Fgs you have just had a baby! Def go easy, I wish I had agreed on my core strength after my pregnancies as I am paying for it now!

But I did five miles tonight, slow miles but my hip felt Ok and I met with a friend who is recovering from injury and so we chatted, like holding a proper convo, so almost 11min miles slow. But if I do that pace on Sunday I will get round in under two and a half hours, andi could have gone faster but deliberately didn't so am hoping on the day I should be Ok. It was basically a sedate jog this evening! But it wasnt about speed it was to feel like I had had a nice run and I did, loaf's of stretching now and will stretch and do my exercises etc as ordered by physio So feeling :)

stilllearnin · 16/04/2015 22:18

RRR that red faced stuff happens to me when I stop too. Presumably the exertion is so great the blood runs from my face and then rushes back when I ease up Grin

AggressiveBunting · 17/04/2015 03:20

At the expense of sounding like a GN commentor, 664.5 plus

Orange Flutie 10
RunRunRun 2.9
Eau Rouge 3.1
5madThings 5
Aggressive Bunting 4

total= 689.5

Anglaise The skirts are popular here too, even amongst the podium getters so I figure they can't hinder performance or they wouldnt wear them. Not sure I'll be buying one, although I have got some new Puma bra tops for the summer. Last year I got sick of sweat soaked tops flapping around my stomach.

Getting excited for my race on Sunday. Slim chance of podium- basically one woman who runs a 40min 10k, so I wont see her for dust, and then a few others where we're fairly evenly matched when you take into account my greater trail experience vs their greater road experience. I've decided just to go out fast and hope I dont blow up, and if I do then I do, but I wont get a place being timid.

runtothehills · 17/04/2015 07:05

Checking in with 5 miles from Tuesday and 7 from last night. Last night was with the full bags we're taking on the Mountain Marathon which included tent and sleeping bag and definitely felt it on the uphill!! Only 1 week tomorrow Shock

Re shorts it depends on the weather. I wore capris at the race last weekend and last night and regretted it as my legs were pouring with blood (literally) from all the scratches from the heather. Angalaise I have run a trail race in a kilt once, but had shorts underneath Smile

runtothehills · 17/04/2015 07:06

5 + 7 +689.5 = 701.5

Neeko · 17/04/2015 07:41

Morning. A "goldilocks" run of 3.5 this morning (breathing, energy levels, weather and temperature etc all just right). It felt like I could have run forever, but DH was waiting to go to work so I had to come home.

Good luck with the upcoming races. They sound tough.
My 10k isn't until August. The plan was to give me plenty of time but I think I'm going to need to do something sooner.

suzannecanthecan · 17/04/2015 07:47

'goldilocks run'
great expression Neeko :o

(although at first I thought it was going to be something involving porridge) ?

Runrunrun1 · 17/04/2015 09:31

Arghhhh, keep typing responses and then getting bounced out of mumsnet before I can post. Right, here goes again!

Thanks for the star hallelouja! My friend gave me some stickers to put in my diary when I've done a run. I love them, I'm like a little kid.

I like your reasoning re the red face stilllearnin. Makes sense to me!

Wow runtothehills - just the thought of running uphill with a full kit bag makes my legs scream. You are epic (as my boys would say)!

IrianofWay · 17/04/2015 09:34

30 miles to add. 735

OK.... that was over 12 days Grin

10k race on sunday. I have run 10k every weekend for months and months so why the hell am I nervous? Makes no sense.

LastGleaming · 17/04/2015 09:47

Bloody 'ell with the comments if you're running yet cinnamon Shock Definitely give your body time to settle down. Glad to hear your ds is doing well.

My face is the same. Have rosacea too so it normally is a bit red but exercise makes it go pure beetroot soon as I stop.

Oh my goodness Eau, I didn't realise you were still recovering from your injury. Fingers crossed for you.

Fair play runtothehills I struggle to carry a running belt with water never mind a full bag!

Love the goldilocks expression, I can see me using that in the future :)

HalleLouja · 17/04/2015 11:00

3.2 miles of a gentle jog to add makes 738.2. Am still sore from my interval sessions on Tuesday. Not sure if yesterday's run helped or hindered my recovery. Grin

PoppyShakespeare · 17/04/2015 12:14

have 4.1 to add, feeling better generally but resting heart rate is still double its usual so is unsurprisingly hard work!

742.3

Knackerelli · 17/04/2015 14:46

Glad that your feeling better poppy but look after your heart!

5 mile club run last night, loved running in the light but didn't enjoy swallowing the midges, yeuch!

747.3

lastqueenofscotland · 17/04/2015 19:48

2 miles in a pitiful 21 mins this evening.

Didn't feel as slow as that! :(

Lagoonablue · 17/04/2015 19:56

Hi. I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread but felt inclined to post today! I have only just finished c25k but am now running around 3mls, 3 times a week. Not nearly as much as some of you but great for me as have never run before this year!

Still finding the run hard and not ready to move onto further longer runs yet. Once the 3 ml ( actually 2.7 ml) becomes a little easier I may move on.

I love reading about some of the long distances run on here but can never imagine doing them!

Deliaskis · 17/04/2015 19:58

Have not run today but planning to try for 10k this weekend. Never run that far before but going to give it a go on an old railway line path that is flat. Don't care how long it takes just want to see how it feels.

Neeko love 'goldilocks' run!

Neeko · 17/04/2015 21:02

Glad some of you like my new terminologyWink. Fingers crossed that you all get a goldilocks run this weekend.

Cinnamon- don't let anyone make you feel under pressure. You just grew a whole other person (and ran up until almost the day he was born!) Both these things are amazing feats. Now it's time for a little rest. Smile

Neeko · 17/04/2015 21:07

Welcome Lagoonablue.I rarely run much further than 5k due to time and childcare constraints, but if you run,you are a runner, so don't forget to add your miles to the total.

Good luck Deliaskies. I hope to do a 10k soon

Take it easy Poppy.

I think I may have learned how to bold but as I'm on the app I can't see it. Please let me know if it worked.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2015 21:11

It worked Neeko and thank you for the support Smile

stilllearnin · 17/04/2015 22:07

This is for my lower miles or slower miles friends here runnersconnect.net/coach-corner/so-what-youre-a-slow-runner/

I may have posted this before or on the c25k thread - but there are a few here not sure if they are proper runners so I thought I would do it again in case it strikes a chord.

Oh I went to Aldi tonight - nice new socks!!

Runrunrun1 · 17/04/2015 23:20

Good evening everyone. 2.96 miles from me this evening. Can we say that's 3?!

sassytheFIRST · 18/04/2015 08:44

Just under 11k yesterday evening in 73 mins. The furthest I've ever done. Didn't run it all - there was plenty of walking !- but I was pretty pleased really.

Dd had gym session for 1 1/2 hours in so used that time to run; my plan is to try and run the same route pretty regularly while she's at gym so should see improvements in time and running to walking ratio.

familygermsareok · 18/04/2015 10:34

4.85 chilly and foggy miles early this morning. Sun has come out now and looks like being a lovely day, I might try and squeeze another run in later if I can persuade DS off his Xbox!

Good luck to all the racers this weekend, and enjoy your 10k Deliaskis

Hi Lagoonablue, good to hear from you. Every run counts, and everyone started somewhere, you are doing great Smile

Re kit for muddy obstacle courses/overgrown scratchy routes, I have some knee length Hilly socks from DW sports , they are supposed to be compression but aren't really, well not compared to my proper compression calf sleeves, but they are brilliant for protecting my lower legs from scratches from brambles and I wore them for Tough Mudder last year to protect against stones in mud and scratches from tunnels. I get too hot in long trousers but found these with Capri length trousers were ok.
I also wore short sleeve top with elbow protectors as I really would overheat in long sleeves

747.3 + 2 from lastqueen + 3 from runrunrun + 6.8 from sassy + 4.85 from me = 763.95

lastqueenofscotland · 18/04/2015 11:44

Will go for a 3 mile later.

What trainers does everyone have? I'm looking for a new pair as I enjoy spending money!!
Also does anyone else have a penchant for the hideously garish?!

PoppyShakespeare · 18/04/2015 11:53

am addicted to Saucony, have a few different styles

my trail shoes are new balance and are hoka look-alikes
