2.1 last night and 3.2 to add for tonight, so 5.3 from me, making new total 631.8

suzannecanthecan · 15/04/2015 20:05

Halle, have your shorts got some special cooling mechanism?
Do share:)
I'm pondering getting some shorts to run in....

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/04/2015 20:15

3 sweaty miles after a mega stressy day. Running along the river into the sunset has made me feel so much better Smile

629.5

Gleaming I wore DS's long sleeved skin (which he wears under his rugby shirt), with a short sleeved running top over it, and my own long running tights (didn't fancy muddy legs, even though it seeps through). One of our autumn team did it in shorts.

A lovely warm canal side run of 6 miles this morning. Would love to wear shorts but need to sort out my chafing upper thighs first.Blush

640.8

AggressiveBunting · 16/04/2015 04:43

Adding another 10k (6.2 miles) from a lovely social run with a friend this morning. Headed over the trail and down a catchwater and saw 6 yellow footed herons.

Re shorts, I wear them all year round as it only gets down to about 10 degrees here. Personally I like a short leg (couple of inches below my butt) and a light technical fabric. On longer races I wear a compression short underneath but generally I like a bit of a breeze Grin

AggressiveBunting · 16/04/2015 04:45

Sorry- didnt total it - 647

Neeko · 16/04/2015 06:46

3.25 from me this morning
650.25

Still loving the new shoes Wink

HalleLouja · 16/04/2015 08:46

Suzanne I tried to post earlier but it didn't work. Let's just say not having lots of fabric on my legs helps keep them cool. Plus they have mini cooling fans in them. Mine are pretty short but seem to be ok. I have already bought another pair and may buy some more. Though the weather has now cooled.

familygermsareok · 16/04/2015 09:08

4.85 early this morning. Bloomin freezing! Was lulled into expecting spring temperatures as has been lovely the last couple of days even early on but I really wished I had worn gloves, my hands were like ice when I got back. Sunny though, so hopefully will be a nice day later.

emummy · 16/04/2015 09:17

It was pretty chilly here too, but again lovely and sunny.
6.3 from me, did 4 x 1 mile repeats, supposedly at hm pace, but still not totally sure what that will be! Think around 10min30 per mile suits me but haven't tried that for longer than 8 miles yet so not sure. Ankle slightly achy, felt fine when running.

stilllearnin · 16/04/2015 10:10

Lovely relaxed but inappropriately attired 3.1 from me today. 664.5

Sooty I've missed all the chat but neeko how's the new shoes?? Grin

stilllearnin · 16/04/2015 10:12

Sooty? Who's sooty? I meant sorry!!

5madthings · 16/04/2015 12:12

You are all brave running in shorts, I wear capri length, but have been looking at shorts, am worried about chafe... You can get baggy shorts with cycling sale shorts under, I may try some of those.
So having paid for a booked private physio for this afternoon I got a call from nhs physio as wrll. Gp said it would take 8eks from referral. But they had a cancellation so fitted me in this morning!

She was very impressed with my leg muscles and strength! But my pelvis is wobbly as fuck. So have a bunch of exercises to do to strengthen my core and stretch the muscle in my leg that is causing the hip pain. Apparently my right side is stronger than my left. She got me to do all sorts of things to watch how my hips move etc. And I have another app on 2nd may. She did say running the half on Sunday is not the best plan, but to take pain killers and ice my hip and then have a good week of rest before starting running short distances and build up. Long term it's fixable which is the main thing.

Still going to the physio this afternoon to get my hip all taped out and will hopefully do a short 8km tonight as my last run before Sunday.

Thankyou to the lovely ladies who have sponsored us Flowers

HalleLouja · 16/04/2015 12:36

Does anyone fancy joining me running, cycling, swimming or walking at least 5k per day?

Every day in May. I have already signed up...........

orangeflutie · 16/04/2015 13:08

Hi everyone I've not been able to keep up with myself and this thread lately. Everything's a bit busy.

Belated update I ran 6 miles last Sunday and 4 miles yesterday evening. I went out about 7 so it wasn't quite so hot. Lovely to run in short sleeves and capris. I do own some above knee short tights/shorts but not brave enough to wear them yet and they are a bit tight! Might have to buy some new ones. Any recommendations?

Congratulations on your new baby boy Cinnamon and hope you're managing to get some sleep.

LastGleaming · 16/04/2015 13:10

That's great that you got in so quick 5madthings and it's something that can be sorted. Think it's quite common to have one side stronger than the other, my left side is weaker too. Best of luck for Sunday, are you aiming for a particular time?

Shorts wise, I love the nike tempo ones in the summer. So light and breezy with the added bonus of included pants on the inside Grin. Have never got on with tight type shorts, I find they rub and are uncomfortable on me.

Hmm didn't think of the feeling of mud against my legs OhOne, erring towards long tights now.

Having a crazy notion of signing up for a half myself in September. Was meant to do it last year but injured myself two weeks before after doing all the training Angry. Swore last year I'd never put myself under that pressure again as I found it extremely stressful finding the time during dc's summer hols to train. Maybe I'll just start adding a little extra onto a long run and see how it goes.

I normally would walk a fair bit anyway Halle but wouldn't be the best time as I have a lot on in May.

LastGleaming · 16/04/2015 13:12

X-post, I missed Cinnamon's news. You were just pregnant when I was on the previous thread, and still running away. Massive congrats to you!!

HalleLouja · 16/04/2015 13:33

LastGleaming I just followed the same approach as you've said. Adding a bit to my LSR and it worked ok for me. My shorts are also Nike Tempos I love them so far but only used them once to run in.

Runrunrun1 · 16/04/2015 13:43

Hi everyone. 2.9 to add for me today. Nowhere near as far as lots of you run, but furthest I've ever managed, so feeling pretty chuffed with myself. Was quite warm and sunny here. I was scarlet by the time I got home! The weird thing is, that it's on the walk back home after my run that I really feel my face heating up. Why would that be?!

HalleLouja · 16/04/2015 13:59

Well done runrunrun. No need to compare yourself to anyone else just yourself. Star

Anglaise1 · 16/04/2015 16:32

I hate being too hot and only ever run in long tights when it is really cold. Otherwise capri and as soon as the temperature gets over 10°C I'm back in my Odlo shorts which are my favourite with inside layer and not tight, or my Brooks shorts. I'm lucky that I never get chafing anywhere (maybe because I have a straight up and down body, no boobs or bum). I can't run in tight tops, I bought one recently and had to take it back. The less the better in hot weather. I might treat myself to a bra top this summer (even though I probably shouldn't at my age).
I have never even thought about buying a running skirt, although they are quite popular with all ages of ladies who run road races here in France. I'd feel a complete idiot wearing a skirt on a trail race.

EauRouge · 16/04/2015 17:48

Hello, I might be back. It's been a whole year since my injury and I had a run yesterday after a 4 month break. I ache like hell today and everything is stiff, but I managed almost 5k in under 40 mins so not too shabby.

I've been doing all kinds of hip exercises and I'm bendier than I've ever been. I'm hoping this means the injury is gone for good.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/04/2015 20:40

Good to see some of you back after the winter/injuries!

I bought shorts but after seeing a parkrun photo I stopped wearing them! Have some just above knee ones now that are the same as my capris but don't wear them often.

Glad to hear physio and change of shoes is helping everyone's injuries.

Little man is doing well and despite being at the hospital every day and having tests for his kidney he's pretty chilled out. The stress of not knowing if he's going to be kept in each day is starting to get to me but he's pretty good at night. Be lovely to go and release stresses on a run, can't even walk the dogs at the moment as I don't have the core strength to hold onto them! Suppose I could go for a potter without them to try and get some head space. Have had lots of comments about whether I'm running again yet!!!! Need to be able to walk full speed first Wink
