Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Sorry I have been away for ages ladies. Tinter was dicky. Am knee deep into round two of Insanity and can really notice the difference from the first time round. Def a lot more flexible in the stretches as well as able to go a bit harder at the exercises as well as seeing results on the bod. Even Tanya doesn't bug me just as much lol. I now have three pet lambs but at least am not feeding through the night so am not just as wrecked. I am sorry but am too lazy to back through all the feed. How's Boobz going?

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2015 16:17

Jems ahhh baby lambs and Insanity ... congrats on both!

Defo up for that hybrid Jackster, let me know what settings to put and I will try to keep up, extra motivation!

Did piyo strength intervals today, a lot more T25ish than the other workouts I have tried.

Spooky yes we can both get to a 12 by the summer! {said with determination!!}

Youcan, exciting choice...be great to hear how you do!! peeps on here seem up for a challenge!

Hope you are ok Boobz?

I can't wait to get started! It should arrive at some point tomorrow so Wednesday is the day! I'm a bit nervous but so looking forward to getting my fitness back!!

spookyskeleton · 27/04/2015 17:37

youcan you will love it Smile

yumyum please keep me motivated, I want to feel good on holiday instead of hating how I look so I really need to stick to both diet and exercise. But first, binge tonight on birthday cake and wine Grin

Jacksterbear · 27/04/2015 17:56

Nice to see you back jem.

poppy I've screen-shotted the workout the scheduler came up with. See, by coincidence you've already done Week 1's Monday workout! So we could start tmrw with week 1 Tues? I will not necessarily stick to the Mon-Fri schedule with weekends off but will try to stick to the 5x pw in the right order.

Only thing I'm confused about is "hardcore on the floor" - J's that an extra you have to order separately? It's not in my PiYo set I don't think! Confused

Hi everyone! Very busy on here, I can't keep up. Sorry off the lack of individual name checks.

I would be up for doing a hybrid with others. I don't have piyo but I could substitute a run or JM. Are you starting tomorrow? Having said that my friend has lent me gamma. OMG just did speed 3.0 tonight Shock! Can't make up my mind whether to keep going with that or stick to a hybrid of alpha and beta with a bit of gamma chucked in.

Size12 by summer is defo doable! Go for it! Smile

Does anyone use fat callipers? I went on this website and you get a free top tips thing which I found very useful actually including a tip about worrying less about weight and concentrating more on fat. I'll post a link if I can work out how to do it on my phone but the website is called builtdaily.com Anyway, he recommends getting a cheap pair of callipers. From£2.99 on Amazon but they look fiddly. Sorry if you hand already had this conversation!

Fullsteamahead · 27/04/2015 21:41

Just popping in to say Happy Birthday Spooky!!! Hope you've had a fab day!!!

Sarah, I've not tried body callipers but I've heard a lot of positive comments about them. I just used BFP calculators online, there are plenty out there, probably not quite as accurate but it's an alternative...

I'm sure Boobz have written something on here about the importance of BFP over weight measurement. She was going to buy this all singing all dancing new tool that measures amount of fat in all different parts of your body giving you an indication on the parts that need most work. But I think she's got plenty on her plate right now besides body fat measuring devices...

I have to agree that BFP is more important than what you see on the scales, particularly when you get down to losing those last few pounds/kgs.

I'd love to hear more if you get the callipers and will have a look at the website too.

Fullsteamahead · 27/04/2015 21:45

Forgot to say, I part regret not doing Gamma. Having done a few workouts from it throughout my hybrid I wish I did the whole thing now. It's brilliant, apart from usual fast paced workouts you get really good strength ones.

A friend on MFP really praised it too. So maybe worth giving it a go.

Sarahlouboo · 27/04/2015 22:26

Thanks Fullsteam, I might give Gamma a whirl for a week and see what's it's like x

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2015 22:28

Enjoy the wine and cake, happy birthday spooky!

Sarah interesting about calipers, apparently they are the most accurate of the cheaper fat measuring options (acc to timothy ferris in 4 hr body) ... do you have to be pretty slim for them to work?

Fullsteam that is really interesting about gamma - is that gamma on t25? If so that might be my next step after piyo t25 hybrids.

Ript circuit tomorrow it is Jackster Grin ... good idea to follow the workouts rather than the day of the week.

Very inerested to hear more about Gamma, Sarah and Fullsteam. Not sure whether that or HHA is going to be my next workout acquisition!

Poppy - we're on! May try to make up yesterday's strength intervals later in the week if I can! Otherwise will just accept that my 30mins tabata was just as good. But ideally want the satisfaction of feeling I've followed the schedule in full, if that makes sense!! ConfusedHmm

Jacksterbear · 28/04/2015 14:54

Rip't Circuit done poppy. Don't know what's up with me but am finding workouts I normally breeze through (like that one) really bloody hard at the moment!

Lots of encouragement needed if I'm going to get through this schedule!

How's everyone else doing?

Sarahlouboo · 28/04/2015 15:44

I have weeks like that Jackster. Are you eating any differently? Run down?

Re Gamma, I have decided to go for it so I will let you all know what it's like.

Re fat calipers, after reading up on it I have decided not to bother. Ultimately any measurement is a proxy so I am just going to use the scales in conjunctions with measurements and photos and how I feel. I know that my diet needs an overhaul in order for me to lose any more weight. Relatively stressful time of year at work and house move pending. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it Wink!

Sarahlouboo · 28/04/2015 15:45

P.s. Happy birthday for yesterday Spooky.

Evening :)

I'm pretty shattered tonight. Did a 30 min run this morning and an hour long Insanity Max Plyo Circuit this afternoon. Really need my bed now.

Sarah, glad you've decided to give Gamma a go, it's good fun and a perfect combination of cardio and strength.

For everyone else interested Gamma is the next step from T25 Beta. The format is very similar just taken up a notch ;) For example you will have Speed 3.0!!!

Sarah, have had a look at the link. Cheers, an interesting read.

Rule no 6 about the oxymoron of not losing weight when cutting the calorie intake is exactly what I experienced. Even worse my weight was climbing up when I was desperately trying to eat as little as I could possibly manage. Since learning about this ive increased my calorie intake and the weight has started to come off! What I'm trying to do now is concentrate on hitting my macros to the T and if my calories go over by a bit I don't worry about it. Just like he says in the article it's the amount of nutrients that's important not the quantity of calories.

All that said, please don't look at my diary entry on MFP today. My DS persuaded me to go to McDonalds for lunch! :(

Off to bed for some rest, have a great night guys

yumyumpoppycat · 28/04/2015 23:24

I looked at your diary Fullsteam and it was full of lovely healthy stuff and actually not that high in cals! I am bound to have macdonalds at some point in next month or so and will be brave and log it as macdonalds instead of generic burger and chips!

Going to have to leave alpha Cardio for after work.... children driving me bonkers....aaaaaagh

Jackster I think harcore on the floor must be in another pack, on our scheduler it is either that or Core so maybe we should do core?

OP posts:
spookyskeleton · 29/04/2015 07:49

Morning everyone.

Did core cardio yesterday and it was hard! Speed 2.0 tonight which is one of my faves. I really want to move onto gamma but need to get through beta first (this is my third attempt Blush)

Purpleraindeer · 29/04/2015 11:05

Ooh I'm jealous of doing gamma. Sounds good. I love the idea that there could be something even better than speed 2.0!

Hope you enjoy the first max30 if you're starting today youCan. I did my first 2 days of month 2. Max cardio was hard but manageable but this mornings tabata one (max power I think?) was soooo hard. Has the worse press ups circuit ever. I ended up flopped on my tummy like a beached whale! Room for improvement I think
And today's hard core award goes to fullsteam - a run and an hr of insanity - respect Smile

Sarahlouboo · 29/04/2015 12:44

Hi everyone!

Respect Fullsteam Star! I think that you have worked off that McDonalds so you are guilt free! And thank you for your advice on MFP about TDEE etc. I am going to have a closer look at that. I am inching my way back into healthier eating habits as I find that my brain rebels against a total absence of sweet treats when I have been indulging! I have sorted lunches I think, I need to review my breakfasts next, perhaps get some protein into the mix!

Purple and Spooky - don't be too jealous, Speed 3.0 mainly consists of burpees Shock! Was fun for a change though. I am hoping that Gamma is really going to tone my arms and increase upper body strength as I did Speed 3.0 burpee hell on Monday and then Gamma Ript Circuit last night which was a lot of upper body stuff. I modified on the push ups. I feel OK today though. Think I am finally addicted to the endorphins. It has only taken me 8 months!

How is everyone else getting along?

yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2015 17:38

Wow well done fullsteam on exercise ... your name is certainly well earned Grin

I have had a processed carb and coffee tastic day so far but faithfully logging it on mfp .... even been on costa's website to check because carbs were tooo high and actually incorrect on mfp omg I am becoming obsessed.

Back from work so going to see how hungry my bunch are and maybe crack on with alpha before making dinner.

Sarah thanks for that article from me too btw it was food for thought. I am bfmummy on mfp if you want to be friends.

Spooky well done on getting back to Beta!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 29/04/2015 17:40

Oh purple can you do proper push ups or do you modify? I think my technique is wrong. I can't even get boobs to the floor when I modify Blush
