I can round that up to 113miles.

It's fun this! Grin

Sirzy · 02/01/2015 15:31

Runkeeper has done that to me a few times Cardiff - although not that extreme!

It's lovely weather for running today and I can't go out until my new shoes arrive as the old ones were rubbing Sad

5madthings · 02/01/2015 15:37

I use mapmyrun and it's been fine, am going.for a.run this eve and.will be doing a route I know.is 5km so will let you know if it says something crazy!

I am tempted by a fancy.gas watch type thing but there is so much choice I don't know what would be best.

5madthings · 02/01/2015 15:38

Gps. Not gas...

Mitchy1nge · 02/01/2015 16:01

5 lovely miles, ran (pretty literally) into one of my own horses out for a hack with my sharer and so was nice to trot alongside one another - was really feeling it for first time in a week or two so was gutting to have to cut it short but is just unlucky that have busy weekend ahead of show jumping, house sitting, parental visit, date etc

almost got run over by John Gummer in a land rover (boo hisssss) Hmm but I was on his land so what do I expect?

118 I think

(have entered a May marathon so will be training very cautiously from now and maybe dropping to 4 days a week for extra recovery time)

Knackerelli · 02/01/2015 16:02

I can add 4.52 from this afternoon so 117.5? was beautiful and bright; perfect for running. (I'm ignoring how long it took though!)

Knackerelli · 02/01/2015 16:04

Oops, cross post, so 122.5

Knackerelli · 02/01/2015 16:06

Can't believe you nearly got run over mitchy Angry some people really don't look and think despite all of our hi vis stuff. Hope they said sorry. And congrats on the marathon entry!

Mitchy1nge · 02/01/2015 16:11

am loath to defend the evil bastard but I was on his land without permission, although I do it allllll the time, he said 'thank you very much' but we all hate him, he's such a bell end!

thanks, am very excited but also very aware that my calf might not be up to the training unless am extremely careful - have 18 weekends though to go from 13 to, I guess pyschologically would be good to do 22 but 18-20 would do in terms of the Long Run

my PT will despair though

cinnamongreyhound · 02/01/2015 16:57

I found it tough when I was very sick and tired from 6-14weels karatekimmi but loved it again after that and still am so in really glad I kept up doing some running. I was 12 weeks when I did my 9.25mile rnr leg which nearly killed me as I hadn't run that far for a while and I tried to do it at my predicted pace of 9m15 per mile. I dropped out of Norwich half at 20 weeks but did a 10k the following week. You will know how you feel, but I know what you mean, when I was feeling awful and getting slower I wanted to tell everyone 'I'm not crap I'm just pregnant!'

Ooooo a marathon Mitchy1inge!

WiseKneeHair you're name is so familiar, welcome :)

Happy birthday for tomorrow cardiffUniversityNetballTeam!

Well done everyone who's been for a run! Was a lovely day for it!!

Sirzy · 02/01/2015 17:04

What races has everyone entered for this year? Anyone doing the London Marathon this year?

I am doing to Manchester 10k again in may, wanted to do a local 10k in March but as it's 3 days after DS is due an op I am resistant to apply he should be fine but with DS who knows!

Suzannewithaplan · 02/01/2015 17:11

+10.62 from me

133.12

Suzannewithaplan · 02/01/2015 17:15

I don't have any urges to enter races Sirzy
perhaps I am missing or just not getting something about running
BlushConfused

MuseumOfHam · 02/01/2015 17:26

Suzanne no racy urges here either, been there, done that (slowly), now happy to plod for fun and fitness.

Whoever said it was a lovely day, well, it was . Started running in rain, turned briefly to snow (not nice fluffy picturesque snow either), then the sun was shining by the time I got back, all within less than half an hour. Did 2.7 miles, bringing total to 135.82

Sirzy · 02/01/2015 17:27

I need to have a race or something as a target to keep me motivated!

5madthings · 02/01/2015 17:29

Does anyone on here have any of those fitbit things or the Sony smartband swr10? Am.debating getting one, they fitbit and.Sony one are both which best.buys. Sony.is.on offer on amazon at moment.and.would work with my phone. I am tragically tempted but fear they are just gimmicky?

Sirzy · 02/01/2015 17:31

I want a fitbit. Hoping I get money for my birthday next week then I can look at getting one

Suzannewithaplan · 02/01/2015 17:37

is that the primary function of races for those who enter..to keep you motivated?

5mad, depends what you want it to do?
neither have gps or hear rate monitor functions so I'd not personally be interested

feetheart · 02/01/2015 17:59

Initially I entered a few races to keep me going and have something to aim for as I ran on my own.
Now I mainly run with a club and the social side of racing is fun - talking about it endlessly before, during and afterwards with like-minded souls unlike DH who is bored stupid by running chat :o
I also tend to run faster during a race so can boost my times/confidence and fulfil my competitive streak!

MuseumOfHam · 02/01/2015 18:01

Oh, this thread is going to be dangerous...have now started googling Fitbits and eyeing them up longingly. Am now strictly reminding myself that the gym is only closed for 4 days a year, and I will soon be back there with Mr Treadmill telling me how far I've run and how long it took, which is all I'm interested in really. No need for GPS on the tread, will know exactly where I am, in front of River City or whatever nonsense is on telly, no rain or snow, ah bliss.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/01/2015 18:01

I like to have something aim for but I do enjoy the challenge and I like shiny medals Grin. My first 10k race which is my favourite and Dh marshals is 2 weeks before I'm due so I won't enter. I'm tempted to marshal but wouldn't want to let them down if by any chance I go into early labour, however unitedly that seems!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/01/2015 18:08

Or unlikely!!

Suzannewithaplan · 02/01/2015 18:16

no rain or snow, ah bliss
I miss that aspect of the treadmill Museum but I find I run a bit faster and for longer distances outdoors.
if only there were indoor running places, some sort of bio dome where the climate was perfect for running, and the running surfaces had just the right amount of 'give' in them.

I've heard that in the US some people go 'mall running' when the weather is bad...is that really true??

5madthings · 02/01/2015 18:19

Not interested in heart rate, gps is on my phone. Though a wristband type thing with gps would be good. I like the Sony one as it's waterproof and I try and swim once/twice a week, 80 lengths. Plus it monitors your sleep etc. Basically it is a log type tracker app, a gadget I don't really need but looks cool... It's my bday in.Jan as well sirzy and I have some Xmas money to spend. I would go for the fitbit but its not waterproof. Buying the Sony means when I upgrade my phone I would have to make sure it's compatible, but I only got this phone last summer? And I love it so will likely upgrade to similar, it's a Sony Experia z something? I am just a suckered for a gadget.

5madthings · 02/01/2015 18:22

I don't like treadmills, love running outdoors, but hate running in the wind. Rain is fine, even pouring rain but hate a headwind! Just feeding madthings, then.going to get little three to bed and go out for a quick half hour. It's dark, when.do the evenings get lighter? I have high vis jacket and will nick ds3's wrist strap thingies which have flashing lights!
