9.6 from me
=466.2

Suzannewithaplan · 06/01/2015 14:56

I went out fully expecting to make it as far as the end of my road and turn back, I seem to have done something to my hip/glute/upper thigh, possibly when training legs in the gym.
Once I got going it was fine, and yet I've been sort of limping with it for a couple of days, running appears to have cured itConfused
(hope I've not spoken too soon)

Emummy, I remember some very painful sports massages in the IT band vacinity!
I hope yours do the trick for you:)

beanandspud · 06/01/2015 15:23

Can I join you?

I made a New Year resolution to learn to run outdoors again. I used to love running and then had DS, made a few half-hearted attempts to get back into it on the treadmill, blamed a lack of time and then gave up completely. For years. Blush

I've bought new trainers and forced DS out this afternoon for a walk/run with the goal of doing a Parkrun once I/we can go the three miles without stopping.

We 'plodded' 2.1 miles today, not sure whether I can add it to your ongoing total but it felt good to have made the first step.

Oh, and despite what I was worried about, no one made rude comments, the neighbours didn't come out to have a laugh, no one beeped their horn and I didn't feel as stupid as I thought I would!

HalleLouja · 06/01/2015 15:49

Well done bean of course you can add your miles Grin

holmessweetholmes · 06/01/2015 16:07

Adding my 3.1 from Parkrun and 3 from today. I think that makes it 472.3.

emummy · 06/01/2015 16:16

Suzanne next week she is doing something called kinetic chain release, I think, which is apparently agony at the time but great the next day. Would it be acceptable to drink whisky throughout do you think?!

Suzannewithaplan · 06/01/2015 18:45

that sounds interesting Emummy, I think you may need a lolly stick to bite on (in addition to the whiskey)
please be a guinea pig for the rest of us let us know how it goes :o

EdithDickie · 06/01/2015 19:04

That sounds great bean! How old is your ds? My dd is 4 and would like to do a park run "one day".

3.81 miles for me today. Painful! Just not feeling it at all. Plus a dodgy tummy meant an undignified pit stop in a ditch.... Fun! Sad

But, on the bright side, I did feel much better for running and a bit of indignity never killed me yet!

EdithDickie · 06/01/2015 19:04

476.11

Anglaise1 · 06/01/2015 19:40

5.6 miles from my running club training session tonight.
481.76

WiseKneeHair · 06/01/2015 19:41

Another 3.2 from me 479.31
Having now done three 5ks in less than a week, after not doing any last year, im really starting to get back into it. I really enjoyed tonight's run, although carrying a stroppy 6 year old to bed just now was difficult Grin

WiseKneeHair · 06/01/2015 19:42

X post again!
484.96

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2015 19:47

I'm going to rest today, my back and abs ache and I haven't slept well the last two nights. Luckily my running buddy can do tomorrow instead Grin

beanandspud · 06/01/2015 19:58

Adding my modest 2.1 gives 487.06.

Edith He's 6 and actually did very well. I have promised to take him for decent running shoes at the weekend if he's serious about it.

IKYTWTLYA · 06/01/2015 20:00

484.96 + my 2.6 tonight makes 487.56 (I think)

Ran with friends again, much more enjoyable. Up to week 2 on the C25K now so running for 1:30 at a time. Grin

IKYTWTLYA · 06/01/2015 20:00

X-post every time! 489.66 then!

WiseKneeHair · 06/01/2015 20:01

bean maybe I should get my 6 year old running shoes, rather than carrying him to bed! Would certainly help my aching quads.

5madthings · 06/01/2015 20:14

492.86 with my 3.2 this eve, another good run despite the fact it seemed every traffic light went against me! Tomorrow is a rest day for me but I may go for a swim whilst madthing5 is at pre school.

Well done to all our newbies and those doing couch25km :)

And eww to dodgy pit stops due to upset tummies, I am always really paranoid about that as I don't run anywhere secluded enough to stop! I do go past a few friends houses so would have to be an impromptu guest!

EdithDickie · 06/01/2015 20:20

That's fab bean, good on him.

Yeah the pitstop was not in any way good - thankfully out in the sticks!

Tiredemma · 06/01/2015 20:22

Anyone doing the 1000 mile challenge? I started tonight and have done a massive 3.43 miles

Sazorchard31 · 06/01/2015 20:30

2.65 from me tonight. Didn't enjoy the run and was hoping to get to 3.1 but just wasn't in the spirit and felt like it was getting pains in my knee - prob imaginary but decided I best stop (and go home to the warm and eat!).

Sazorchard31 · 06/01/2015 20:31

What's the 1,000 mile challenge Tiredemma?

JapaneseMargaret · 06/01/2015 20:38

3.3 miles from me this morning. Drizzly, but warm. I haven't r hours my last couple of runs, but was feeling it again today, so that's good. :)

Counting the last few mileages, I get 502.24.

Knackerelli · 06/01/2015 20:51

bean my DD who is 6 sometimes does parkrun with me. I think though it's less to do with running and more to do with the cake at the end!

degustibus ( I think that's the start of your name, I'm on my phone and it was pages ago!) good luck in your race and well done on fighting those depression demons. It's a bugger. Fingers crossed your training will help to keep it at bay.

I'm very excited to add 4.23 from the running club I joined tonight!! It was a lovely run that I really enjoyed.
