Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Warm up, ultimate fat burner, box fit, advaced abs and some stretch all done.

Welcome back moody. I hope you don't find it too hard going tomorrow!

stevienickstophat · 13/04/2015 15:06

Hello everyone...

It's been a hell of a few weeks - have been selling my house and buying a new one, with all the usual hassles that entails plus a few extra ones besides...

I'm afraid I dropped my tuna Sad

Thank you all for the kind messages on here, and I'm sorry I deserted you. It got so that I was embarrassed to come back Blush

But I've plucked up the courage and tonight I'm going to do a gentle session, to ease myself back in.

Hope you're all getting on okay and had a good Easter.

I looked back and it hasn't even been 2 weeks yet (in my not-good-at-counting world) so not that long really, it just seems longer because we've missed you every day! Grin

Moving is so difficult and there is so very much to do and think about. Life doesn't always give us a chance to give ourselves even 7 minutes. I had a very stressy Easter, and this thread has been a haven of positive encouragement. You made it that way, stevie, and I can't thank you enough.

BuzzardBird · 13/04/2015 16:25

I have been skiving off too due to health issues. Will try and be back tomorrow.

PeaceOfWildThings · 13/04/2015 16:54

Yay, Buzz is back as well! Grin

I've not done much today other than store links to favourite workouts without dumbells in a folder (for holidays) and make new links on my phone for the ones I want to try out over the next few weeks.

stevienickstophat · 13/04/2015 19:29

Well, I did it.

Warm up and fat burner. I'm knackered. Shockingly so.

Which in a way is good, because it shows that I had got fitter. Or something Grin

Anyway, I'm going to leave it there. A gentle reintroduction.

Thank you for the kind words. I hope people are still enjoying their exercise, and would love it if the thread could continue.

Welcome back stevie I do want to thank you for giving me some motivation to get restarted with regards exercising.

Warm up, UFBurner, fitness challenge, tone and sculpt, and some stretch all done.

stevienickstophat · 14/04/2015 09:04

Well done Velma!

I felt quite achey this morning. A good feeling.

PeaceOfWildThings · 14/04/2015 09:32

Had a good sweaty workout this morning but was short of breath doing some curtsy lumges half way through, so I stopped for a bit and it became a two-parter.

I'm still overweight bit bit by bit there are tiny changes...most of them good!

Moodykat · 14/04/2015 10:31

Bugger. Just could NOT get out of bed this morning!

Tomorrow...definitely tomorrow.

Welcome back stevie! Have you found any solution to pony problem?

stevienickstophat · 14/04/2015 11:27

The vet's coming out to have a look t them today Hmm

One of them is very poorly

cherrytree63 · 14/04/2015 16:54

Nice to see you back Stevie, my ears are pricking up at the mention of ponies, as I have horses too. Hope the vet visit went well, and it's nothing too serious?

QuizteamBleakley · 14/04/2015 17:21

Latecomer to the party... May I join, too? Have just read the previous thread (most of) and this one and have thrown aside the Lindt Easter bunny and ordered the DVD. Mind if I stick around? Smile

Moodykat · 14/04/2015 20:03

Welcome Quiz. Good luck stevie.

Moodykat · 15/04/2015 07:27

Back on it this morning.

Warm up and fat burner. Found fat burner really hard! Had to wimp out of a few of the runs as I was knackered!

Goes to show that I had got a bit fitter!

velmadinkly · 15/04/2015 10:12

I've not done any Davina this morning. I'm hoping to go swimming straight after work instead. If I don't make swimming I will go for a brisk power walk instead.

I think the muffin top on my back, just above my backside is getting smaller Grin.

stevie I hope the vet visit went well and it hasn't made too much of a dent in your pocket.

Welcome quiz, just post every day of your 'exercising' and well done on throwing the chocolate bunny aside! - small steps and all that!

lalalonglegs · 15/04/2015 11:21

I'm doing two Davinas a day plus wsrm up - always one of the abs programmes plus the other workouts on a rota. I can't say ive noticed a huge change yet but I'm really awate of my stomach muscles now - I find myself engaging them even when cycling to the shops or whatever so I think it might be having an effect.

PeaceOfWildThings · 15/04/2015 14:16

Welcome Quiz please stay and let us know how you're getting on. :)

Hope the vet can help the ponies, Stevie. Not what you want just as the weather is getting better (or at any time, really). Sending comforting whinnies from the school I take DD to.

I did an upper body 10 mins and a legs 20 min workout today. I seem to have forgotten all about my core, so need to get back it tomorrow.

velmadinkly · 15/04/2015 18:41

Did my swimming after work. The interval training is becoming much easier. I'm not sure if I'm going to have a rest day tomorrow or not. I shall see how I feel when I wake up and how tired my legs feel.

I'm loving the fact that I have got back into doing some exercise.

BuzzardBird · 16/04/2015 10:15

I have re-started today with a warm up and fat burner and stretch. Really can tell that I haven't done much recently Blush
Ah well, tomorrow is another fresh start. :)

CurrerBell · 16/04/2015 10:59

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for these threads! I haven't been able to contribute or keep up with everything, but was inspired to buy the DVD and get into exercise for the first time. Also, after seeing me do it, my DH became a total convert and does it every night (mostly the fat burner ones), which keeps me motivated as well! We have also gone low sugar, and getting more active generally where we can.

I have a bit of a problem with my stomach still after having kids... the muscles never went back together again properly, so I have to be careful. Not sure if the Davina abs exercises will be good for that, or whether I need to do special ones?

lalalonglegs · 17/04/2015 07:19

Dors anyone else really dislike the total stretch section? I'm fine with the rest but struggle to an embarrassing level with that.

currer - I don't think it would be a good idea to do the abs sections if your core muscles didn't"stitch" themselves together. Back in the day, I had a personal trainer who used to get very concerned about thatafter pregnancy.

Moodykat · 17/04/2015 10:16

I haven't tried the total stretch session yet as I never have time with my morning work out and I tend to do yoga in the evening so I figure I get my stretching there!

This morning did warm-up, tone and sculpt and half (all right, perhaps just 2 minutes) of the legs one. Did yoga last night and am planning on doing some more this evening. Am taking kids for a bike ride after work today too, if the lazy little toads can be persuaded!

Moodykat · 17/04/2015 10:17

Currer - I think if you look on Youtube there are some exercises to try and "stitch" your muscles back together.

BuzzardBird · 17/04/2015 11:09

lala I did a bit of an experiment with the total stretch as after every excercise I did stretch and I found I never suffered the next day. Yesterday I only did first set of stretch and I have pain today in my hamstrings. It could be that it's because I have had a break over Easter so out of shape? I only did first set today as well as knee is killing me so wonder if I will be aching again tomorrow?
Managed Ultimate Fat Burner today but I have to be honest I think the regular Fat Burner is better. I was running around like a headless chicken and didn't really feel anything but out of breath at the end of it.
Tone and sculpt I love though even though I only manage half a press up.
