Now the maths bit (sounds of straining and whirring)

3 .1 from me tonight. 773 + flutie 4 + Tess 4.3 + Jingle Bells 6 + me 3.1 = 790.4

Mebbe. Someone sensible check it.

5madthings · 09/01/2015 22:50

Wow nearly 800 miles already!

I have my alarm set to get up and run tomorrow am at 7:30, not looking forward to the early weekend start but am going with friends and know I will feel good for it afterwards.

AggressiveBunting · 10/01/2015 03:15

Adding a Saturday morning 15 miles on the trails from me to make 805.4. Gorgeous day in Hk today- blue skies and 18 degrees. Just having a coffee in the sun before my last mile and a half Grin.

holmessweetholmes · 10/01/2015 06:15

Very Envy of your weather, AggressiveBunting! We have violent winds and torrential rain here.

Sazorchard31 · 10/01/2015 09:27

Anyone got any advice for a tight hamstring? I stopped running for 6 maths due to a disease in my knee and had a lot of muscle wastage in my leg as couldn't put weight on it. Following an operation I've restarted running but hamstring is tight (it wasn't tight 12 mths ago). Seeing physio this week but any advice appreciated!

No running for me the last few days, too windy! I wouldn't be able to move out there this morning, but did join the gym yesterday at work so I can do some weights work and abs classes...feelingquite excited a out them!

IKYTWTLYA · 10/01/2015 09:51

Morning all.

Can you advise a newbie on cheap running shoes please? What should I look for? What should I avoid?

I don't want to spend a fortune - I'm only on week 2 of this lark and while I like to think I'm converted for life, if I spend a ton of money they're garunteed to spend the rest of eternity gathering dust.

Sazorchard31 · 10/01/2015 10:00

Sportsdirect has loads of cheap stuff. I buy karrimoor (spelling?+) from there and it seems alright. Or I go to the outlet Adidas, Nike and asics stores that I'm fortunate to live by. Never full price!

IKYTWTLYA · 10/01/2015 10:04

Thanks

beanandspud · 10/01/2015 11:11

Another 2.26 plodded on the treadmill this morning - I took one look at the rain and wind and decided that I wasn't quite enough of a runner just yet to go out in it.

807.66

Well done all those getting out and running this morning. Weather here is awful and I woke up with horrible sore throat, all my glands are up in my neck and I have a bit of a temp so no running for me :( hope I don't end up really poorly like I was before Xmas, that bug started the exact same way! I figure if I rest today and tomorrow I can run Monday. I ran five times in seven days so one weekend off is fine.

What are people's thoughts on running with colds/sore throats. Google said fine unless you have a temp or swollen glands and then you should rest so resting it is.

5madthings · 10/01/2015 11:24

Another fan of karrimor running gear here, though I wear saucony running shoes.

Sports direct is cheap and various online places.

Checking in with a rather wild and windswept but mercilessly debris free parkrun 3.1

No running today, there's a blizzard outside! Hopefully will have settled for long run tomorrow.

standingonlego · 10/01/2015 12:53

A wild, wet and windy start to my run this morning but calmed down so i managed 5.2 miles taking us to an awesome 816.2 - we are smashing this mileage :)

GertyD · 10/01/2015 13:06

816.2 + my 2 = 818.2 Smile Smile

Apophenia · 10/01/2015 14:03

Five wet and windy miles from me. a great run though. 823.2

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2015 14:08

When I did the c25k I got a pair from sports direct for £9.99, I don't think it matters as much when your miles are low. Once I realised I would be running I got my gait analysed and got a pair in the sale for £65 IKYTWTLYA.

Get well soon 5madthings!

Got blown about and soaked at parkrun today so 3.1 to add 821.3

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2015 14:09

X-posts! 826.3

HalleLouja · 10/01/2015 14:20

Parkrun here makes 829.4.

Watching cross country on TV. Feeling cold just watching them.

Sirzy · 10/01/2015 15:02

Short 1.8 miles here so 831.2

clary · 10/01/2015 15:04

A very windy 4.23 miles from me yesterday late afternoon 833.63

clary · 10/01/2015 15:05

Sorry x post 835.63

clary · 10/01/2015 15:08

gaaah 835.43

IKYTWTLYA · 10/01/2015 15:40

Thanks Saz & Cinnamon - I've picked up some cheap Karrimors from SD. If I'm still doing this in 6 months time I'll look at 'proper' shoes!

MelanieCheeks · 10/01/2015 17:26

A double parkrun from me, so that's 6.2 miles, bringing us to 841.63
