Standard parkrun day for me tomorrow Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 17/07/2015 22:12

Me too ThursdayLast, with a quick dash off as we're going out.

feetheart · 17/07/2015 22:49

Wow, fabulous Melanie, incredibly well done to your DD.

I am actually going to run tomorrow, with a very excited DS and his newly acquired 10 t-shirt (although it is his 27th run :))

ThursdayLast · 18/07/2015 07:40

Morning parkrunners!

I shall be the one trying not to puke as my super spidey sense of smell picks up all the BO smells going around Grin

MyBlackCat · 18/07/2015 10:18

Hope you got round without puking purple congratulations to you Smile

My aim this week was to break the 26min barrier. Since taking up Parkrun I've ran two different courses, one is pretty flat and last year before a bad knee injury I ran 26:00. On my new more local course which has a ridiculous hill on each lap I had got down to 26:02. Today was to be the day to finally dip under that 26 min mark.....

Well unofficially On the hilly course I smashed it GrinGrinGrin my watch tells me I finished in 25:06 - think I may need to retire now as there is no way I will ever go quicker than that. I am made up Grin

Hope everyone else has had successful mornings.

HalleLouja · 18/07/2015 10:27

Well done blackcat.

Mine was awful. 26.30 last week and 29.00 (ish) this week. I did do a 5k race (which was a bit more challenging route) in between and two hiit classes and another run and and and. Anyway I did it. I didn't just lie in my bed. I just wish I wasn't so cross with myself.

HalleLouja · 18/07/2015 10:30

I did have a friendly tussle with a guy chasing me today. We ran a bit together as he was using me as a pacemaker and he out sprinted me at the end no mean feat.

MelanieCheeks · 18/07/2015 11:41

Ooooh, well done blackcat!

I was a teeny bit hungover this morning (sister's 50th birthday do last night), so I was happy enough with 27 something. And had a good chase/ sprint finish with one of our juniors. And my new wristband barcode scanned. And I came home to find the postman had delivered my 50 T shirt! Yay! I can wear it next week, doing my 90th run.

steppemum · 18/07/2015 16:23

afternoon all.
a new PB for me, so all that hill running last week paid off.

40:05 (ok so not in your league blackcat Grin)
was trying to break the 40 barrier. But this is 28 seconds faster than my previous PB so I am happy.

friend of ours was on the corner about 1km from the end and when he saw me he called out - The 40 marker is too fast, you are going to make it, keep going - and it was very encouraging, and it did make me speed up. Grin

ThursdayLast · 18/07/2015 16:44

Well done Black & Steppe in the PBs, SUCH a great feeling!

I got around - ploddy mcplodderton but hey ho.

Exciting about your 50 tee Melanie Grin

And don't be so hard on yourself Halle!

Some foolish bloke today really pushed himself up the hills - he was doing walking/sprinting which personally I find v annoying, but he got to the top where his friends were waiting for him cheering him on. Then instead of turning left to run 500m downhill, he gave up turned right and went back to the car park without finishing Shock.

I'll be honest friends. I thought he was an idiot.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/07/2015 19:41

Well done on your PBs black and steppe Smile

Thursday I had an extra squirt of deodorant just for you this morning Grin

I had a nice time at Cambridge, nice shady course around the country park. I think that's my 16th or 17th different course.

I had a bit of a panic getting there, I was late setting off because DS1 (who took himself off to our home parkrun on his own) needed his barcode printing and only my laptop is set up to talk to our printer. When I got in the car it asked for fuel, so then had to stop at the petrol station. I had put the address in my satnav, which showed up as "[postcode] Cambridge pa", so was happy I was going to the right place. Then realized that I was heading to the Cambridge park and ride and panicked that I'd chosen the wrong destination (park and ride is also one of my satnav favorites Smile). Drove into the park and ride car park and checked, only to find that I was almost at parkrun, had been correct all along and had made myself even later. I got there with a minute to spare, in desperate need of a wee Grin

fakenamefornow · 18/07/2015 20:14

Oh, a parkrun thread! Fantastic!

My DD did her tenth pr last week, I stupidly forgot our barcodes though. She was very forgiving and hasn't complained once.

MelanieCheeks · 19/07/2015 08:29

Ah, fakename, #DFYB.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/07/2015 09:45

I had a horrible morning and started my home parkrun late but didn't finish the first lap and just ran home, won't go into the details but hopefully all sorted now.

Good to hear lots of you had lovely parkruns Grin

fakenamefornow · 19/07/2015 09:47

#DFYB?

ThursdayLast · 19/07/2015 10:00

Don't Forget Your Barcode Smile

chutneypig · 19/07/2015 11:36

Some great times here. Well done everyone. I was more in the made it round category. DD did the first lap but dropped out as was too hot for her. I was well over two minutes off my PB but felt like a better run than the last one I did. I'm not built for heat. Or speed Grin. But it felt good to get round.

That mans behaviour is baffling Thursday. How strange. I did think of you at the start of ours when we were all packed in together.

Fakename, hello! Well done your daughter, DS would sulk for weeks. He's on 8 now, but didn't feel like running yesterday. I'm not sure whether it was the lure of his tablet or that I'd managed his expectations based on the T shirt lag I found out on this thread!

Hope all is ok cinnamon.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/07/2015 11:45

That needs to be the next thread title Smile

cinners my love, hope your day is better today ((()))

Well done Haribo and fakename's DD

I am seriously impressed with you quick runners, I can only dream of getting anywhere near the 25 min mark! My dh bought me a book for Christmas called "how to run faster" - I really need to read it. My problem is that I don't like to push myself too hard, either in training or on a Parkrun, so my times are very variable depending on what sort of mood I am in on the day. However now that I have got all my planned races out of the way I am going to concentrate on bringing down my 5k time.
Yesterday morning I marshalled our new local Parkrun, complete with a shocking hangover Confused I actually threw up just before I got there Blush. I'm sure the fresh air did me good though (even if I did crawl back into bed afterwards). The weather was gorgeous and the runners were all so happy it was impossible not to enjoy it. And next week I plan to run the course for the first time, finally!
I did the Race For Life 10k this morning in blazing sunshine. My time was 55 minutes but I don't think the course had been measured properly because my watch only registered 9.1k - which would make sense with my finishing time (my 10k PB is 59 mins and I'm not at my peak). I will compare with other runners at work tomorrow, maybe I took a wrong turn and cut some of the course off? It was very convoluted and lots of doubling back on yourself. Oops.

feetheart · 19/07/2015 21:50

officelady - running it will be all the sweeter for all your volunteering so far.

Well done to everyone who ran and hugs for those feeling rough for whatever reason.

I ran with DS (in his new 10 t-shirt :o) and his little mate. They chatted all the way round and left me for dead on the final hill (that's our finishing straight) ho hum :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/07/2015 23:22

Ooh my profile has changed and now it says I can claim my tee shirt soon Grin

steppemum · 20/07/2015 22:00

Office - my goal is to get below 40! Even dh who is fit and runs longer runs for fun, is only just under 27.
I figure if I ever get down to under 30, I think I will sign up for a marathon!

chutneypig · 21/07/2015 07:10

Office - I'm another one dreaming of under 30 but it feels a very long way off. I decided at the weekend that I'd start training for a 10k. Still feels a bit ambitious but hopefully at least will help with my parkrun time. I've got my eye on one locally in October but noticed the slowest runner was 73 minutes last year. my parkrun PB is 31 odd and I'm a way off repeating that so we'll see. 59 looks pretty fabulous to me! I wasn't convinced by the distance for the Race for Life 5k I did with DD this year, but wasn't sure whether all the hanging round to get over the line confused my GPS. Our time was good though and given the slow start I was suspicious but didn't want to rain on DDs parade!

I'm may be the slowest in the family but I might be able to run the furthest. At least until DS is old enough, he was disgusted he isn't allowed yet.
