No running from me as we've done a car boot this morning after clearing out all the stuff my boys don't needo make room form any stuff and my goodness it was windy and some heavy stinging rain in places too!!

I think January is an exceptional month Anglaise1 as lots of people start with a new exercise regime and then either slow down or stop. I am pretty static all year round distance wise, winter doesn't really stop me running and I don't do New Years resolutions for anything!

Suzannewithaplan · 29/03/2015 15:17

10.65 from me
1551.55

23mph headwinds on the sea front, very unpleasant, struggled to move let alone run Shock
coming back nearly blown off my feet Shock

Suzannewithaplan · 29/03/2015 15:21

at least that was the windspeed given online for my region today, I'm sure it must have been stronger than that, it was hanging onto lamp posts wind speed

orangeflutie · 29/03/2015 18:27

I went out fairly early this morning and fortunately managed to avoid the worst of the wind. It was raining but I was kitted out in baseball cap and rainjacket and managed around 3 and a half miles. Unfortunately I then got a pain in my left calf so glad to stretch it and walk for a bit. I ran again nearer home so probably did about 4 and a half total. I'm hoping calf will be ok next time. What with my neck injury I really don't want anything else!

I'm now taking Lyrica for the neck/ arm nerve pain and was happy that I was still able to run on it today as it seems to make me feel quite sleepy. I'm on quite a few meds at the moment for different things. Anyone else? And have you noticed if any of them help or impede running?

orangeflutie · 29/03/2015 18:28

so had

phlebasconsidered · 29/03/2015 18:43

4 from me in the rain with huge winds, not fun!
1551.55 to 1555.55

nappyaddict · 29/03/2015 19:51

hi everyone,

is it ok to join this thread? i am a beginner - no where near a half marathon or anything. i can probably manage 5k.

the weathers not great here at the moment. 40mph winds, torrential rain and hail/snow threatened. do any of you run in weather like that and conversely do you run in summer heatwaves?

twobambinos · 29/03/2015 19:53

3.1 from me on the treadmill got bored half way through so jumped on the exercise bike. then dh called me for dinner. so went back to it afterwards and finished with more bike. god it was torture. just one of those days.

1558.65

Anglaise1 · 29/03/2015 20:47

Hi Nappy and welcome! If you run you are a runner, don't worry about distances or anything like that. I'm afraid running becomes like a drug for some people (like me) so we will go out in 40mph wind, sleet, rain anything, and in the summer, we run in the sun and he

Runrunrun1 · 29/03/2015 20:53

Hello everyone. 2.6 miles from me today. Hopefully will be up to 5k soon. Nowhere near a lot of you, but I am loving it. Did today's run in the rain and with a bit of a hangover, and still enjoyed it. One thing I was a bit worried about was my iPod getting wet. I've got a showerproof top that I wear to run in when it's wet, but not sure it would have really cut it if the rain had been any heavier. What do other people do?

cinnamongreyhound · 29/03/2015 21:35

Hi nappyaddict! I have a busy life so if I have time to run the weather doesn't stop me! In the summer I tend to go 6am or 9pm so it's not too unbearably hot though Smile

emummy · 29/03/2015 21:46

runrunrun1 I wear my phone in an armband which is waterproof

Runrunrun1 · 29/03/2015 21:53

Thanks emummy, will have to look out for one for my next purchase!

LaughingM · 29/03/2015 22:39

Was supposed to do 10 miles today, but used the horrid weather as an excuse not to leave the house at all. Oops. Thankfully it's school holidays so I should be able to go out and do it tomorrow, although I have a lot of other things to do before I go away on tues so I'll have to be very disciplined!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/03/2015 23:31

Laughing I'm hoping to run tomorrow (but not as far as 10 miles Smile). Need to build myself back up after a week off with a cold. Clock change and guests for lunch today meant no running, but I'm now off until a week on Tuesday so hope to get some miles under my belt.

Welcome nappyaddict, if you run you are a runner Smile

I didn't add last week's parkrun (so fed up with not running I haven't bene posting), so that + yesterday's make 1564.25 + just noticed runrunrun1's 2.6 = 1566.85

OP posts:
AggressiveBunting · 30/03/2015 02:42

Just adding my 4 from the Crossfit commute to make 1570.85.

Nappy I am a bit of a shirker in the rain (just do treadmill as I live in an apartment complex with a gym) but I am good about the heat - have to be as live in Asia and our summers are really hot and sweaty. I kind of figure once you're soaked in sweat it can't get any worse so I just take tonnes of water and get on with it.

Off on my hols tomorrow and we are going to an island with literally nowhere to run (there is a gym but it looks pretty basic). It is Suzanne's worst holiday nightmare Grin

itsveryyou · 30/03/2015 02:51

3.5 from me today, first run in a while, no excuses, just got distracted with visitors from home and a trip away. 'Twas a gorgeous day, today, sunny run in the park with DH while DC scooted. Lovely!

Suzannewithaplan · 30/03/2015 09:07

I think I could cope with the lack of holiday gym facilities AggressiveBunting if I lived in an apartment complex with a gym and had access to all those trails for running onWink
(you lucky thing!) ?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2015 09:18

Lovely morning here - sunny but looks a bit breezy. I have a couple of bits of work to do, then my reward to myself will be going for a run.

Anglaise1 · 30/03/2015 11:44

Wanted to run this morning but need to be more disciplined when I work from home cleaning/maintaining the gites etc So giving one house a really good springclean after all the work done in there this winter and if I have time I'll run later. I must stop prioritising running over other things in my life.

karatekimmi · 30/03/2015 12:18

runrunrun I put mine in an armband but also use ikea zip lock bags (they are double locked as opposed to single ones yes I am a loser ) you need to have a hole in it somewhere but I haven't had a problem with it!!

Runrunrun1 · 30/03/2015 16:05

ah, that's a good idea karate. I had a look at all of the running gear in John Lewis today - it was fair packed full of lovely stuff... really lovely stuff... but I resisted! Who'd have thought I could ever get so excited about a long sleeved running top!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/03/2015 16:53

I keep my phone in the pocket in the back of my leggings, as long as I tie them well they don't get pulled down by it Smile

twobambinos · 30/03/2015 17:08

I keep my phone in the side pocket of the leggings they are anti jiggle ir something like that so it fits in snug.
I lost a phone to the rain from using the armbands plus I sweat under it and it was annoying.

One mile to add today. Was doing the bike so was nicely warmed up decided to see how fast I could actually do a mile Grin to think some people run that speed for a whole marathon and faster. Id be found dead.

1571.85

Welcome aboard nappyaddict.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2015 17:23

3.5 cold wet and windy hard-won miles from me this afternoon. I only kept going because I felt so guilty about polishing off the remains of the very nice but very calorific apple and pear crumble I made yesterday as a pre-run snack Grin

Tomorrow will be better it can't be worse

When I used to run with music I had an iPod mini which clipped to the neckline of my shirt/waistband of my leggings/bra strap depending on weather conditions.
