4.2 slow frosty but sunny miles.

Mitchy I don't blame you for wanting to stay indoors when so much of your time is spent outside anyway. Do horses like being ridden when it is cold? Or are they like humans, and take a while to get going?

Mitchy I don't know how you run and ride, not sure the same muscles are used but with such a physical, outdoor job as yours I completely understand your lack of motivation for running.
6 miles from me yesterday and a nice frosty but sunny 11 miles this morning. I could have gone on for another 11 it was so lovely.
I hate wearing a lot of clothes even when it is cold, but today was comfortable in 2 warm tops, long tights, a neck warmer (indispensable for me) and gloves.

I know what you mean Mitchy1inge, I get a bit like that in the winter when I've walked the dogs and been on three school runs in the cold/wet I'm always reluctant to go outside again. Dh tends to push me out and I have people to go with which helps.

horses are so much more fun in the winter! when the cold air hits their clipped tummies, and they are all fidgety from spending more time in stables than in their fields they go like the clappers Grin

I did not go like the clappers but did squeeze a beautifully sunny 4 miles plus a walk into my day - my whole self is riddled with DOMS, is it the cold? old age? Confused am not usually especially prone to that but whingeing about aches and pains is one of my other great hobbies in life so it's all good

(was practically nude today in just one pair of running tights, compression sock things for calves, a bra, a vest and the thermal more mile top, buff over ears, filthy gloves that had smears of horse poo on them - and it wasn't really much worse than yesterday, my forearms were the coldest part)

I thought of you today Mitchy as I was jogging along icy lanes in just a pair of capris and a hi vis long sleeve jumper. I had intended to wear my new (free from a goody bag) buff thingy as an extra layer but got distracted when setting out. The first 2/3 miles were rather chilly!

Ice on the roads at 3.30pm is practically unheard of all the way down here.

The postie turned up about 10 mins after my earlier post Grin

10k this arvo makes 899.5

Grin Thursday

Now you just need to remember to keep it charged up so it is ready when you go out I never forget and get cross with myself, oh no, not I

Mitchy1nge · 29/12/2014 17:39

oooooh nice watch!

I never charge mine, well not never but about once a month the battery dips to 70%ish, it's astonishing (but maybe because I run so slowly it doesn't exactly have to exert itself much to keep up? Grin)

my various gadgets get charged while they're plugged into my pc, I get very upset if something dies mid session.
10 miles from me =909.5

I wore shorts over my tights, gloves and a long sleeve half zip.
(went out with hat, jacket and buff but shed them after the first mile)

Another 2.5 miles from me and knee is managing fine, I'm so pleased! Also enjoying running with my new Garmin too.

All this talk of layers, I just have runningtrousers, a t shirt and long sleeved top plus hat and gloves and even then I'm too hot even along the coast, hate being hot when running.

3.5 dark cold off-road miles from me. Love being out on my own! Winter running tights, 2 tops, buff round my ears, gilet and gloves. I was boiling!

With sazorchards added too that takes us to 915.5

I feel like a right wimp now - 3.1 treadmill miles to add from me and I was toasty! However, since I was near the high street I ventured into Sports Direct and picked up some absolute bargains - running tights, t-shirt, shorts, long sleeved top and long sleeved outer layer for the princely sum of £21 Grin

Suzannewithaplan you run a lot of miles! Do you run every day?

I think I would prefer to wear a gilet over long sleeves to a vest under - can anyone recommend one?
I tried to have a mooch around sports direct today, but after my mooch around tk maxx and my mooch around new look I rather ran out of time Grin

Bargain postman thank you for reminding me - DS1 has been pestering me to take him to Sports Direct for some new trainers, it hadn't occurred to me that I could treat myself at the same time Smile

I wore my parkrun fleece tonight, nothing underneath and it was more than enough! I need to go to sports direct and get a long sleeve top, I only have one that covers my belly now. Didn't really need any last year as it was so mild, already had more frosty nights this year than in the whole of winter last year!! It didn't defrost at all here today!

4.5 miles from me today with my canicross club, only 4 of us but enjoyable and sparkly!

Dh's dad died today so a sucky day otherwise Sad police have told sil that there will be an autopsy Sad

Anglaise not every day, it's around 10 miles every other day.

I may add in some more running eventually but I jumped from 15 miles to 35 per week rather quickly so I feel as if I should play safe and stay at this mileage for a while.

So sorry to hear that you lost your father in law Cinnamon :(
