Runners quite often leave keys with me when I'm rd cheapandcheerful or thread it on your laces? I personally live very close so I run to mine Smile

cheapandcheerful · 19/06/2015 16:27

Ahh ok, some good ideas! Thanks!

MelanieCheeks · 20/06/2015 07:46

Most that I've been to have a biscuit tin/ bag with skulls on/ bucket to put small belongings in. Otherwise, my best bit of kit is my wrist sweatband with integral pocket, where I keep a spare bar code, couple of jelly babies, and car key if needed.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/06/2015 09:58

Hope you have all had lovely parkruns this morning. Looking forward to your reports!

I'm running at midday today so gave myself the morning off. I didn't wake up until 9:30 Grin

Our times aren't through yet but I reckon DD got a PB. I'd like to say I would have done if I wasnt running with her but I'd be lying Grin. Comfortable run but I didn't feel I had much more in me today. Nice to get out though, even in the drizzle. I may not say that when the photos are up.

chutneypig · 20/06/2015 11:27

Enjoy your run ohone.

ThursdayLast · 20/06/2015 11:34

Morning!

I somehow overslept (how us that even possible with a 2yo? I don't know!!!) so was only just not late for volunteering. Luckily I was barcode scanning so I didn't screw anything up Grin

I love barcode scanning.

10 miler in same location tomorrow SEND HELP

chutneypig · 20/06/2015 11:44

I'd be terrified of scanning, do you get lots of issues with things not working? Or am I just being paranoid? Congratulations on oversleeping with a two year old, I'm impressed!

meglet · 20/06/2015 11:47

cheap I've got a karrimor bumbag for running. it's handy when I'm doing parkrun with the kids or out on a longer run when I might want a drink. It holds a mini bottle, phone, keys, tissues and a bank card. iirc it was only a fiver or so.

It annoyed me a bit at parkrun today though because it felt quite hot and sticky. easier than stuffing clutter in my pockets though.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/06/2015 12:03

I ran in 28:12 this week, I processed the results which didn't go to plan so took me ages Sad. Plus I had to talk to the manager in the country park where we start and finish about forestry commission permission and fees so I was out quite a while. Very sticky run today and I've got home to find my washing machine is still full of water, tried to spin it and it made a funny noise and all lights are off, dh is annoyed at me over it so my lovely parkrun morning has ended in a grumpy stressy morning, pants! Hope everyone else had a better start to the weekend!

HalleLouja · 20/06/2015 12:44

I loved Panshanger this morning. Beautiful course will definitely be back.

Cinners maybe your DH needs a kick where it hurts Wink.

ThursdayLast · 20/06/2015 13:14

Well, you're weekend can only get better then eh cinnamon? I hope you get your machine fixed, I feel bereft when mine is up the spout. I envisage mountains of washing that only get bigger...

thanks chutney Grin to be fair, DH had taken DS into the spare room with him because he was s little under the weather yesterday. So if he was awake he was harassing DH instead of hollering from his cot as usual!
I really love barcode scanning, but you do have to work quite quickly and confidently. If there's ever any problems, we send them over to the RD!

LornMowa · 20/06/2015 13:15

Very chuffed with myself as I knocked another 6 seconds of my PB.

I'm delighted at how well our new Parkrun is going. Its in its second week and we had a field of over 200. There were quite a few tourists from what I can tell. We are quite near the M1 though so it probably makes an easy trip for people from far and wide.

Cinnamon - did you overdose with the washing powder? That can sometimes make a washing machine go into a grumpy sulk.

cheapandcheerful · 20/06/2015 14:09

Our parkrun had to change its course today due to another park event and it was haaaaaard :(
Loads of hills, tree roots, running on grass (which I have never done before) and apparently it was a bit further than 5k. I was 6 mins slower than my usual. Grrrr.....

HalleLouja · 20/06/2015 14:10

Feet do you have any washing facilities at your parkrun? Call me crazy but have a 1130 flight to Belfast on Saturday and thinking of sneaking in a cheeky parkrun first.... Can't be too sweaty but might apply the wipes technique to freshen up and have a shower before going out...

Foxongiraffe · 20/06/2015 14:56

Hello please may I join? I did my first park run today!

HalleLouja · 20/06/2015 15:00

Hi Fox welcome to the madhouse.

chutneypig · 20/06/2015 17:34

Hi Fox. I'm guessing you enjoyed it because you've stopped by here. How did you find it?

That's what I call dedication Halle. But it'd be good to shaken off some fidgets before a flight.

That sounds frustrating cheap. Hopefully it'll all be back to normal next week.

Poor you Cinnamon. Hope the days got better for you.

Congratulations Lorn on the time. That's an impressive number too, great to hear.

Maybe I'll be brave Thursday. I'm marshalling at our juniors tomorrow but DD is keen to volunteer next week, so thought tail running might be the thingto try. I guess there'll be lots of opportunity over the summer to try different roles.

We've a happy household here. Everyone got a PB except me. But well worth it, DD's face was a picture as she crossed the line. So many of the runners were so encouraging of her, it was lovely. We're not too far adrift of my PB andDS is much happier running with he his faster father than me!

Foxongiraffe · 20/06/2015 18:18

Thank you halle and chutney yes it was great. I have never done any kind of organised running before and everyone was really supportive. My time was very slow but I ran all the way without stopping!

cinnamongreyhound · 20/06/2015 19:04

Hi Foxongiraffe! Well done on your first parkrun.

On a more positive note, dh pulled out the washing machine and the plastic box on the wall where the cables go is burnt and melted Shock he couldn't get the fuse out so we've bought a new one. He's fitted it and it's turned back on, I've put a tiny load in and we'll see. Just a bit worried whatever happened to cause it will happen again! Results are all up now so my stress has reduced again Smile

RD next week and then off to Wimpole parkrun Grin

ThursdayLast · 20/06/2015 19:37

Hello fox.
Sine fellow park runners and I were just saying today how lovely and not intimidating the atmosphere at parkrun. So welcoming.

It's my 50th next week yaaaaaaay

chutneypig · 20/06/2015 19:41

That's so exciting Thursday, very inspirational!

Foxongiraffe · 20/06/2015 21:15

50?! Wowzers! Amazing. Do you find your time fluctuates a lot or are you generally getting faster?

ThursdayLast · 20/06/2015 21:29

Oh thank you both Smile. You're very kind, honestly, on the thread I'm
practically a newbie still!

My times definitely fluctuate - I found very quickly that if I focused all my effort on getting a PB I didn't enjoy it, I'd push myslelf too hard and my lungs would burn. So now I just go with flow, sometimes I feel good, sometimes I don't Smile

Blatherskite · 20/06/2015 22:38

I took a friend around her first parkrun this morning. She's going to 'graduate' from the beginners group at next week's parkrun but wanted to try it beforehand to prove to herself that she could do it and boost her confidence. She did too! She ran the whole thing non stop for the first time ever and in a really good time too Grin

It was doubly special as it was the 250th parkrun for another friend of mine so I had two friends there at totally opposite ends of the spectrum, both really enjoying their runs. I love parkrun.

It's our junior parkrun inaugural event tomorrow! It's looking really, really popular if the facebook likes are anything to go by so it could be a big first event. Wish us luck!
