Grab Your Tuna!

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Morning all!

Did box fit again this morning. Haven't done it for ages as I had decided I didn't like it but this morning I actually enjoyed it!

Have not been quite as committed to doing it every morning as the kids seem to be sleeping in longer but today they had me up at usual time! Let's hope it carries on, I just can't face getting up if they are still sleeping!

cherrytree63 · 22/04/2015 09:54

Morning all!
I've not Davina'd everyday, but been trying to be active in my daily routine, throwing a few squats and lunges round the shops and dog walking (I have no dignity) ... But this morning I did the buff warm up, abs, legs and attempted the stretch but not very successful at that.....
BUT... although I have no idea how much I weighed after my 6 month illness, before cutting down food and starting to exercise 4 weeks ago, I was weighed at hospital last week at 70.8 kg, bought some scales yesterday and weighed in at 68 kg, (I was 72 pre illness). So even taking into account discrepancies between different scales surely I've lost some weight?

velmadinkly · 22/04/2015 10:54

No Davina today for me, I'm planning on swimming after work. Fingers crossed I get done at work for dead on 4pm so that I can go, swim, get back and collect DD before after school care closes. If this doesn't happen, then I will cajole DD into riding her bike/scoot while I do some nordic walking.

My eating was much better yesterday, no biscuits or sweets passed my lips! I'm so proud of myself!

cherry yes, you will have lost some weight.
moody I don't know if I 'like' boxfit. I doesn't get me out of breath or anything, so I do it when I'm feeling a bit tired and I can't be bothered will the 'jumping around' sections.
amazon Well done on the press ups. I too revel in the knowledge that I can now do a proper 'girl' press up. Before I started doing all this, my upper body strength was very poor and to just do 1 was a major achievement. I can now do about 10 quite easily.

I feel thinner today. Probably because my insides are not full of stodge from Monday night. Grin

AmazonGrace · 22/04/2015 12:04

Wow Velma, 10 press ups, fantastic! I'm not that good yet but feeling stronger each time. It's a great feeling knowing you're getting stronger in certain areas.

BuzzardBird · 22/04/2015 13:02

I can do half a press up, does that count?

Had day off yesterday as knee crucifying me again.
Managed, FB and T&S today, no stretch just to see if it does anything.

velmadinkly · 22/04/2015 18:31

Work got in the way and I didn't actually finish until gone 5.30. I then came home and dropped my bike off to jump in the car to get DD. She is tired, so no exercise for me today Sad

Oh well, there is always tomorrow......

AmazonGrace · 22/04/2015 19:27

Buzzard, yes, half is better than zero Grin

Ds is at another activity so warm up, legs, tone & sculpt done and dusted. Need to go pick him up in a min all sweaty faced Confused

Velma, that's the beauty of having the DVD at home, we know that we can easily slot in a couple of sessions to suit! Oh yeah!

As you were! Grin

velmadinkly · 23/04/2015 07:05

Well, this morning was interesting....

I did warm up, then UF Burner. I was about to start the fitness challenge and the power went off. Normally, this would mean I'd down tools, but I didn't. I did the abs section from memory and as I was doing that the power came back on and once I'd done I commenced with the fitness challenge and then some stretch ShockGrin

Oh, and drum roll please........I did 12, yes 12 press ups in the fitness challenge. I am the woman, who 6 -7 weeks ago could only squeeze out 1.

Cheesydancer · 23/04/2015 09:37

I like dancing in my kitchen to keep fit, to music I love and I do it when I want and no one can see me jogging my wobbly bits (apart from the he kids now and then - they sometimes join in!!). It cheers me up no end and is so easy to fit around everything else like work, kids, chores etc. I started a few weeks ago and find it really is improving my fitness. A bit too early to see the effect on my weight but I'm sure it's beginnning to tone me up too. I had a foot operation yesterday tho, so no dancingfor several weeks. Oh dear! ?? Xx

KittyMcAllister · 23/04/2015 17:37

Did 4 sessions today! The aching is already kicking in. FB, box fit (first time & I love it), fitness challenge & abs. Using Ed's guides on Facebook to structure my workouts.

AmazonGrace · 23/04/2015 19:54

Well done everyone!

Warm up, tone & sculpt and box fit done. Thought I'd rest the legs slightly tonight, bloody love box fit.

Moodykat · 23/04/2015 21:42

Well done everyone! I'm feeling quite seriously lazy but even doing something every other day is still more than I was doing before.

Am planning on doing some tomorrow.

AmazonGrace · 23/04/2015 23:58

Too right, Moody!

velmadinkly · 24/04/2015 06:41

Yes, Moody, I totally agree. I think I'm going to swim today.

KittyMcAllister · 24/04/2015 18:47

Everything is aching today, including abs (which means I must have some right?!) Having a rest day today, maybe a run tomorrow.

Moodykat · 24/04/2015 22:20

I did fat burner this morning and remembered why I like it so much! Staying at in-laws this weekend so week off!!

Moodykat · 24/04/2015 22:21

Weekend off I mean! Freudian slip perhaps!

velmadinkly · 25/04/2015 06:39

I didn't get to swimming yesterday Sad. I ended up popping into work and it then meant I missed the lane swimming. I had just over 1 hour until I had to do school pick up, so I went and got my hair cut, so it now feels all lovely and soft.

I will go swimming today! I didn't do Davina yesterday or this morning because DD woke up before 6pm and I can't execise with her in the way. She natters on constantly and moves around the living room so she ends up putting me off. I obviously don't have this problem with swimming.

AmazonGrace · 25/04/2015 10:19

Should be doing mine now but ds is on the Xbox Envy, will get it done later. Can you believe I actually want to do Box Fit, looking forward to it, it's a cheeky session but I love it.

velmadinkly · 25/04/2015 19:30

No swimming for me, but I have done 1 hour nordic walking with park bench push ups, tricep dips and squats half way through.

A small difference is that I have put an exercise t shirt on that ive not worn for weeks and it is looking noticeably looser and my silouette looks less like a link of sausages!Grin

YonicScrewdriver · 26/04/2015 07:11

Can I join in? Yesterday I did exercise bike for 30 mins and today I plan to go swimming.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 26/04/2015 07:59

Can I join? I have the Davina DVD but so far I've just sat on the sofa to watch it after it arrived! Plan to start Monday. In the last 8 weeks I've lost a stone after a health scare motivated me to take control of my body. At the same time I got back into running after a year off. I'm pretty slow with a 5k taking me about 42 minutes but im enjoying it and I'm feeling good.

gamerchick · 26/04/2015 08:26

Now why wait till tomorrow when if you stick it on now you'll be done in 10 minutes? You may even want to go a bit longer Wink

I'm going for the ultimate legs shortly. It has to be done despite the agony tomorrow Grin

YonicScrewdriver · 26/04/2015 08:50

Does Davina need any equipment?

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 26/04/2015 08:54

I ran 5k last night with lots of hills. So today I'm just going for a walk. Grin
