Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Did my 25 min run although didn't start my nike plus thing when I started so had to work out how far I went in the first 5 min using map my run just now. So may not be entirely accurate Grin. But think it was 2.54

So 460.82

emummy · 19/09/2014 10:23

4.6 this morning, finally stopped raining! So now 465.42 I think!

MrsCurrent · 19/09/2014 11:50

Hello, I've just come across this thread, please can I join in? I'm a new runner this last couple of months.

TessTackle · 19/09/2014 12:05

Every one is welcome Mrs Smile

How are you finding it?

Second club run last night. I kept up with the front runners - but not that fast - 31 mins for 5k. There are so many different standards in the club - really new runners who struggle to do the 5k up to a couple of ultra runners. Everyone seems to look out for everyone else the experienced one running with the slower ones to encourage. But it's so so much easier to keep up the pace with other people - wish I'd done it years ago!

MrsCurrent · 19/09/2014 15:34

Hello, it's not as bad as I thought and I quite enjoy it if I'm honest, I've never run before so complete newbie, had a week off sick and missing it!

feetheart · 19/09/2014 16:40

MrsCurrant - that's it, there's no going back now. If you missed it when you were sick you have definitely caught the bug :o

TessTackle · 19/09/2014 17:49

Got the bug good and proper!
Are you following a particular plan?

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2014 18:12

Hi MrsCurrent!

Wish me luck ladies, really stressing about tomorrow but I'm sure no one will make me feel bad about being slower than predicted! 12 more days to my scan then I can tell them why!

EauRouge · 19/09/2014 18:20

cinnamon, I didn't know congratulations were in order :) Good luck for tomorrow, just take it easy- you've got a good excuse for not getting a PB!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/09/2014 19:58

Thanks EauRouge! I posted a while ago I'm 11 and a bit weeks, due 8th April Smile

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 19/09/2014 20:07

Congratulations Cinnamon Someone told me that being pregnant actually helps your running. Not sure how true this was though.

Postman Yes I was for a bit. I would still like to do it, but I completely lost my way this year so taking one step at a time.

I used to enjoy going to running club, this was before I was working, but now Im working I dont get home till nearly 6 and would have to go straight out again or not come home. With 3 DCs under 10YO Id like to see them more. I plan to go back in a few years. It was at running club where someone who gave me the info about pregnancy/just had a baby and your running. She is a personal trainer so it could actually be true.

Looking forward to Parkrun in the morning. Ive downloaded a podcast with a pace of 160 BPM. According to my internet research (ie google) this is 6.7 miles an hour which is 9 minute miles. So fingers crossed it helps my speed.

EdithDickie · 19/09/2014 20:10

Congratulations cinnamon

465.4

Hi everyone, welcome to all our newbies, their seems to have been a sudden influx over the last couple of days!

2.5 miles of fast intervals to add to the total, so 467.9.

Going to my mums this weekend so my long slow run will be in a completely different place. I am unreasonably excited about this as, up til now I have always run the same route and just gone a bit further every week before turning back!

I am also excited because my race number for the Windsor women's 10K arrived yesterday! Yay!

originalpiratematerial · 19/09/2014 21:47

Warmest congratulations cinnamon! Lovely news! Well, news to me as I haven't been around much, but I was thinking of you today and wondering!

3 miles from me tonight, it was very warm (we had just had the most bonkers thunderstorm but it didn't cool things down at all).

470.9

postmanpatscat · 19/09/2014 23:33

478.4 because I didn't add my run yesterday to the total.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 20/09/2014 10:37

Parkrun today so 3.1 making it 481.5

Really enjoyed listening to my podcast, it definately helped my speed.

Have a good weekend everyone

feetheart · 20/09/2014 17:42

parkrun from me too so 484.6

ThursdayLast · 20/09/2014 17:44

I couldn't be arsed to get up in good enough time to get to parkrun this morning, so did a slow (bloody dog) 2miles from in laws to home this afternoon instead.

486.6

cinnamongreyhound · 20/09/2014 18:51

Thanks originalpiratematerial!

9.27 miles to add from me in....... 1hr 28, only 2 mins over my predicted time!! It was tough but I did it, yay!

feetheart · 20/09/2014 20:12

EdithDickie · 20/09/2014 21:09
