Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Peace, financially I can afford it but time wise probably not!

stevienickstophat · 22/03/2015 09:30

Morning all!

Brazil nuts are high in selenium, and cocoa is a fruit, so no worries there, Buzzard

Sorry you're not well, Moodykat Sinus pain is horrid. Your body is too busy fighting off horrible germs to put up with being flung around the living room. Rest is the only answer.

We need to fling away the guilt. No "I was crap" or "I've been rubbish" for us.

Repeat after me:

"I've been too busy doing other things, but as soon as I have time, I'll be on it like a car bonnet."

"My busy life means I just ran out of time. I can't wait to get back to it."

"I felt like having a lovely relax instead. When I feel like grabbing my tuna, I will."

No Davina for me today, but I can report I have lost 3lb in the last week. I haven't done Davina because I slept late to try and get this cold to go. The First defence is good, but not a miracle worker. I got a bit snotty again last night. I've woken this morning much the same as I was yesterday not totally dreadful, but not 100%. I might go swimming later on or I might not.

My house is in need of a good clean and tidy, so that might be my exercise today.

stevienickstophat · 22/03/2015 10:08

3lb!

Brilliant.

I've lost 2 ??

Well done stevie. I can report that the upstairs is spotless.

I has a heart stopping moment when after dragging the hoover from under the bed (I was hoovering under the bed) it dragged out a burst red balloon and rubber balloon and heat from the hoover meant that it kind of melted a bit and left a pink stain on my cream bedroom carpet. After much screaming at DD (6) and vigorous scrubbing with a sponge the pink marks are no longer. I think DD is very clear now that I do not want her to leave rubbish about and she must tidy up after herself.

I'm a bit precious over my 'nice' house, it was a dump when we bought it because it was a rented house by an unscrupulous landlord that must of rented it to families of 10 or something, going by all the post we got for different people over the first few years, and its only a 3 bed semi, and it has taken 12 years of saving to get it finished. I lived for 12 years with the most hideous nylon friction burning carpet in my bedroom in a horrible aubergine and indistiguishable stains colour.

stevienickstophat · 22/03/2015 12:48

Pesky balloon. Inflatable things never fared too well in this house. There is a legendary story involving one of my kids' first day at school, a space hopper, a new Mini and a veg knife...

So, just warm up and fat burner for me today. Am going to do some gardening later so that will be a bit more exercise.

Good luck everyone and have a nice Sunday!

Wasn't going to do any today as as well as my injuries from fall yesterday I drank my own bodyweight in Prosecco at party last night and have a minging hangover (again) Blush
DD, however had other ideas and made me do warm up (where I discovered that although I can't actually kick my bum yet dd can in fact kick her opposite bum cheek). Total stretch (fine, love that but dd can get her head on the floor when stretching forward and I most definitely can't), tone and burn (oh god) and box fit (loved most of that). DD then pronounces it's all too easy and we should do more. (No way)

The moral of this story is "Don't do Davina with an 8yr old flexible, thin, long limbed no it all" Blush

BuzzardBird · 22/03/2015 15:47

*know it all

stevienickstophat · 22/03/2015 16:19

Exercising while hanging?

Respect.

Grin Buzzard, I know what you mean, if I try doing stretches with DD then I feel like an overweight, unfit, inflexible oldie in comparison which I am but I mustn't talk to ger about it as she has ishoos. Here, and alone on my mat with the videos, it is just about how I am fitter and stronger than the week before.

One of the reasons I love this thread so much is I have somewhere to talk about exercising now.

BuzzardBird · 22/03/2015 17:04

If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't do any of it. To come on and report what I do each day is enough encouragement for me. Like the Weightwatchers effect I suppose where you feel you need to keep up with others without anyone actually judging you or charging you money. :)

The encouraging words mean a lot to me as it's not really DH's way to encourage.

DD has just taught me some yoga moves she has learned off yoga for kids :) She is so bendy!

bimandbam · 22/03/2015 17:28

Just checking in and waving at all you motivated tuna grabbers.

I haven't done Davina yet as dp would have taken the piss. And I feel extremely rough. Have a top lip full of cold sores and empitgo around my nose. I look like Leslie Ash post lipjob. Not a good look.

But I did drag the kids and dog on a nice 2 mile walk this afternoon and lunged a fat hairy pony this morning who is only.marginally fitter than me so its a start.

Dp taking the day off work tomorrow to get my car mended so can't see davina coming out until Tuesday but am going to get another good walk in if I don't die of virus and skin lurgy overnight.

Glad to see people are losing weight. Am going to go to sw on Thursday I think. It doesn't really work for me beyond the first 6 weeks but if I am exercising as well it might do.

And I luffs the shiney stickers on my book!

BuzzardBird · 22/03/2015 17:32

Well done bim, hope you feel better soon.

velmadinkly · 22/03/2015 18:52

buzzard are you sure you're on the right thread, this one is for people 'doing a bit of movement and exercise' not the hardcore fitness freaks Wink Total respect to you for exercising while hungover.

bim well done on the walking today. I sympathise about the coldsores, I get them too.

I'm feeling much better from having a rest today. I will be back on it tomorrow.

AmazonGrace · 22/03/2015 19:40

Well done all of you!

I've done nothing this weekend but I did walk into Town with Dp last night for a child free night out, so I've done something I suppose. Will start again in the morning.

Moodykat · 22/03/2015 19:43

Buzzard, me too! That's why I check in even on days off, I quite like feeling I have to tell someone and if I dropped off on my days off it would be too easy to just give up posting....and then probably just give up altogether, although I like to think I'm past that point now!

Trenzalor · 22/03/2015 22:11

I've downloaded the 7 minute abs workout. I was going to do it but got derailed by the yoga link. Adrien is great. So now I'm also doing 30 days of yoga. Well I guess it's relaxing after a seven minute work out...

Moodykat · 23/03/2015 07:02

Morning all! Felt much better this morning so got up and did warm up and tone and Burn. As predicted it is much harder with my 2kg weights than with my tins of big soup!

Will be on day 8 of 30 days of yoga today, but I only do it 3 days a week as my other work days are short days.

AmazonGrace · 23/03/2015 07:02

Morning!

Warm up and legs done! Was going to do two sessions but I'll maybe do two tomorrow. Feeling good!

PeaceOfWildThings · 23/03/2015 09:39

Morning. Smile
I've done day one of a 5 day plan which includes warm up, sweaty cardio, weights/strength (I need heavier weights for this type of exercise) pilates/stretch cooldown.

Small difference: I have dips/dents on either side of my big tummy. I can feel the shape of my bone through the layers if I put my hand on my hip.

BuzzardBird · 23/03/2015 09:49

I have to shop today, not promising aything but will try when I get back. Parts of me hurt today after the 8yr old bootcamp instructor yesterday.

velmadinkly · 23/03/2015 11:42

I'm late posting this morning, but I got up and started exercising at 6.20am this morning. I love the routine that I have got going. Anyway, I did warm up, Fat Burner, Ultimate Fat Burner, abs and some stretch.

I can't remember if I told you that I did take some more photo's of myself, and I don't look any different as yet, but I do feel different. I also feel really proud of myself that I've actually stuck to something for more than one week.

I usually end up going in a fits and starts with the old exercise lark, but I think I've found something to do, that just 'fits'.

BuzzardBird · 23/03/2015 13:45

velma I agree, I don't think I look different but I feel stronger, core wise. Well done you for getting up early, I don't have time now unless DD bullies me into it later Grin
