Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

I'm still hurting from Tuesday Blush so I've just done the warm up, danced round my kitchen and some fast walking to raise my pulse and get breathless Smile

AmazonGrace · 03/04/2015 20:41

Cherry, that's sounds as good as anything, nothing like a dance to burn those calories.

Well I've been good on Good Friday. Been out for a meal, Dp decided he was going in the shed of dread for a quick workout, ds having a quick go on the iPod before bed so I decided to stick Davina on and I've managed warm up, ultimate legs and tone & pulse. If he can do it so can I Grin

Hope to carry on in the morning but for now going to have a small glass of wine.

PeaceOfWildThings · 05/04/2015 18:09

Happy Easter everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. Easter Smile

Happy Easter!Easter Smile

I did warm up and ultimate legs this morning. I'm funding the tone & pulse is hurting my....Blush urethra area Blush sorry if tmi. It must've something to do with the push ups and pelvic floor mixed with recent UTI. Sorry if TMI. If anyone else has suffered similar in the past please share. I'm drinking as much water as I can handle when I'm excercising to try and stop this. I'll carry on with the sessions that don't leave me hurting inside.

Hope you've all had a fab Easter Sunday Easter Smile

cherrytree63 · 06/04/2015 09:05

Had a good dance on Saturday night, haven't done any Davina but just fitting in a few of the lunges and squats going about my daily business Grin.
I actually haven't wanted chocolate for about 10 days, very odd, but that's quite a few calories I'm dropping as I was eating a large bar every day, but did share an Easter egg with the OH last night so think I should do a few 7 minutes today.

velmadinkly · 06/04/2015 12:51

I'm back from our long weekend away. I don't drink alcohol, so no issues there, but my eating has gone a bit awry, not shockingly bad, but the odd biscuit and icecream etc.

I will weigh myself tomorrow and report back. I will be doing davina tomorrow morning.

I feel absolutely shattered, not because of late nights, but because of the softest bed in the world. I like a really firm mattress, ours is a firm, non roll together mattress, but the one on the bed in the caravan was quite soft, providing little support and everytime DH rolled or moved about I woke. I felt as though I was clinging to the side of mount everest. I was therefore waking probably 5 or 6 times per night to try and get comfortable. I can't wait to be laid on my mattress tonight for me to sleep all the way through.

velmadinkly · 07/04/2015 08:01

I weighed myself and I'm 10st 10.8lb, so I've gained just over a lb in weight. My proper weigh in is on a Sunday, so hopefully I'll have lost the lb plus a bit extra come Sunday.

I did warm up, ultimate fat burner, box fit, tone and sculpt and some stretch this morning. It felt good getting back into it.

PeaceOfWildThings · 07/04/2015 14:26

If I get back.home and find I've only put on a pound in weight, I'll be really happy. For that to happen over Easter (or any school holiday) is a great success. I've been keeping up short workouts (about 10-20 minutes) and I am wearing a shirt today that was too small for me in December. Grin

AmazonGrace · 07/04/2015 15:05

My work trousers are still taking the strain, need to step up my game.

cherrytree63 · 07/04/2015 15:10

I'm so tired after the weekend, and it's also my day for my weekly vit d supplement (I usually start to feel a bit perkier by Thursday) . I did the warm up and the fat burner. Tidied the kitchen and my bedroom, but now lounging on the sofa amidst all the mess and dust but really can't find any energy.

velmadinkly · 08/04/2015 08:08

Warm up, fat burner, ultimate fat burner and advanced abs with some stretch all done. I sat and wrote for about 5 to 6 hours yesterday and for some reason my mind tells me that when I have a break I should eat bloody biscuits ShockConfused.

I will not do it today. I must keep thinking of my bikini in 15.5 weeks.

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/04/2015 08:57

I wanted to scoff a huge tub of nachos last night. Managed to resist.

I was feeling terrible over the Easter weekend. I think it is partly down to becoming dehydrated after flying and getting no downtime to rest, disconnect/disengage and rehydrate. It's been stressful and my capacity to deal with stress has been greatly diminished. Managed a slower paced day yesterday and drank water all day. Still thirsty and drinking today but lips not as cracked.

DH says he thinks he has noticed a small difference around my bum. Grin I can't see any difference but am feeling as if I am getting physically stronger.

I have a new favourite exercise that might help with push ups: feet 2-3 feet from a wall, hands apart and on wall. Bend elbows and push to wall, then push back with arms. I can feel the right arm and shoulder muscles working (and can feel in in my ham strings too) yet it is a fairly gentle exercise.

cherrytree63 · 08/04/2015 11:52

I do those sort of press ups too Peace, but using the kitchen table . Definitely feels like hard work to me though!

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/04/2015 18:47

DD tells me they are called 'wall press ups' after all that! Grin

AmazonGrace · 08/04/2015 19:22

Will (hopefully) be back into some sort of routine tomorrow.

Keep up the good work Grin

velmadinkly · 09/04/2015 10:57

No davina today, but I have done a good and intense 30 minute swim. I'm now going to have some tea and toast and then some more writing.

The wall press ups are really good if you can't do a floor press up.

I hope everyone has a jice day in the sun. I'm not sure what I'll be doing this afternoon with DD.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 10/04/2015 22:43

Just wondering if anyone is getting results with 7 minute fit?

velmadinkly · 11/04/2015 07:57

Warm up, fitness challenge, ultimate fat burner, abs and some stretch all done.

cantbelieve I haven't seen significant results, but my eating is not yet totally under control. I am however more flexible, my core is much stronger as are my thighs and hips. My saddle bags aren't as big and my upper arms and thighs have more definition. I must confess, I am swimming also alongside doing the dvd and my swimming is quite intense.

PeaceOfWildThings · 11/04/2015 08:21

I am pretty sure if I only did 7 minutes of intense exercise 6 days a week and othwrwise had a sedentary lifestyle, eating a diet of take aways and processed meals, I'd see little difference at all.

I'm doing a 5 minute warm up, about 7-10 minutes of cardio/pilates then another 7-10 minutes of pilates/yoga or weights then 5 minutes cool down on most days. I'm seeing similar differences to velma. I'm using Fitness Blender, rather than Davina and from what I'm reading here, a similar amount of Davina 7 minute fit would have been just as effective. (My household just isn't set up for me using fitness DVDs).

Am not feeling well. Gave up yesterday due to chills and today just not feeling up to it yet.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 11/04/2015 23:11

I am still working on my eating to Velma. It is getting better. Evenings are the worst time for me.
I am doing three of the work outs at the mo but have issues with my ankles so can't do some of the workouts. I often end up doing the fat burner twice and the boxing one.
Peace you sound as if you are doing a similar amount of exercise to me. I am only on my second week and kind of have a 4 month plan

velmadinkly · 12/04/2015 13:48

Swimming for me today. I feel much fitter because I can do my front crawl sprints much more easily and I can get my breath back sufficiently in the 2 x 25m breaststrokes recovery swims.

ican yes, the evening is a killer for me too. I also have a target of my holiday abroad which is mid July. I'm 3lb down from where I started, but I would love to lose another 6-7lb and then see how I look and feel. I have to be careful because I get a xylophone chest if I lose too much, but that still leaves me with a fat/flabby lower stomach. I'm not aiming to be the body beautiful, just the best me.

Because I've been done some sort of exercise for a good few weeks now, it is now forming into a habit and I feel a bit odd if I don't get some structured movement into my day, if that makes sense?

velmadinkly · 12/04/2015 13:49

Sorry ican should be can'tbelieve

PeaceOfWildThings · 12/04/2015 15:36

Hope stevie is ok. I think I saw her posting on another thread.
Maybe having difficulty posting. I know I've not been able to post on some of the MN threads. They just seem to freeze.

Feeling a bit better but tummy still hurts when I eat. I just did a few standing stretches and squats today.

velmadinkly · 12/04/2015 17:00

Well done peace to keep at it when you aren't 100%. That truly shows you commitment to doing some sort of exercise.

Yes, I do hope that stevie returns. I have alot to thank her for, starting this thread got me motivated to get me exercising again and I feel a billion times better than what I did 4 or 5 weeks ago and I've returned to my first love of swimming. I was even discussing with DH the other morning how I could incorporate doing the dvd when I was holiday. We are going back to the same hotel as we did last year so he has told me of a good spot where I could take the portable dvd player and to take some weights out of the gym. If im not able to take the weights from the gym, I'll just use some 2 litre bottle filled with sand. I'll experiment at home first to see how much they weigh when filled with sand.

Moodykat · 12/04/2015 22:18

Hi all. Have been on holiday so done very little. A bit of swimming and that's all. Should be back to it on Tuesday.

I spoke to stevie on another thread and she's got a lot going on at the moment but she says she'll be back and is missing us!
