Well...nearly!

Thread for all running chat, no matter how fast or how far you run Smile

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 13/01/2015 17:51

think 1200 calls is low with bf as well. My lowest when on mfp was 1350 but I ate my exercise calories too and that was at the end of my weight loss, maintaining I'm around 1700 and i was 63Kg, 165cm with quite a bit of walking, those cals don't include running.

Have no idea on how many calories are carbs but could probably live off carbs alone Wink

Yes 5madthings, EdithDickies add must have been to a previous number rather than the 1011.56 that you posted. Ah sorted now Smile

I was advised by my club mate to eat jelly babies in hm EdithDickie, I can't eat anything so I just tuck it in my cheek and let it dissolve, usually just before a water station so I can wash it away. But aim for 6, 8 and 11 miles Smile

No running yesterday as it was fil's funeral and non today as we have dss today instead of yesterday, no one to run with tomorrow at the moment Sad

5madthings · 13/01/2015 17:54

That's good to kbow anglaise and was pretty much what I was thinking. I just did 3.5 mile's, in the rain. My pace was better again today, perhaps the cold/wet weather makes me faster?!

Today all I have had to eat is a bagel with low fat cream cheese, about 300-350 calories and I felt fine running, could have carried on as well, but today was a short run day on the bupa plan I am following.

I don't want to lose loads of weight, 7-10lb and I find when I run consistently it comes off anyway.

It's quite.normal for me to just have lunch and dinner some days so I think having two fast days would be Ok, will give it a go, may force mysekf to eat sowmhring.whilst like porridge or scrambled eggs for bfast and then have a light dinner those days.

5madthings · 13/01/2015 17:57

1062.67 including my miles from today I think.

Sorry to hear about your mil cinnamon

5madthings · 13/01/2015 17:57

Fil. Sorry, misread there Blush

EdithDickie · 13/01/2015 18:04

So sorry about your fil cinnamon

Thanks for the info on eating. Seems there's no definitive answer. I am aiming for 2.5 hours to get round. I think I will experiment with jelly babies when on my longer training runs and see if they help or make me feel ill.

So next question - how do I carry my jelly babies? Some kind of bum bag? (oh lord! Grin)

5madthings · 13/01/2015 18:11

I will be happy to get round in two and a half hours as well Edith I can do 10km in about an hour, so if I kept the same pace all the way could do it in two hours ten mins, but am just aiming for under two and a half. It's always harder to gage pace etc when running in a race. It's another reason I may treat myself to the new garmin forerunner actually as I think it will be useful to keep an eye on my pace. I got some money for Xmas and it is a choice between a garmin or a fitbit, the garmin has gps so I think it will be better. Does anyone have one or the other and have any thoughts?

Re jelly babies when.dp did London marathon people were handing them out. I normally wear a running belt with my phone and inhaler in it and could fit some jelly babies in. They are quite cheap to buy.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/01/2015 18:14

I put mine in a small sandwich bag in the bum pocket of my leggings Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 13/01/2015 18:16

I have a garmin 110 and I love it, my friend got a garmin 15 for her birthday and it does most of the same things but for less money Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/01/2015 18:17

I am insanely happy (doesn't take much). I finished work a lot earlier than usual so have managed to get home, prep dinner, read the thread, have a snack and put my running gear on for a quick couple of miles. I can't run my normal routes in the dark so will find a new one Smile.

On a more serious note, I hope the funeral went as well as it could have cinnamon, and that DH is doing OK.

Re jelly babies (or in my case, tangfastics) - I slip them into a small ziplock bag and either carry it in my hand, in a pocket or in my waistband.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/01/2015 18:18

x-post with cinnamon Grin

I also have the garmin 110 and am very happy with it. DH had one of the smaller newer ones for Christmas, but as the giver has not yet handed it over because they didn't trust the post, I can't say what it's like.

Suzannewithaplan · 13/01/2015 18:32

garmin has recently announced out a whole load of fancy new things, Im tempted to get a new one

5madthings · 13/01/2015 18:42

Tis the garmin forerunner 15? I am thinking of getting, it's on offer at John Lewis at the moment, all the reviews seem pretty good and it comes in purple or aqua... Am in town tomorrow to sort stuff at registry office so will nip into john Lewis and have a look and also, ask at the little independent sports shop what they think.

I am liking the sound of tangfastics on a half marathon, much nicer than jelly babies.

EdithDickie · 13/01/2015 18:55

Ooh yeah Tangfastics! Plastic bag of Haribo in my arse pocket it is! Grin

And definitely the Garmin. I got the 610 for my birthday and I absolutely adore it.

Suzannewithaplan · 13/01/2015 19:48

I quite fancy this
buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/sports/health-fitness/vivoactive-/prod150767.html
but will probably stick with my old FR210 for now, although I use a vivosmart for gym based training because it's so much smaller/lighter

Anglaise1 · 13/01/2015 20:17

Not sure that anything with as much gelatin as Haribo would be easy to eat for a HM and I always find they are dehydrating. I made the mistake of taking dried apricots on my first HM and they were impossible to swallow, so won't do that again. A friend I run with eats jelly beans which are softer and so easier to eat than Haribo.
I have a Garmin 220 because my 110 died and the shop replaced it with a 220. It does exactly the same as far as I can make out. It died once (I revived it thanks to Google) and I still haven't managed to get it to sync with the computer, but apart from that it does everything perfectly.
12kms with the club outing and games afterwards.
1074.67 if I haven't missed a post!

Swallowedbyasnake · 13/01/2015 20:18

3.2 from me so 1065.87 (I think)

Swallowedbyasnake · 13/01/2015 20:20

I do 5:2. If I run in the morning I like to do it on a fasting day, but in the evening needs to be no. Fasting day or I have no energy. I have no
Problem eating when I run. I ate a bar of chocolate during the last half marathon I ran!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/01/2015 20:42

3.17 so 1069.04. Great to get out on a midweek evening.

Sazorchard31 · 13/01/2015 21:05

No running from me today but i did do an abs blast class at the gym. First abs class so I expect to be in agony by Thursday!!

beanandspud · 13/01/2015 21:30

2.5 miles from me on the treadmill. I wish the weather would improve, it's lousy here.

1071.54

cinnamongreyhound · 13/01/2015 22:05

That's what my friend has 5madthingd, the purple one Grin

clary · 13/01/2015 23:51

1074.54 after my rather muddy 3 miles round the top of the track and the football pitch (x3) at my DC's athletics training tonight. Wore my old trainers!

postmanpatscat · 14/01/2015 00:07

Sorry to hear about fil cinnamon

I had an energy gel at about ten miles in my HM but I don't think it made much difference. I didn't really feel like I was flagging until then but maybe I should have had it sooner.

Five miles to add from me to make 1079.54.

AggressiveBunting · 14/01/2015 03:57

Adding 4 miles from my Crossfit commute to make 1083.54.

JapaneseMargaret · 14/01/2015 05:46

Adding my 3.3 from this morning to make 1086.84.
