I'll be the one in the red Striders top trying desperately to keep up with a small boy in a Luton AC vest :)

cinnamongreyhound · 20/05/2015 03:36

She's usually in pink with sun glasses. Will have to check out results and see if you're near each other Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/05/2015 08:52

I am not parkrunning this week. Instead we will be watching DS1 collect a prize at his school speech day Smile. No idea what the prize is for yet, but nice that he has been recognized for something.

Worth missing it for then! Well done not so mini OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

HalleLouja · 21/05/2015 09:58

Feet I ran Fritton Lake. I found it quite hard work for some reason. I think it was really windy or something.... I do want to try Gorleston Cliffs next time I am in that part of the world.

Blatherskite · 22/05/2015 16:59

MK is cancelled this week due to some big Outdoor Show thing on at the park so.....I'm leaving at 6:30am to go to Swindon. As you do Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 22/05/2015 18:10

Grin blatherskite!

ThursdayLast · 22/05/2015 18:43

Sounds like a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning ohone.

cinnamon I hope the bun decides to behave himself!

Have fun Blathers you total loon Wink

I am rotten with cold, terrible cold and sore throat, so I am going to see how I feel in the morning about running. I probably will, but with a pack of tissues. They're over run with volunteers already so I can't even offer to do that!

locketpocket · 22/05/2015 19:52

Do you mind if I join?

I completed the c25k about 2 weeks ago, can run 5k around 34mins, so going for my first parkrun tomorrow morning. Feeling a bit nervous now though.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/05/2015 20:12

Welcome locketpocket hope you enjoy tomorrow Smile

Blathers have fun crazy tourist lady

Hope you feel better soon Thursday

You'll have a blast locket!
Well, maybe not on the way round, but you'll have the parkrun glow for the rest of the weekend!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2015 05:07

Join away locketpocket, we are typical parkrunners friendly and welcoming Grin. Have a lovely time at your first parkrun and please report back!

Mumonabroom · 23/05/2015 05:49

No parkrun for me today, as at brother in law's wedding. Going to volunteer for the first time next week (have run 7, want to give something back). Which job would you go for? I was thinking marshalling to ease myself into it?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2015 06:01

Marshalling is definitely easiest, I enjoy timekeeping and find scanning quite stressful, everyone is different though so just try whatever you fancy Smile

ThursdayLast · 23/05/2015 06:57

I got thrown straight in with timekeeping and back up time keeping my first few times - we're often putting out a call for volunteers in the week though, so it's what ever you're given sometimes!

I quite like barcode scanning, it's a bit more sociable somehow. Well Im down for that in a couple of weeks so it's a good job I like it Smile

None of the jobs are too taxing, and you'll be well briefed. It's certainly the best way to get to know people!

EATmum · 23/05/2015 07:31

Taking eldest DD (13) park running with me today. She likes the idea of it but I know from last time that she'll need lots of encouragement! But I'm pleased she wants to, even if my time will be very low! And the sun is shining ... Smile

locketpocket · 23/05/2015 10:52

First parkrun - done! The course was a lot harder than I thought, even though I know the area well. I'm sure it's not that hilly when we go for walks....
But I completed in a very respectable time (for me) and made 2 new friends (everyone else was really friendly too Smile

holmessweetholmes · 23/05/2015 11:06

Shock Just tried doing Parkrun on an empty stomach for the first time (I sometimes get a dodgy tummy after running). Never again! I thought I wasn't going to make it to the finish, which is pretty bad since my last run was 16k! Clearly I need the fuel. Inhaled a bacon roll at the café afterwards Grin.

ThursdayLast · 23/05/2015 12:01

How did you and DD get on EAT?

Well done locket! I'm glad you had a good time, it really is a great way to meet other runners .

holmes I always do my parkrun on an empty stomach - leaves room for the Maccy Ds breakfast in the way home Wink.
Some days it works better than others to be honest.

holmessweetholmes · 23/05/2015 12:04

Thursday - to say it didn't work for me would be an understatement! I may have to go for breakfast first, then second breakfast afterwards, hobbit - style Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/05/2015 13:40

Glad you enjoyed it locketpocket, well done.

Hope your dd didn't need too much encouragement EATmum!

Sorry you didn't get on with running on empty holmessweetholmes, it's the only way for me but we all find what suits us and you'll know in future!

I was RD today, little man needed a feed at around 9.20 and I had a reasonable amount of sleep so felt ok getting up. Everyone was lovely and he got a few cuddles but I did forget some bits of the pre run briefing Blush

HalleLouja · 23/05/2015 14:33

I did parkrun on an empty stomach too. I do it quite often that way, if I can't be arsed to get out of bed. Time nowhere near PB but faster than my average..... To be fair I am running, cycling and walking every day in May so legs are a bit wrecked so was happy with the time.

Well done everyone.

Blatherskite · 23/05/2015 16:37

I always run on an empty stomach. I feel sick otherwise and it leaves room for the pub breakfast the tourist boys always stop for on the way home. I should have drunk more before this morning's run though and it was very warm and I felt quite dehydrated by the end. I was almost a minute off PB but my speed is coming back slowly. New shoes helped I think as they felt very bouncy in comparison to my old, battered ones. The start at Swindon didn't help as it was very congested and there are a couple of low, long hills in there to tire out the legs too.

Still, event number 33 done and it was a good warm up for my 10k obstacle race tomorrow Wink

You know you're in trouble when entry to a 10k mud fest is your closest mates idea for a good birthday present Grin

eatpuddingdrinkwine · 23/05/2015 18:55

Hello i have not been on this thread for ages as injured and unable to run .But am so proud of my 8 year old need to tell people who will understand Wink she did a pb of 26.47 ! Iam holding on to the family pb by 2 seconds but not for longGrin

locketpocket · 23/05/2015 22:59

Eat - that is fantastic for your dd, well done!! Ds1(10) is a runner (with school & athletics club) He puts me to shame quite easilyGrin (he's also the reason I started running)
