to some degree or another. It all counts! For your back, when you are feeling up to it.. :
7 minutes of pilates for back stabilisation
[http://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/lower-back-stretches-for-sciatica-pain stretches for sciatica]]
stretches for stiff lower back, 18 mins
I haven't looked at these yet, but I'm impressed with most of what they do.

PeaceOfWildThings · 26/03/2015 15:35

stretches for sciatica

BuzzardBird · 26/03/2015 17:53

Oh Peace, you are a star! That has saved me Googling Grin
