We are a long-running thread, but very friendly - please come and say hello, and chat about PBs, tourism, progress towards tee-shirts and anyything else about parkrun Smile

I love that we all aspire to 'get around a bit' Grin

Usernamegone · 11/04/2015 11:32

Exeter Riverside Parkrun today. Lovely and sunny but quite windy. Was a bit annoyed I was 2 minutes slower than last time but I'm blaming the wind!

meglet · 11/04/2015 11:52

inaugural new course layout in basingstoke today. It's been getting so popular they've had to tweak it to minimise lapping and crowding.

obviously I will blame the rain and new course when me and ds fail to get a decent time Grin .

karatekimmi · 11/04/2015 13:45

Happy to get around my local course (although have a spot of tourism lined up for June) still waiting on my time, but around 42 mins I think!!

applecatchers36 · 11/04/2015 13:50

Hackney Marshes park run, bit windy & overcast but best time this year so far. First time without running with sister so less chatting more action I reckon Wink

Blatherskite · 11/04/2015 21:50

Crikey, I go on holiday and come back to Weddings and babies!! Congratulations cinnamon and Thursday!

Missed parkrun while I was away as they don't have one where I was but I made up for it by running at Melton Mowbray this morning. It meant getting up at 6am for the third day running but I needed to be there anyway for a family thing so it seemed daft not to go a little earlier and sneak in some tourism. I'm now on 111 parkruns and am still waiting for my 100 t-shirt too! Going to run my brother's 100th with him next weekend which will be fun. Not a new course for me but I'm taking 'the wife' and it will be for her.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/04/2015 22:23

I need to pick your brains!
parkrun Run reports and Facebook - what engages you?

There is a format for run reports but some seem to make them deathly boring SA I'm looking at you whilst others make them much more interesting and personal.
Facebook also seems to be a bit hit and miss.

How does it work for parkruns you have been to? Got any good examples, particularly of run reports.

parkrun task for today - make hi-vis jumpers for the bollards in the middle of the course :o

cinnamongreyhound · 14/04/2015 17:08

We don't always do a run report. We usually post something on fb on a Saturday and sometimes copy and paste the journalists report from the email into that.

karatekimmi · 14/04/2015 18:29

We don't have a run report, but the stats are posted on facebook. facebook gets used a lot for general chat - supports of Telford parkrun. Rather than the official Telford parkrun page though.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/04/2015 07:19

We don't have a regular run report, and our Facebook page is defunct Sad

Panshanger and Wimpole are pretty good with their FB IMHO

Our fb page is fairly active - the run reports don't happen every week but they're usually like the pre-run talk with the stats added on the end.

Lots of pr tourists get in touch that way to make enquiries. I think that's good because anyone can answer and it takes the pressure off the RDs.

I like to see the pictures shared Smile

Cor I reckon I'm just about recovered from the weekend now, really looking forward to parkrun this week -ain't no way it's gonna be a PB week!

How are the WOLFS?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/04/2015 07:43

Morning Thursday Smile.

I'm still a bit battered and bruised (and still trying to work out how I got some of them Grin), but the bruises are fading nicely. I did a 10K on Sunday with DS1 - in that we drove to the event together, walked to the start together and I left him in the 50-55 minute part of the pen and went to the back of the crowd. He was waiting for me at the end, having finished 15 minutes before me, collected our bag and gone back to the finish to cheer me on Grin. I foam rollered on Saturday and Sunday night and am sure that the torture at the time made a difference - I even did a (slow) 5K on Monday afternoon.

Looking forward to feet's inaugural now on Saturday.

feet both DSs are coming, and DS1 is more than happy to run with minifeet if he wants to go faster than he would with me. We are sorted for parking as well - my friend has a family member who lives locally and he says we can park on his drive. If the weather stay like this it will be FAB!

And yes, I like seeing parkrun pictures on the FB pages. We have a flickr page, but as we very rarely seem to have a photographer, there aren't often pictures.

Hoping to be able to wrap little man in the sling and spectate at parkrun Saturday. Tempted to offer to volunteer but with hospital today and tomorrow don't want to let anyone down if we can't make it. Feeling better every day at the moment so sure I can manage and hour or so standing.

I love parkrun photos on fb page too, we don't get offers or photographers often either which is a shame. We have one lady marshal who always asks to be at the bottom of our hill as it has best light for photography and takes photos as well as marshalling but that's probably ever two months.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/04/2015 22:13

That's great progress cinnamon. Hope DS continues to do well Smile

Cinnamon - hope hospital trips go well. Sounds like you are doing really well if you are up to standing around cheering for an hour - best get him used to it as early as possible :o

Thanks for the run report/FB feedback - I've had a look at a few more now so have a better idea of what I want to do. This whole tech side is stressing me out far more than all the practical get a venue, get a team together, raise £3000, find volunteers, do a test run etc.

Ohone - DS is delighted at the idea of running with your DS1 :) I've no idea how he will get on though. Since he started athletics training on a Thursday evening he hasn't got near his PB and has struggled once or twice. I think the excitement on the day (both the inaugural and running with a big boy :)) will get him round in style though!

I still have a few unexplained bruises from last Saturday too, though nothing like last time. However I did have really achy shoulders, chest and upper arms (from the swim I think) and a huge bite on the back of my neck which is still itching like mad Angry. I also had an iffy digestive system on Sunday which may or may not have been related to wading/swimming/stumbling through stinky water/mud.
Looking forward to wearing my funky hard-earned t-shirt at club tonight :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/04/2015 07:17

feet DS1 is happy to go at minifeet's pace Smile

He tough like his mum and dad OhOneOhTwoOhThree, should know more of long term plan after yesterday's hideous procedure. Will let you know when we do! Luckily he will forget it all, dh and I not lucky. He's already had more medication in invasive treatments at 6 days than ds2 at 4.5 years!

feetheart · 16/04/2015 12:13

Oh Cinnamon Flowers and hugs to you and DH. It's beyond awful for you when they have to go through anything horrible, especially such a tiny one. I hope there is a lot of Brew, Biscuit and Cake in your house at the moment.

MelanieCheeks · 16/04/2015 14:51

How's babygreyhound today?

I love facebook reports - we have 2 or 3 regular writers who are quite witty. They'll do the placings for male, female, and juniors, as well as any other noteworthy performances. Always photos of red and black T shirt winners, plus the monthly Sweatshop prizewinner. Other action shots are a bit hit and miss - if there's a marshall with a camera, then we get some.

When I'm in tourist mode, the first thing I do is check out the fb page. Then the official page to see what the best time for my age category is there....
