Wow according to that McMillan predictor, I will be running a HM in 2.10 which is hilarious as I don't think there is any way I could sustain a slightly slower than 10k pace for double to distance..!

However useful training plan resources so thanks for posting the link.Smile

actiongirl1978 · 05/01/2015 13:35

I take that back - expensive training plans! Will go back to the free bupa one!

Mayvis · 05/01/2015 13:39

3.1 miles from me today.

I'm a recent c25k graduate. Found today tough going, did it in just under 32 mins.

When does it feel easier? Today was a real mental struggle for me.

Mayvis · 05/01/2015 13:39

388.7

Sirzy · 05/01/2015 13:47

2.5miles from me so 391.3

Ran to asda then walked back, of course I bumped into 2 children I work with in asda in my horrible post run sweaty mess! Wont be doing that again

I too hate pink, and try to wear purple or fluorescent green/yellow. DH bought me running/cycling gloves for Christmas which are black and bloody pink. Having said that, one of my favorite running tops (because it's comfy and was a gift from one of my best friends) is pink. When I turned up to parkrun in a different top one week someone commented that they always thought of me in bloody pink.

I am in running gear, just waiting for my lunch to settle before going out. I will not go far, as my IT Band has flared up after so much running (by my recent standards) in the last week or two. So frustrating, just when I thought I was getting back in the game Sad

Mayvis - to answer your question, some runs feel easier than others. I can go out and struggle to do 3 miles one day, and bounce around 5 the next. And as you say, the mental bit is (for me) more than half the battle.

spookyskeleton · 05/01/2015 14:31

I am also training for a half marathon at the end of April - my stomach turns every time I think about it tbh so not sure why I am doing it. According to that calculator it will take me 2h45 to complete which sounds about right. My longest run to date was a 10 mile run which took just over 2 hours.

I am fairly certain that I will only be doing 1 half marathon - think I will stick to 10k after that.

Have to say my trainers are always pink but then I am a very pink kind of girl Blush

Sirzy · 05/01/2015 14:34

My new running shoes are bright pink. I love them

Has anyone done one of the Womens Running 10k's? There is one in Liverpool in July I am thinking about signing up

TheSkinnyProject · 05/01/2015 14:37

3.1 miles this morning in the dark.

Missing my long run this weekend as I was cross training. Felt great to be back out even if it was pitch black at 6am!

Apophenia · 05/01/2015 14:39

Sirzy Me and my running partner are doing that one, hopefully. Be my first after the Manchester 10k.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 05/01/2015 14:57

Right, I need to start again. I had a rather nasty bout of depression just after summer and all my training went to pot, & I have stacked on the weight Blush My lovely parents have bought DH & I entry into the Dirty Rat Race at Burghley, so I have no choice, train I must! Smile so, I can add 1.6 miles on treadmill on Saturday to the total, so 396 total?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/01/2015 15:40

3.3 slow and steady and not too painful miles making 399.3. Wish I'd made it up to 4 miles now Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 05/01/2015 16:05

Mmmmm lovely Mitchy1inge!!

Took me about 4 months after finishing the c25k to enjoy my runs Mayvis, sorry!

EElisavetaofJingleBellsornia · 05/01/2015 16:08

Well I did 2 miles for three days, then up to 2 and a half today so 407.8.

I have found this thread very inspiring, and the link about how to build up fitness useful. Thank you!

ThursdayLast · 05/01/2015 16:22

Haha mitchy beautiful Smile

3.5 miles from the ThursdayDog and I.

411.3

Mayvis in my experience it took it becoming a habit to become easier, once it was a habit I found a groove, began to consider myself as a runner and started to gain confidence.

Having said that last week every run I did was bloody agony and it was body winning over mind every time!

Mitchy my beautiful on clouds look like that after my 10k yesterday running in a quagmire around cattle grids Grin

HalleLouja · 05/01/2015 16:30

Oh yesterday when I was running I got to 7.95 miles where I was going to stop so ran until I got to 8 miles exactly.

I quite like a bit of pink but have lots of different colours in my running wardrobe. Including some nice bright orange leggings they were only a quid I couldn't resist........

Anglaise1 · 05/01/2015 16:30

Actiongirl you'd be amazed at what you can do in a race even if it is over twice as long. My 10k speed is 12.92kph and HM 12.30kph so not hugely different. The mental strength is very important, as well as the physical strength.
The runnersworld site has loads of free training plans, as does the runningbug.

5madthings · 05/01/2015 17:16

I spoke to a guy in independent sports shop who looked at specifications and agreed the junior are the same as the ladies. He said save your money and buy the kids ones, so that is what I shall do!

I am going for a quick 5km once kids in bed, it's cold though! I treated myself to two new pairs of karrimor3/4 length running trousers,a vest and a water resistant jacket in the sale. I love the sake, does anyone pay full price for running gear? Some stuff is meant to be crazy prices!

I agree re pink Btw, there were racks and Racks of pink stuff in.the sale. I got a bright turquoise/blue jacket and trousers are black and purple.

Suzannewithaplan · 05/01/2015 17:24

hmm, kids running shoes it is then!
Although I'm thinking the range is not so good?

actiongirl1978 · 05/01/2015 17:27

Anglaise, thanks for the words of support, I'll keep you posted!

Nells77 · 05/01/2015 18:03

I've just done 3.2 in my fastest time yet of 26.37 I'm so pleased with myselfSmile thought i'd do rubbish after Christmas and being back at work today.
So I get the total at 414.5 if I've added it right Grin

5madthings · 05/01/2015 18:19

The saucony kids range seems just as good, asics. Etc do a kid range but he said they weren't as cushioned. I guess it will vary by make?

Mitchy1nge · 05/01/2015 18:24

416.5 with 2 of my 3 dog jog miles - shoes came off in the mud 3 times despite being painfully tightened so I gave up and walked the last mile

they are actually really clean now after splashing through a couple of puddles and walking through long wet grass :)

Mayvis · 05/01/2015 18:25

Thanks for the words of wisdom and support. I'll keep plodding along. I've entered into a 10k for mid April so have a new target in place. Just felt a bit deflated today.
