Oops, cross post 814.25

Well done Aggressive, that's fantastic Smile.
Would you have come 2nd without the detour? At least both of you did it!

familygermsareok · 19/04/2015 09:18

Aargh, another x post! I am such a slow typist Blush

And what happened to my maths!! Ironically was helping dd with maths homework at the time (must try harder)

emummy · 19/04/2015 09:55

Well done Agressive!
10 miles from me , my longest run ever. Feel a bit stiff now, off to take ds to birthday party.

I struggled to get out of bed this morning but managed to do 6 miles in the end. The first two miles were hard going due to wine last night I thinkSmile Voices in head kept telling me to go home but pushed on through! Feeling tired now though so having a coffee.

Well done Aggressive! sounds like an exciting race.

Good luck to others racing this weekend.

I feel I need something to aim for as I'm drifting a bit I think. Considering entering a nearby 10K as I quite enjoy this distance and need to keep myself motivated. The Worthing 10K is coming up in June. Anyone done this one?

lastqueenofscotland · 19/04/2015 10:42

2.2 miles from me. didn't feel great but i keep having to remind myself that I've been back running EIGHT DAYS, i ran a quick 5k for me yesterday it probably wasn't going to be good less than 24 hours later
(still feel crap about it!)

sassytheFIRST · 19/04/2015 11:18

Well done Aggressive! Bet that feels great!

I'm cross with my trainers today. They have worn through to the plastic inside where my heel sits but are otherwise still immaculate and look hardly worn. They've probably done about 500 miles tbf but I really didn't want to replace them yet. Gave me a blister on Friday Hmm.

My trainers always do that so it's obv my heel shape or how I run. I'll have to get properly fitted next time I think but won't have time to get to nearest proper running place for a few weeks - was wondering if there is a way to pack out either the shoe or the heel in the meantime??

Whowouldfardelsbear · 19/04/2015 11:25

Good luck to those running today. It's tonight here now - just back from a run and managed my 10k! So 6.2 miles from me. I had to run past the same group of workmen twice (working on the railway at night) but they gave me a nice matey smile and wave the second time round.

838.65 including lastqueenofscotland's 2.2

Runrunrun1 · 19/04/2015 11:42

Wow, people have been doing some great running. A minor triumph for me, I ran 5k today for the first time ever, so 3.1 to add!!! I think quite a lot of people on here started with c25k. Did you follow another programme once you'd completed it, or just carried on on your own?

841.75

HalleLouja · 19/04/2015 11:46

6 lovely chatty miles here. Loved it with hindsight. 847.75

Well done runrunrun I went off by myself. I didn't make 5k until a few weeks or so after finishing c25k. So I did that and gradually built up until I did 10k. Then a bit after joined my local running club.

Aggressive well done you. That's awesome.

Whowouldfardelsbear · 19/04/2015 11:53

runrunrun I did the Zen Labs C25K and I am currently doing the Pink to 10K app they have - I started about week 9 which picks up from where C25K left off, but I'm not really sticking to it and have just been trying to increase my distance each time. It does give me the push I need to get out though.

and big appluase for doing your 5k! No stopping you now!

Deliaskis · 19/04/2015 12:35

Well don Aggressive and runrunrun everyone doing fab running this weekend.

I did it! I ran 10k for the first time in my life ever Grin !!! And, I wasn't even any slower than 2 x the time it takes me to do 5k, so although I am slow, I am pleased with the time it took me, and I feel fine, recovery pretty good. Only about the last 1k felt a bit sluggish, so I was pleased overall.

Never ever ever ever thought I would run 10k (10m would have been a stretch 18 months ago!).

Grin today!

Dx

Deliaskis · 19/04/2015 12:36

Ooops and forgot to add miles.

847.75 + my 6.2 is 853.95

Sazorchard31 · 19/04/2015 12:43

I have about a week.of posts to read on here!

Well done aggressive and congrats to cinnamon on your new arrival.
Sure lots of you have done events too...I just need to find the time to read the thread fully.

After 2weeks and no running I managed 7 miles this morn, furthest in 11 months so seriously considering a half in 8 weeks. Thought I might faint at the end, had hoped to try for 8 miles but might have dropped on the floor!

Total at 860.95

suzannecanthecan · 19/04/2015 14:35

from me
11.49
=872.44
a small amount of hip discomfort after mile 9 and sitting down afterwards is much more comfortable than it used to be so hopefully I have that issue under control.

Big thumbs up for the cheery friendly workmen round your way whowould:)

Well done AggressiveB:o

I feel as if I ought to want to enter some sort of event but I just dontBlush
(Partly because I know I'd be at the back)

5madthings · 19/04/2015 17:13

13.1 from and 13.1 from my sister makes 26.2. We both did it in about 2:24. So not bad, I have just taken my trainers off... I am going to lose two toe nails! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, miles 10-12 were the hardest. My first 8 I felt really strong. Weather was perfect. Really pleased I made myself do it despite my dodgy hip. Grin

Anglaise1 · 19/04/2015 17:21

Well done on your podium Aggressive sorry you got lost, its just so easy to do in trail racing but at least you weren't the only one!
Congrats runrunrun on your first 5k, I hope it is the start of many races for you.
5madthings so pleased your hip held out and that the weather was good. Congrats to you and your sister, you can put your feet up now and enjoy the evening!
Suzanne racing isn't for everyone, there was an article in RunnersWorld last month on exactly that, and how to motivate yourself if you are a non racer. I think that would be the biggest problem for me, I like to have a goal to work towards and the high I get after a race is incomparable with a normal run. Racing with a club is perhaps more fun because there are usually several of you together doing the same race offering mutual support and encouragement.

Sazorchard31 · 19/04/2015 18:11

Congrats 5matching hope you're celebrating tonight!!

IrianofWay · 19/04/2015 18:23

10K sneaked in under an hour!!! Grin 59.37 to be exact. Run was as hard as I expected. Dead flat and instead of being easier the sheer unchanging relentlessness of it wore me out!

But DH and DS2 were there and both so pleased for me. DS kept giving me hugs!

EdithDickie · 19/04/2015 18:29

Well done Irian! I dream of a sub 1 hour 10k!

I did Plymouth half marathon today Grin

So 13.1 miles from me! 2 hours 35. Am pretty chuffed with that!

EdithDickie · 19/04/2015 18:29

Ooh well done 5madthings!

5madthings · 19/04/2015 19:17

Well done Edith Yay to all of us!

Whispers really quietly, I beat my sisters time by a minute and a half. So declared a draw. Given we both had injuries I am really proud of both of us. It was an amazing day. And now we have alcohol!

IrianofWay · 19/04/2015 19:20

I would love to do a HM. But I just can't see myself doing it. I know (hope) my body could do it - physically I was coping fine today and I didn't ache afterwards in the slightest (in fact DS2 and I went swimming and then for a long dog walk later) but I could see so clearly what my head was doing to my body - if I hadnt been in a race I'd might well have stopped and walked more than once. Where does the spirit come from to do double what I did today?

suzannecanthecan · 19/04/2015 19:31

Irian I think you get carried on by the collective running powers of all the people in the race?
From listening to other peoples descriptions I can only conclude that it is some sort of supernatural phenomena, a kind of energy sharing process :o

I see your point Anglaise re racing and motivation, my problem is more a tendency to overdo it that a lack of motivation.

Well done half marathoners 5Mad and Edith :o

EdithDickie · 19/04/2015 19:45

Fantastic 5madthings! Massive respect!

Irian, honestly, I don't really know. The crowd did help and there were lots of people lining the route and cheering which was amazing! But I think I mainly managed it because I got carried away, entered and told people and then didn't want to lose face by not making it around. Shooting my mouth off and then not wanting to look foolish is a big motivator for me!
