Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

lala the hardest cardio session is the fitness test one IMO. I only do the cardio's, abs and the tone ones. I don't do legs of any sort because I cycle to and from work 4 times a week, so my legs get the additional work out then.

I must admit, I do consider doing the workout in my pyjamas, but seeing as I don't wear a bra of any sort for bed, jumping around with my norks is definately a no go, therefore, If I have to brave the cold to put on my sports bra I might as well take the bottoms off to put on my some leggings.

There is also another reason for not wearing a top as well as the bra, in that, when I lay on my mat to do the abs, I leave a sweaty mark and I can see if my lower back has been on the mat (it basically leaves a kind of silouette of my sports bra).

Painting pictures with words again Velma? Ink blot style.Grin

velmadinkly · 19/03/2015 17:48

Saying it as it is and 'keeping it real' dontcha know Grin.

I could go further and talk about the trickle of sweat that creeps from between my norks and up around my neck when I'm doing the abs section but I won't because that's keeping it a bit too real! Wink and you'll all think I'm weird and such and you'll kick me out of the Tuna Club

Ledkr · 19/03/2015 18:01

I was stunning doing mine earlier.
Big fluffy hair, slightly whiffy pjs (needed to go in the wash but thought I'd make it worth while) bare feet and a scowl.
Didn't feel at all like Davina.
I am really aching though, might do Zumba tomorrow instead of tonight.
I need to get some decent trainers, any recommendations? I need good shock absorbers for Zumba.

HelenaVagBasket · 19/03/2015 18:05

Oh dear. Do NOT have a week off because you don't feel 100% - I just got back in to it and it was so hard! Feel good for doing it again though.

stevienickstophat · 19/03/2015 18:33

Doing the dvd while dp is in the room led to more sweat and a much redder face. I think I must have been trying to impress him Grin

I'm knackered, but feel really good.

Warm up, tone and burn, fat burner and total stretch. Great stuff.

Well done all - especially those returning after time off. That's got to be a Little Difference in itself, for me - at one time, I'd have given up after the initial flush of enthusiasm.

This thread has definitely encouraged me to do more, thanks each and every one of you for posting and updating, long may it continue.

AmazonGrace · 19/03/2015 18:39

And biggest thanks to Stevie, without you I'd still be sitting at home drinking my wine only thinking of doing something remotely healthy. Wine

MrsMcGregor · 19/03/2015 18:52

Amazon Grin ... me too!

I did warm up, legs, tone and sculpt plus box fit today. Legs like jelly afterwards but so glad I did it.

Making up for it now eating Malteser traybakes and drinking tea!

stevienickstophat · 19/03/2015 18:55

But we can enjoy our treats now, because we've moved about.

I didn't do anything today, no idea where the time went.

MrsMcGregor im finding the jogging quite hard. I don't know if it's my breathing but I'm struggling to catch my breath after the 60 second jogs. I'm repeating week 1!

MrsMcGregor · 19/03/2015 22:29

Good on you for doing it Pete. I am not a runner, oh no, but I do keep thinking about it. Am put off by the fact that we live on a busy rural road without pavements .... traffic flies past. Oh, and I would have to pass nosey neighbours further up/down he road Blush. Enjoy your week one repeat!

Moodykat · 20/03/2015 08:51

Yes, well done for doing it Pete. I haven't even tried it!

Cold now gone to chest so STILL feeling really rough. The thing that surprises me is I am really missing the exercise and am champing at the bit to be well enough to start again!

BuzzardBird · 20/03/2015 10:29

I went out for a drink last night with the ladies and was told I bounced into the room (they haven't seen me 'bounce' for years) :) A random man who was around half my age told me I looked beautiful :) :)

This morning I have a minging hangover and have watched the eclipse (beautiful sunny day in Worcs), done warm up, fat burner, abs and total stretch and now I think I'm going to throw up. :( :(

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 20/03/2015 10:29

Thank you! I managed Day 3 today and I think it might have been a bit easier. Shock

Also did Davina:
warm up, tone and sculpt, total abs, tone and burn, legs and stretch.

I think tone and burn is a bit shit to be honest. Also has anyone done the harder abs section? I need more lower abs exercises.

PeaceOfWildThings · 20/03/2015 10:51

I started working out on 1st March. So that is 3 weeks (in 2 days).
Small differences:
I no longer recoil in horror as much when I look in the mirror. I'm too busy looking for differences! Grin

I think my wrists and forearms are getting stronger. Push ups and the variations are getting easier. My forearms feel tighter. The same goes for my upper back and upper ribcage.

Aim: I want to work on getting a waist.

BuzzardBird · 20/03/2015 11:26

Well done Peace :)

PeaceOfWildThings · 20/03/2015 11:46

Well.done on your bouncing and looking beautiful! Grin ...and today's workout. Hope the nausea wears off soon.

PeaceOfWildThings · 20/03/2015 11:50

MoodyKat that sounds like the lurgy I was ill with when stevie started the last thread. Rest up, chest infections are no joke. Flowers I still have a bit of a cough. Someone told me to try rubbing Vicks on my feet! Smile

velmadinkly · 20/03/2015 12:13

No Davina today, but I have been for a 30 minute swim. I did 40 lengths with a combination of breaststroke and front crawl. I felt as though I could have swam for l8nger, but the lane swimming was closing.

I will be doung Davina tomorrow if I can prevent this niggle of a sore throat developing, I've already had one dose of First Defence, so fingers crossed it does the trick.

bimandbam · 20/03/2015 12:46

Right. Davina turned up today. Booked a holiday last night for 14th june. So 12 weeks away.

I can be a bikini babe in 12 weeks right? I obviously have some baby weight to shift. I mean he is 15 months now so its about time I got back into my pre pregnancy clothes yes? They told me bfing would melt the fat off but it hasn't. Just given me odd boobs and a layer of flab that just won't shift.

Am ill with some variation of bird flu at the moment. Going to aim for a long walk tomorrow and Sunday then start on Monday. Previously done sw with success for the first 6 weeks then a month of gaining and losing the same 1lb so leaving fat club until after easter then I might lose a bit to feel better just before we go away.

Look out for.me Monday morning. I will be the one in a nightie, dps jammie bottoms and a sagging bfing bra with 1 nork bigger than the other. I might still have green snot But am going to give it a go.

Btw do we need weights? Do have tins of tuna but no weights.

velmadinkly · 20/03/2015 13:18

Welcome bim we will be all here on Monday. You can use either your tuna or you can use weights or bottles of pop or whatever you've got to hand.

Your holiday in 12 weeks will give you some focus. Remember if you do need to also lose weight, then this comes from 80% food and 20% exercise. My focus is also my holiday which is now 16 weeks away. I'm hoping to lose about 7 -10lb and to tone up. We are all focussed on the 'small differences' rather than turning into amazonian warrior women but I won't say no if I do turn out that way

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 20/03/2015 13:20

bimbam you will need weights for some of it but not all. You can use beans in the meantime. My weights are only 1lb each which is slightly pathetic. Grin

velma Well done on your swim. I bought a new costume in Asda last week. It still has the tags on. Blush 40 lengths is loads, I feel inspired to maybe do it next week.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 20/03/2015 13:22

Forgot to say, I'm doing SW. Lost 6lbs in my first week and am now losing 1/2lb a week. Annoying but I'm getting there.

I ate crap most of last week but thanks to Davina and jogging still lost 1/2lb.

AmazonGrace · 20/03/2015 14:15

Afternoon!

Only did warm up, tone and burn this morning but still feel fantastic!

I just feel better doing something, which is better than nothing. Love the little morning routine now and I'm not getting bored because the sessions are in short, manageable 7 minute bursts. Think that's the beauty of this DVD, once you get used to excersising again you feel that you can do more.
