New thread for parkrunners old and new.

We are a long-running thread, but very friendly - please come and say hello, and chat about PBs, tourism, progress towards tee-shirts and anyything else about parkrun Smile

Pegwell Bay for me tomorrow :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/03/2015 23:07

I have had a horrible cold and have not run all week, but will bravely go tomorrow for the coffee and cake

DS2 says he will come with me - let's see how he's feeling tomorrow morning Smile

Happy soggy parkrunday everyone :)

If it's as damp there as it is here Ohone I think you will be one your own :)

Blathers - enjoy

Morning parkrunners!
My running bud and I are about to travel for near an hour to go to Penrose inaugural in a little while - can't wait to do a different one. It includes coast path!

Have a great day everyone!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/03/2015 11:30

No rain here and very mild! Was too hot but still managed about 32mins, was very social afterwards with lots of people wanting to ask about baby! Ran with two different people and got my club ate to finish running as she'd given up by half way up the hill for second time so all good. Felt quite emotional, but I will be back there with baby to visit and to volunteer soon enough and hopefully rd next week Grin

HalleLouja · 28/03/2015 11:46

Well done cinners.

Managed around 29 minutes. Was happy with that. After the collapsing after my HM last week I thought it was best to take it as easy as possible. Plus I couldn't go much faster today.

ThursdayLast · 28/03/2015 12:48

Well done cinnamon!

Always best to try not to collapse Halle Smile

Penrose was wild, wet and windy. A lovely course, vvv scenic in a very cornish way along the coast, with a bit of a hill around mile two. The biggest pain was that the nearest carpark is 2.5k away - so we covered about 10k in the end!

HalleLouja · 28/03/2015 14:24

Feet it looks like you missed some glitch at SA today. Apparently all the times went up the spout. Well dodged.

feetheart · 28/03/2015 15:43

Just seen that - SO glad it didn't happen last week.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/03/2015 23:26

It was cold and overcast here but DS2 and I both ran. I took it easy, DS2 started off too fast (I think) - he was 4 or 5 mins slower than his PB, and said he got stitches a couple of times. He's a really good sprinter (almost impossible to catch on the rugby pitch) but as a consequence has zero stamina.

I tried my first parkrun last weekend - we now have a local one and I have two PBs! I'm still getting used to overtaking on narrow paths - I run a lot but usually on my own, so it's a bit of a new thing for me to run with lots of other people: we had 300 at the inaugural one and 170 at this week's.

I managed 30:04 this time, which is good for me (though slow as slow can be for most locals, as it would seem from the results!)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2015 14:23

Well done vlad Smile

feetheart · 30/03/2015 17:19

Brilliant Vlad, well done.
'Slow as slow' is great as the PB potential week after week is excellent :)

It is odd running with others isn't it, took me a while but I love it now. The more you go the more you will get to know those that run around your pace which is lovely and parkrun people are really friendly regardless of how speedy, or otherwise, they are.

familygermsareok · 31/03/2015 09:48

That sounds like a lovely last pre-baby parkrun cinnamon, you are amazing and inspirational.

Penrose sounds lovely Thursday. It is a long way from a parking spot though for people with kids or who don't usually run very far, can they get dropped off closer? Just thinking about DH who enjoys doing parkrun but doesn't do any other running. When I'm doing it myself I usually park a couple of miles away to get a longer run, but he wouldn't cope with much more than the 5k so we park nearby for him or DC.

I did my 50th today so very happy, although it was muddy and wet. Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/03/2015 09:57

feet I agree, the social side of parkrun is what makes it for me. I have a little band of friends who all run about the same speed and we all encourage each other. DH hears all about them every week even though he has never met any of them Smile

Well done on your 50 germs, was that on Saturday? Did you have cake? I saw on the parkrun FB page that t-shirts should be ready in June - not much longer to wait now!

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 31/03/2015 10:05

What happened to the people who were at the end of the Adidas T-shirt phase? I know someone who has done 64 runs and still no T-shirt.

feetheart · 31/03/2015 10:26

Halle - they should be the first ones to get theirs. DS is still waiting for his 10 t-shirt and has done 18 or 19 now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/03/2015 11:33

I'm on almost 80 and am still t-shirtless Smile good job I have plenty of other freebies to run in. I'm more bothered about DS1, who is about to turn 18 - I think he has grown another inch or two since he qualified for his 10 t-shirt Grin fingers crossed they will have them in his size Grin

germs congrats on the 50!
I believe there is a small NT carpark closer to the start. We heeded the request to use the bigger one further away, but my running bud and I both thought we'd just go earlier and try and park closer Smile

It made it inconvenient enough that were the two parkrun's equal distance from me I would still choose Lanhydrock. Can't wait to try it in the summer when I'm not afeared of being swept off the cliff Grin

feetheart · 31/03/2015 11:47

Sorry, I should have said 'Congratulations on your 50' germs That's an impressive achievement.

Ohone - can we get you to 100 so you can get both t-shirts at the same time :)

Think I will get my volunteer 25 well before my 50 - hoping for the purple one this year and the red one next year. Currently on 9 and 19 but most of the next few months will be spent volunteering :)
Does it count as volunteering and running if you tail-run OhOne? Doing that with DS at SA this weekend. Then the next one we do is our inaugural ShockShock

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/03/2015 13:21

feet taking into account weeks that I know I can't run because of other commitments, and assuming no injury/illness, I should turn 100 in Sept/Oct not that I have it planned out on my calendar, no no not me

I think tailing counts for both, but it affects the number of points you get in the annual competition. As I am not anywhere in the points it doesn't bother me.

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 31/03/2015 16:43

Yes it does feetheart but you only get points for one so if you've done less than 3 volunteering stints you'll get the full 100 if youve already volunteered more you'll get the running points if there are few enough runners.

Well done familygermsareok! Those that got to 50 and ordered but didn't get will first in June along with some volunteer t-shirts and then everyone else will slowly be invited to order theirs as stock becomes available.

I have 30something volunteers and 67 runs, will be a way off 100 for a while I think.

familygermsareok · 31/03/2015 22:13

Blush Oops, yes it was Sat , not today!
I am well chuffed to see the 50 beside my name. Thanks for all the congratulations from everyone Smile
The 100 will be a fantastic achievement OhOne . We have a couple of black t shirt 100 runners here they are the wise owls of our parkrun Grin

HalleLouja · 01/04/2015 09:26

Well done familygerms!

MelanieCheeks · 01/04/2015 17:48

Met a guy on Saturday at Crystal Palace, who was running his 150th!

Like OhOne, I'm on 78ish, still waiting for my red T shirt, and planning on my 100th on my birthday in October.

Meanwhile I'm working my way to the 20 events list (on 18....) and also round the NI ones - its 20th started on Saturday in Limavady.

50congrats, germs, that's a real achievement!
