atSea if it helps- the only toe doctors would worry about is if it's your big toe- they would X-ray that in a&e (only one required for balance!) but wouldn't bother X-raying any of the others, as someone up thread said, just buddy strap it, keep an eye out for redness etc that is extending up your foot and all of that.

buffy I use the official c25k one- it just tells you when to start running, or waking etc and you can play your own music which I love.

So I did w3r3 tonight... Felt so good that I ran the last 11 minutes home!! Now... I know I'm meant to stick to the program, and I know it was only 11 mins but my god I feel like I've climbed Everest, I am so proud of myself!! Ridiculous I know but I never could've done that last week, and now I'm running 3 times a week and doing one exercise class a week... I am just so pleased at how well it's going! Now if only some of this bloody weight would ever start to come off??!!!!

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 09/05/2015 22:11

Buffy- the NHS app has an option to add your own music. The music goes quieter when Laura is talking then gets louder when you run. Like magic!

Brilliant, downloading the app, getting decent music sorted is the first step. Make sure your headphones will stay in place too though.

Good luck with your first run, I'm finding the whole thing addictive. I'm seriously considering buying a treadmill, and I've only been running 5 weeks ShockGrinShock

locketpocket · 09/05/2015 22:56

Another vote for the NHS app - it's quite uncanny that Laura knows exactly how you're feeling during the run.
Didn't manage to get out for my run tonight, going to try and fit it in tomorrow (although it's ds1 day for running as he's at an athletics competition all day)

Noisyoyster- I cannot describe the high I felt after that runGrinGrin and I can honestly say that after all these weeks, I genuinely enjoy runningSmile

locketpocket · 09/05/2015 23:04

Ido- I'm thinking the same, if only for the bad weather. I'm finding that I get quite fidgety(?) if i haven't run for a few days. Really helps with my mindset too.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 09/05/2015 23:08

I've found one for £189.99 on eBay. X-lite II treadmill, looks really good, gets good reviews on amazon, you can incline it to make it more like outdoor running. The weathers been crap here and I haven't ran the last couple of days and like you say am getting the twitch. Am so tempted!!

locketpocket · 10/05/2015 08:08

Go on, buy it!
Mind you, last weekend I ran in the rain and quite enjoyed itShock cooled me right downGrin

AtSea1979 · 10/05/2015 08:20

I go to the gym on a tues. I don't use the treadmill though, I don't like it, always feel dizzy getting off. I use a new cross trainer they have that I suppose to be less robot than the older cross trainers and more like the movement of running. Not sure it is but I do 10-15 mins on that, then I'm done.
Done the shred (only every made it to about day 10!) but on that they do quite a bit of jogging on the spot, so I tend to do that at home and wonder what the difference would be having a treadmill anyway since I run so slow I'm practically jogging on the spot anyway

WestEast · 10/05/2015 15:20

Did W1r3 today. Completely proud of myself! Feel shattered but didn't feel like I wanted to puke like I did after r1!

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2015 16:43

I did it, after a week off I did the dreaded 20 min run, wasnt too bad I did have to stop and walk twice for about 30 secs but I think that was because I didnt have a drink and my throat was sticking together, must buy a running bottle.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 10/05/2015 18:00

Dita, amazing stuff well done - I've just done the 2 lots of 8 mins, so the 20 min horror is my next one. God my legs are like jelly and I'm soaking my poor aching thighs in the bath as I speak. God knows if I will manage 20 GrinShockGrin.

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2015 18:18

it really was fine apart from my throat sticking which hindered my breathing somewhat, in actual fact I think it was easier than the 2 lots of 8, and I hadn't run for a week becasue my foot was playing up. I was thinking I should go back to the run before but I would not admit defeat. Looking at the next week it goes back to 5 mins which seems a bit odd, I wonder if that helps increase your speed.

You really will be fine, I am considering going again tommorow just to make up a bit for missing a week but I will see how I feel in the morning.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 10/05/2015 18:58

I'll give it a go on Tuesday. It's pure stubbornness that is getting me through this. And Laura's sympathetic voice. Smile

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2015 19:11

I really like her voice, when I was struggling a bit today I did think pleaase say something Laura.

doublechocchip · 10/05/2015 20:45

Hoping I can join in? Just been reading this last page it's so motivational (and a little scary) reading how many people are flying through weeks 8/9 and running for 30 minutes I really hope I get there.

Today was w3r1 for me and I ran the two lots of 3 minutes, I was terrified but I did it and feel so good about it now. It's incredible!

Can I ask people who are on the later weeks/ have finished are you enjoying it? I'm still not although I'm loving how I feel afterwards, please tell me I'll develop a passion for running I need it to counteract my passion for eating!

ditavonteesed · 10/05/2015 22:34

I loved it today, it was the first time though and dh has been away all weekend, I asked the nieghbour to watch the kids for half an hour becasue they were driving me up the wall so that might be why. Today was w5r3

NoisyOyster · 11/05/2015 07:21

I'm gutted, had to go away for work and not been able to stick to my every other day running routine. Hopefully going to try and get out tomorrow, but think will redo w2r3 again just to test the waters

not trying to avoid w3 at all

locketpocket · 11/05/2015 08:24

Doublechocchip- yes, I do enjoy it. I never thought I would, and the 20mins run were hard (w5?) but I'm now looking at 10k apps to keep going.

You can do it!

DontDoItDi · 11/05/2015 20:06

Ran w4r3 this afternoon. Got soaked by a rain shower halfway through, very pleased I made it. I’m looking forward to w5 but in a very nervous kind of way. I found w4 a lot harder than the others and w5 looks like an even bigger step - it ends with a whole 20 minutes! (Is there a scared-face icon?)

locketpocket · 11/05/2015 20:32

W9R3 - DONE!

Nearly killed me though - took a different route and was just under 5k and mainly uphill. My thighs are now very a little sore.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to stay on this thread for a bit. Love the positivity here x

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 11/05/2015 21:25

FANTASTIC locketpocket!!! Fanfare alert!!! Well done. How do you feel now the app is over? A bit sad and emotional ( or is that just me anticipating how i will feel) I think I will miss it and Laura's motivation taking me through it run by run HmmGrin

And please hang around and motivate us lot, I for one need as much encouragement as I can off you graduates Grin

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 11/05/2015 21:28

DontDoIt- I am tackling the 20 min horror of week 5 tomorrow night. This is how I look when I think about it ShockShockShock. If I return in one piece I will report back. That's if I'm not too weak to lift my phone. ShockGrinShock
