Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

P.s. Fullsteam, I am afraid I can't share my chocolate...it's for your own good! Grin

Fullsteamahead · 08/05/2015 09:31

Morning guys :) A gorgeous sunny morning here, the birds are singing and the morning run was fab!!! I think I was going a bit faster than usual as my little puppy gave up at the end and I had to carry him for the last 200 meters! :)

Fullsteamahead · 08/05/2015 09:32

Sarah, Lol!!!

Boobz · 08/05/2015 09:52

What is your average speed per KM?

Boobz · 08/05/2015 10:05

And thanks all - I am hoping for a much more defined Day 60 photo! And a less gammy portacath!

Fullsteamahead · 08/05/2015 11:15

Boobz, Im not a runner at all, until very recently I'd never have thought I could run any distance. I do a circular run which is roughly 2.5 miles long and I manage it in about 25 minutes. So I think it works out as 9.6 km per hour. No idea how good or bad that is though :)

Just finished P90x legs and back and Insanity Cardio Abs. Loved the leg workout, particularly those Sneaky Lunges! Do you remember those?

Boobz · 08/05/2015 11:31

Oh yes - they go on FOREVER if I seem to recall.

I am just doing some cancer admin and then going to do day 1 as my day 2. I am proper stiff from yesterday's work out though - ugh! I am so happy to be working out again though.

How are you liking Tony? Are his jokes working for ya?

Boobz · 08/05/2015 11:32

Oh and for running - try to get to sub 5mins per km. Then you are a runner, imho. Buy a Garmin.

Boobz · 08/05/2015 13:36

Sorry for all the millions of posts - I am post-trigger-happy after a month of silence!

I remembered how much I love P90X again! Yes Tony's a tool, but it's so good to do HARD strength exercise, millions of push ups and pulls, and to feel the muscle fibres pinging in a way that Insanity doesn't do. I think I am going to love this. But I have lost so much fitness (or P90 fitness at least - when I finished 90 days of P90X in 2013, I could do 10 unaided pull ups - I could only do 1 today! Argh - a long way to go!)

Cardio abs was hard too - I couldn't do the whole thing without stopping, like I could just 30 days ago. Sheesh.

Boobz · 08/05/2015 13:37

*pull ups

Purpleraindeer · 08/05/2015 18:29

Good work on the running fullsteam. I am going to try to get a run in at the weekend too. I enjoyed last weeks so much I was thinking about entering a 10k at the end of June.
Boobz it's nice to have you back with your hard core posts! I know what you mean re feeling strong. I'm nowhere near as strong as you but I love the feeling of doing a proper press up. I even heft ds' car seat about more than usual as I like the feeling of being able to lift it!
Did max sweat today and loved it! I must be getting fitter as it killed me last week. Am thinking about doing the insanity workout I found on Vimeo tomorrow but will need DH to watch the kids. No way they will be able to play quietly for an hour whilst I jump about.
Have a good evening all! Might have a glass of wine tonight to celebrate the weekend....

Fullsteamahead · 08/05/2015 22:18

OMG Boobz!!! I don't think I'll ever get to 5 min per km!!! I'm with you on P90x, the workouts are great and I too really feel how my muscles really work. Feels really good to do them slowly and thoroughly. I'm feeling a bit under the weather tonight, can't quite put my finger on it, not sure if I'm coming down with something or it's just overexcersing today. Will wait and see how I feel in the morning, got Pure Cardio to do tomorrow!!!

I really wish I had a zip for my mouth, I never stopped eating today, again an approximate calorie entry on MFP as I can't remember every single thing I consumed!

Night night, off to bed to get some sleep, feel shattered!

Boobz · 09/05/2015 07:55

Ouch! My chest and under my armpits are in agony! P90X Shoulder and Arms and Ab Ripper X today.

5 mins/km is a 1 hour time for 10km - am sure you can do that!

So what is the MFP you all do? How does one do it?

yumyumpoppycat · 09/05/2015 15:34

Boobz MFP sign up here www.myfitnesspal.com/ I am bfmummy so you can search for me and ask to be friends. You could just check out our comments etc by being our friends ... if anyone has enough on their plates and a reason not to log their daily food its you!!

I think MFP should guide you on set up when you register to enter your stats, set a weightloss/ gain target etc, and generally you can set your activity to sedentry or low and add in exercise each day, or you can set your activity higher to account for exercise in advance in which case you don't add in exercise each day. You can change the macros to work with the zone diet if you want by going to goals, change goals, custom.

Jackster I did piyo drench, parts of it feel really beyond me and other parts too easy! - I hoovered instead of warming up doing that strange bendy move and I also had a mini break because my sister arrived! I thought it was a bit long but enjoyed parts of it. The problem with piyo for me is that I don't really have enough room to do it comfortably and also it is hard to follow as head down often and sometimes the routines are quite fast and complicated? I do like the idea of better posture, slender limbs etc which app pilates is good for so will persevere! That Chalene is amazingly fit to lead the exercises talking and going through the entire workout pretty much!

Hi everyone.

Rest day for me yesterday. I am half woman/half biscuit today so made myself go for a quick run. I think my fastest speed is a 9 min mile which is about 5.5 kmph. When I started running I was doing 11-12 min miles so I have come a long way but I only run once in a blue moon now. I have defo improved speed since doing T25 and JM. Although the tea/biscuit sloshing slowed me down a bit today - baulk!

MFP people - I have been reading up on macro nutrients (there is an article in this month's Women's Health). Do you use MFP to calculate the macro nutrients of each meal? How? Also, it said for weight loss aim for 45% of your calories to come from protein. Really?! Do any of you do that?

Hope you not too achey still Boobz.

Sarahlouboo · 09/05/2015 19:05

P.s. My MFP pals who commented on my baked beans on toast and champagne combo - Imelda Staunton in THe Times today said she celebrated opening night with this meal. I am a trend setter - which one of you is Imelda Staunton?!

yumyumpoppycat · 09/05/2015 20:31

Grin not me Sarahlou!

At the moment before exercise mine is set at 1300 cals 15 % carbs (nearly always go over); 20 % protein (65 grams - often go over); 65 % fat (never really go over even yesterday when I had over 800 cals of carrot cake Blush ). Go to MY Home > Goals scroll down the page and go to green button (change goals) > select custom option then press green 'continue' button.

I think recommendations of levels of protein vary a lot [confuesd].

Evening all Smile

boobz hope the aching guys away quickly - am sure you won't but don't push yourself too hard!

I don't understand macros etc. I don't use MFP's calories allowance, I use a tdee calculator and manually input that instead. I am on my eat whatever I want day which is just Aswell as I have been out for a meal for mil's birthday Wink

Did core cardio today - hate it! Can't explain what it is about it that I hate but I just do.

Have been looking at Slim in 6 - anyone tried it? It is a low impact training programme based on 6 weeks but wondering if it would be too easy after T25?

Fullsteamahead · 09/05/2015 23:01

Hi all, another heavy eating day here. Feel seriously huge today. Sarah, I may well be all biscuit here not just half!!! Lol. What's next, think the only thing I've not had today yet is Champagne and Beans! But hey, the day is not over yet ;)

Despite feeling rubbish and having sore throat I managed Pure Cardio this morning but did struggle all through.

Sarah, here is a good TDEE calculator for you. You need to calculate your Body Fat Percentage first (there are plenty calculators online). The calculator will give you your min calorie intake as well as the breakdown of macros.

iifym.com/iifym-calculator/

Yumyum. I would try the calculator too, your cals seem seriously low but the fat figure seems rather high which is a bit odd...

Boobz, I'm with you on the muscle pain, can't remember the last time I experienced such intense muscle ache. Tony definitely rocks, my inner thighs are killing me!

Purpleraindeer · 10/05/2015 00:23

Saturday must be pig out day as I have done the same. I've not even bothered with mfp as I don't even know how much I've eaten. I my defence it was a night out with the girls and my first ever night without doing bath and bed for one of the kids so felt like a real treat. I'm full of cocktaiLs and pizza. Poor DH didn't have such a good eve tho.
Meant to do insanity max interval circuit which I found online but ran out of time so did speed 2.0. Was a mistake having a glass of water beforehand, it sloshed about all the way thru and gave me a stitch!
Rest day tomorrow. I think I may have a hangover ......

spookyskeleton · 10/05/2015 19:00

Quiet day here today!

Ript circuit this morning, quite enjoyed it.

Re running, 5 minutes per km is fast boobz. I am so far away from that speed it is laughable but I am just glad I am out running regardless of speed. A mile is a mile whether it takes you 5 minutes or 15 minutes Wink

Boobz · 10/05/2015 22:56

Indeed Spooky - getting out and running is the most important thing. I think I will do that on my "rest" days, like I did when I first did P90 back in 2012/13.

The muscle ache is great isn't it Fullsteam - it's very true that your body gets used to a routine - I think a full year of Insanity was making my body complacent - I think this is going to do wonders for me. Did Shoulders and Arms, and Ab Ripper X today - again I am sooo stiff! Pure Cardio tomorrow and then Legs and Back on Tuesday and then a run on Wednesday. And then only a week until my next Chemo, flying back to the UK etc.

Hair still there. Although it itches now so I think it's going to go soon. I will need to buy one of those McEnroe headbands so the sweat doesn't blind me given I will have no eyebrows to catch the sweat as normal!

Boobz · 10/05/2015 22:57

Oh and DH has just joined this site - will let you know how he goes (it looks hardcore - similar to Cross Fit).

Freelectics

Jacksterbear · 11/05/2015 12:54

Weekend off exercise, having completed week 2 of the hybrid last fri. Just kicked off week 3 with Rip't circuit. poppy I'm Grin at the thought of you substituting hoovering for the PiYo warm-up - very efficient! - and completely agree with you about PiYo and about Drench in particular. I notice it comes up again later this week! Hmm

fullsteam and boobz your hybrid sounds hardcore (I expect no less from you guys)!

Sounds like a few of us had fun weekends - I did - went to a school reunion - and was pleased to feel more in shape and happy with my appearance than I did at the last one 10 years ago (pre-DC but also pre-exercise days Grin).

Intrigued by the thought that one of us could be Imelda Staunton. Why not?!!
