GertyD - yes. Just add the miles as you do them and we see how many we get at the end of the month. I think this month might be a whopper :o

3.1 miles of parkrun tourism from me (hadn't thought about including DS's miles Hmm).
Muddy, slippy, slidey course but good fun and lovely to meet up with other tourists (some of whom might just be Mnetters :)) Excellent cake and bacon rolls too which is always important. We want to go back for a sunny run at some point so we can see the views properly although that will mean that the hill will be in full view and not looming out of the mist/spray/murk as it was this morning.

So 2.1 from Gerty and 3.1 from me
167.2

feetheart · 03/01/2015 13:37

Beaten to it :)

Just my 3.1 so 170.3

clary · 03/01/2015 13:39

Going to go out in a bit but waiting for the rain to stop!

Also neeeed to kill off my last bit of holiday planning first.

Really can't wait for my new runners to arrive (old ones actually have holes in them!)

Cataline · 03/01/2015 14:17

I did my first parkrun this morning! Thought I might die around 4km but pushed through it so I'm happy! So that's 3.1 from me.
Currently reading "Run Fat Bitch Run" and really enjoying it- thank you to whoever recommended it!

holmessweetholmes · 03/01/2015 15:04

Hello all - happy running in the new year! I have lurked a bit on these threads in the past and occasionally posted, but am hoping to stick around this time in an effort to motivate myself.

I've been running for quite a few years now, but never get any faster and need to find a focus. Atm I am just doing t5k plods, and not enough of them.So I've got two NY resolutions - do my first Half marathon (in June) and get a Parkrun PB.

holmessweetholmes · 03/01/2015 15:05

Cataline - well done on your first Parkrun! It's a fab thing to do.

WiseKneeHair · 03/01/2015 15:45

Well done all you Parkrunners. I must confess, ive only ever done one, because I don't like getting up running in the morning.Blush
DS1 got home, so I've been out running, so 3.2 to add to the total making it 173.5
I managed to run the 5k in 1:49 minutes less than on the 1st, so really pleased with that. I'm still about 5 minutes slower than I used to be, but going in the right direction.

Sirzy · 03/01/2015 16:38

I managed to squeeze in two miles taking us to 175.5

5madthings · 03/01/2015 17:45

I am just about to get ready for a short run with a friend, feel a bit achey so need to have a good stretch.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/01/2015 19:10

Ah yes, I remember now WiseKneeHair. I stopped using mfp about 6months after I got to my target.

I got some Adidas trail shoes for Christmas and my feet are soooooooo warm on them, they're lovely but I had to get them in a 7 (I'm a 6 and usually have 6.5 in running shoes).

No parkrun for me Sad but I will be running with the canicross club tomorrow morning.

Well done for everyone's miles :)

5madthings · 03/01/2015 19:31

A short 2.5 from me, more to get out and stretch than anything, feel good for it now though :) so 178 now?

clary · 03/01/2015 19:32

Sorry meant to post earlier, did a lovely dusk-lit 4.5 miles today.

Total a nice round 180

clary · 03/01/2015 19:32

gah x posted 5madthings that's 182.5 then!

newdaytomorrow · 04/01/2015 00:11

3.15 parkrun miles from me so that's 185.65

chancer2014 · 04/01/2015 09:12

Can I ask...

  1. Do you all run every day? I did one run yesterday after 3 months off and feel a bit achey. It's been so long since I've ran, I've forgotten if it's important to have a day's rest to repair or better to just get back into the swing of things quickly by doing short daily runs.
  1. Do you run when you're slightly ill? Or am I being too wussy? I've got a bit of a sore throat and swollen glands which came on overnight. Does running aid recovery of being slightly under the weather or make things worse?
MelanieCheeks · 04/01/2015 09:43

I wouldn't run every day, but I know some people do.

Depends on the illness - a good brisk walk is great for blowing away visu

Mitchy1nge · 04/01/2015 10:25

I think most people will have a day off once or twice a week, some work on 8 day weeks but I know others who train only 3 times a week and still complete ultra length distance events - it's really individual, everyone needs recovery time but how much and how often is trial and error I think

You can recover actively - lower impact things, swimming walking rowing machine etc - on non running days

Apophenia · 04/01/2015 11:15

188.65Smile

Three miles before my treadmill started smoking. It's motor has burnt out. Hmm

emummy · 04/01/2015 11:24

Wow, Apophenia you wore out your treadmill! Good going!
Unable to run today, sniff. Finished Friday's run with an achy left adductor and it still hurts. Am stretching it and foam rolling it(painful!) and can only hope it will have recovered by next run on Tuesday. Is a beautiful day here too and I had a new route planned.

Apophenia · 04/01/2015 11:35

It's a beautiful day here too emummy - but too icy, that's why I was on the treadmill in the first place. sob

Neeko · 04/01/2015 11:40

A beautiful day here too and 3.25 from me making it 191.9.

I'm waiting on my foam roller arriving. When is the best time to use it: before running, after running or on non-running days?

cinnamongreyhound · 04/01/2015 11:56

Very hard frost here after raining all day yesterday, so a lovely frosty run with the doggies. 4 miles from me 195.9.

I don't run every day, 3-4 times a week and yes unless I'm struggling to breathe I run Smile

WiseKneeHair · 04/01/2015 11:59

Just 2.3 miles today, very icy here and I was just glad to not go arse over tit.
194.2 total

I run 4 times a week and do body weight training 3-4 times with the odd bit of yoga thrown in. I tend to have at least one rest day per week and find I work out better the next day, so it is important for me and my recovery.

WiseKneeHair · 04/01/2015 12:00

Crossed with cinnamon! 198.8

WiseKneeHair · 04/01/2015 12:01

Er no, 198.2 [ blush]
