Would you all like to join me here?

OP posts:

I never realised there were different C25k apps. I've got the NHS change 4 life one which has Laura plus the option to put your own music in when she's not chattering. I'm gonna miss her if & when I finish it HmmSmile

Starting wk6 tomorrow. And positive feedback from DH, he says I have less wobbly bits. What a flatterer Grin

AppleSnapple · 14/05/2015 22:44

Bramshott yes to using both c25k app and mapmyrun. I use both (albeit not the Laura/NHS one, just the generic c25k one), and my Fitbit as well Grin I love a bit of gadgetry!! Find it really good as the mapmyrun app tells you split times for each km and avg pace etc also quite interesting and helpful to know exactly how far you've gone, and how that is (slowly!) increasing over time.

AppleSnapple · 14/05/2015 22:45

Stunts I will give your bff a go on my Saturday run and see whether she motivates me further!! Thanks

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2015 07:38

applesnapple I am obbsesseed with my fitbit, not getting mapmyrun till I am up to 5k, I used to use it when I ran before, I love a good graph. I am supposed to be running today but I might have to leave it until later, I went to go ape yesterday and most of my muscles hurt a lot.

MillyMollyMandy78 · 15/05/2015 11:07

Hi everyone, i forgot i was on this thread, as I've been posting on the other 5k thread as well. Finished week 1 of 5k today. I have been enjoying it but find it really tough. Due to start week 2 on monday and i am a bit nervous about the increased jogging times!

Probably a weird question, but when i run i have been getting a bit sweaty inbetween my cleavage (sorry if tmi). Then from the sweat i have had a few spots come up inbetween my boobs. Spotty cleavage isnt exactly a good look - anyone else get this? How do i avoid? I am wearing a good quality sports bra

DontDoItDi · 15/05/2015 11:27

W5R2 in the sunshine today. Did the first 8 minutes and thought “well this ain’t so bad at all”. Got my come-uppance on the second 8 minutes Blush Shock The last 60 seconds went on for-e-ver and I have never been so glad to hear the words “slow down to a walk now”!

(But five weeks ago I would never have believed I could do 8 minutes without stopping. So I'm happy.)

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 15/05/2015 12:38

DontDoIt- you are exactly a week behind me. It'll motivate me knowing you are clipping at my heels!

Also, does anyone think they've changed shape due to this C25k. I'm sure my legs are shaping up, particularly my thighs are looking better. Not sure it's my imagination though. Should've took some measurements before I started Grin

locketpocket · 15/05/2015 16:10

Ido - yes, my thighs are definitely more toned (shame I can't say the same about the muffin topHmm)

Bramshott - were you on April 2007 antenatal?

malefridgeblindness · 15/05/2015 19:18

Ooh can I join? I've been posting on the other thread. Did w5d3 yesterday and was surprised I managed it. Laura is my favourite person atm. I'm kind of looking forward to w6 as the first two runs look easier than the 20m run in w5.

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2015 19:30

just done w6r2, was lovely really is getting easier. I did the loop that the park run uses and they go round 3 times which is 5k, I did 2 loops in the 20mins running plus 3 min walking so I guess that means my 5k time wouldnt be too bad if I could just run for that long. :)

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 15/05/2015 19:43

Excellent Dita, that's a really cracking pace you must be going. I am one run behind you, just done wk6r1. I am v slow though.

And welcome malefridge - yes I almost found myself enjoying tonights wk6r1 after the 20 min killer. I even had a little extra energy to really push myself for the last 2 mins of running. Well I went from a shuffle to a jog Grin

That being said think I need to enjoy my moment of glory whilst it lasts. Only one more run left with a rest, the remainder of the app is solid running ShockShockShock

DontDoItDi · 15/05/2015 20:03

My thighs have definitely become more solid, which is good because I had skinny flabby thighs (lovely!) My figure’s not changed in any other way, if anything I feel more hungry than before but I checked today and I haven’t put on weight.

I am not looking forward to the next one 20 minutes solid but I want to get it over with. But usually the worst bit of the run is the warm-up walk, I feel chilly and uncomfortable and I want to start running just to feel warm, I don’t mind the tired puffing panting bits so much.

ditavonteesed · 15/05/2015 20:32

thing is I feel like I am going really really slow. I know whtta you mean about the solid runs from now on eekk.don't do it, you'll be fine I promise.

malefridgeblindness · 15/05/2015 22:11

IDo I'm tempted to listen to podcasts when it's solid running as I find I get bored with the music, or go too fast / too slow to keep in time with it. But I'm not sure I can do it without Laura. I'm not really looking forward to the solid running, but the 20min was oddly okay, even though I'd been dreading it.

Going out for w5r1 this eve after I make DC their tea. Bought new trainers today... Figured my 10 year old ones may have lost their bounce somewhat (not through overuse, let me assure you!) also bought a super light running gilet thing as find I'm a bit chilly esp to start with on my morning runs at 5.30! Am worried now that with all my shiny kit I probably look like a runner and will face derision when I fail to overtake grannies out for an evening walk with their zimmers Grin but do you know what, sod it, we ARE runners, snails pace and all, we're out there and doing it and that is a lot better than not at all. When I was contemplating starting my 1st run I read something about the feeling of finishing run number one... You're one step further ahead of the people still sitting on the couch!!

Week 5 here I come....!!

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 16/05/2015 18:59

Great Buffy, and welcome! Apple your post made me chuckle, you sound so motivated, but you are right, at least we are having a go, getting up off our arses and out there. I am determined I will keep this up and not leave a bum shaped dent in the sofa over winter like I did last year.

Perhaps you can be the new Laura when she packs it in Grin.

AtSea1979 · 16/05/2015 19:21

W3R1 today, I ran for 3 mins Shock never thought I would and the last one was up hill. It felt really short today we just did 4 runs - 90 sec/3 min - twice. Is this right?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 16/05/2015 19:25

You must be getting fitter Atsea, you've done the correct runs anyway!

Yes Buffy, you got it! Week 1 Run 2 etc. There are only 3 runs a week as that's what you're supposed to aim for.
