I've never had saucony but seen a few I like recently...
Have some asics after I got loads of hype from all my running friends about then but not 100% enamoured. Defo not as hard wearing as my new balance that saw me through two marathons

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2015 12:27

My first shoes were saucony but I'm a brooks girl now Wink

Went to parkrun this morning, was lovely to see everyone but wasn't sad that I couldn't run (although I'm sure that will come!)

PoppyShakespeare · 18/04/2015 12:32

is true brooks keep feet nice and cool?

LastGleaming · 18/04/2015 12:33

I've always had brooks, they were my first shoe and I've stuck with them as they've never given me any trouble. I do love the saucony colours but nowhere here stocked them until recently. The nhs pod I saw advised I'm probably best off with brooks or asics as I overpronate a lot.

763.95 + 7 =770.95
Trying to add a little to each long run. I get a bit jealous of my dog. He's never tired!
I will be in the market for new trainers soon I reckon. My basics were for short distances and they recommend changing after so many miles, which I am approaching. I love garish!

Well done to all of us, from the first mailers to the mountain marathoners. I caught myself thinking"oh, I'll just do another mile" today and it occurred to me that the mile has shrunk. It was sooooo long that first run in January. And cinnamon, OMG, you are incredible to be even thinking about exercise. It was all I could do to detach baby from boob and eat biscuits for the first few months.

AggressiveBunting · 18/04/2015 14:02

I was using Saucony for road for years and Salomons off road but now I'm in Hokas for both and a total convert. I've still got some Salomons with big lugs for shorter muddy trail runs but rarely use them now. Love garish- lime green trail shoes and bright orange road shoes. tomorrow I'll be in a bright purple vest with neon pink trim for my race. I also have neon pink compression socks- main advantage of those is that it's easy to pick yourself out from a set of 1000 race photos on FB.

suzannecanthecan · 18/04/2015 15:21

Altra are my favourite atm for the wide toe box, max cushioning and no heel to toe drop

lastqueenofscotland · 18/04/2015 16:09

Aggressive I love garish so much!

3.1miles in 30 mins (i'll take it! I've only been back running a week)

runtothehills · 18/04/2015 16:23

I love hideously garish. My current ones are bright green, blue and illuminous pink, though faded now from all the mud. They tend to be the ones "on offer" so you can get them cheaper too Wink

phleb I know exactly what you mean, i remember starting out thinking 5k was really long, then as you get used to it and set new targets the smaller distances shrink. I would imagine most people on this site started with something akin to C25k and has just kept going since then.

7 miles again this morning, final hill run with sack prior to race a week today. Aim for a couple of short flatish runs this week, and the rest of the time on the websites working out what the weather forecast will be. please don't rain, please don't rain, please don't rain
it'll probably snow

runtothehills · 18/04/2015 16:25

Oh and welcome Lagoon, you'll be upping the miles before you know it.

EdithDickie · 18/04/2015 17:17

Just 2 miles from me yesterday. Doing my first half marathon tomorrow!!! Very excited, very nervous!!!

EdithDickie · 18/04/2015 17:17

779.95

HalleLouja · 18/04/2015 17:47

3.1 miles of parkrun to add 783.05.

runrunrun stickers are cool. Your friends therefore must be cool too.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2015 18:11

Good luck EdithDickie!!! Enjoy Grin

EdithDickie · 18/04/2015 19:04

Thanks cinnamon! Grin

Pasta for tea and now faffing around with kit!

Knackerelli · 18/04/2015 19:58

I love garish too. When I'm running its the only time that I wear bright bright pink!

EdithDickie good luck tomorrow, you'll be great!

Parkrun to add (My 50th!!!!) I ran with my DD who is 7, she got a PB of 33.58 so am feeling very proud.

786.15

Anglaise1 · 18/04/2015 20:57

Good luck with your HM tomorrow Edith sleep well and enjoy it!
7.5 from me this morning gone to the coast for weekend so ran this morning instead of with club tomorrow. Should really stilll be on rest as legs not quite 100% after the racing over last month.
794.65

stilllearnin · 18/04/2015 23:28

Wowzers Knackerelli - you are right to be proud. My dd did her first split roll on the silks today. She and I are very proud. (you have your feet in the silks, do the splits and roll over 3 times. It is hard!)

EdithDickie I will be thinking of you tomorrow as I attempt to get out of bed and do more than 3 miles. Cannot wait to hear all about your HM.

stilllearnin · 18/04/2015 23:34

Oh and good luck to Aggressive chasing that podium too (I am not sure of your time difference as I seem to think you are not in the UK). My friend makes aggressive bunting and so I always imagine her when I read your posts, but you are not likely to be one and the same!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/04/2015 23:53

Best wishes for tomorrow Edith and Aggressive

3.1 parkrun miles from me today = 797.75

You should feel proud Knackerelli Smile

I am a loyal saucony triumph wearer. I've had almost every garish colour combo, current pair are white, green and purple Smile

runtothehills as you said, I'm a C25K graduate who just kept going Smile

I need to spend about 6 hours in the car tomorrow taking various people to where they need to be, so am unlikely to be able to fit in a run Sad

Best of luck for tomorrow today Edith and Aggressive

Some advice please ladies. I have my mud run today but came down with d&v today. Think it's a bug as dd has the same and she's not with me atm, although really only lasted 8 hours so nowt too serious. Feeling miles better now, slightly achy still but should I do my run today? I'm sure I read ages ago you have to leave it three days for your own health and possible contamination. I'll be gutted if I do as I had to miss 3 runs last year. Have the worst bloody luck!

emummy · 19/04/2015 06:35

Good luck for today Edith and Agressive

LastGleaming, how frustrating! Happened to me last year, although I was in bed for 4 days, and had to miss my first ever 10k. You are probably still an infection risk, plus you might well find that although you feel better for normal activity,a mud run could just be too much. If it was me I wouldn't do it but of course it's up to you! It is really disappointing when these things happen.

AggressiveBunting · 19/04/2015 09:02

797.75 plus 10 from my race today makes 807.75. Really tough course but managed to cling on for 3rd place. Took a wrong turn together with the woman that came 2nd which cost us 4 mins. Slightly more gutting for her than me as she would have won if we hadn't done our detour. Ah well, there's a lesson in there somewhere. Was my first race where I was actually racing for position and could see the other people near me. Normally it's a lot more spread out than that and you're just against the clock- the positions are a bit secondary.

familygermsareok · 19/04/2015 09:13

Good luck Edith, Aggressive and 5madthings, and anyone else racing today.
LastGleaming Sad, that is so annoying. I must admit I would probably not do the run if it was me, after a D&V bug you might be a bit dehydrated and while ok for normal activities stronger exertion might just be a bit too much. Also you may well still be infectious if less than 48 hrs since last D or V. I wouldn't think you would be an infection risk to others if just a normal run but if you are wallowing in muddy holes and going through water obstacles then you could be. Of course, it is up to you though, you may be feeling much better than I do after a bout. I feel for you, it is really frustrating.

Re trainers I wear Mizuno Wave Inspire which I love. ( supported for over pronation) . Trail shoes are Adidas kanadia ( I had to wipe the encrusted mud off to see that) . They are the only trail shoes I have had but are at the end of their life now and I need to get new ones. I am thinking of trying out Hokas after reading about them on here.
Used to be horrified at some of the more garish colours having started with plain white trainers but I am a convert now Smile

6.5 lovely sunny miles this morning. Got the best of the day as the grey clouds have come over now.

stilllearnin · 19/04/2015 09:13

Well done aggressive did you like the nearby competition or do you prefer it out on your own?

Well I won the race against my bed and I have 4 miles to add.
