Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

I ran 3km this morning and then discovered my iPod nano wasn't calibrating properly so ran another 1.5km recalibrating it with the help of DPs Garmin watch and discovered I was going much quicker than I thought Grin

So that's 2.8 miles I think.

Total 53.9

postmanpatscat · 02/11/2014 17:08

2 miles to add, as I did the rest of my exercise on the cross trainer and the rower today.

55.9

EdithDickie · 02/11/2014 17:32

Plymouth 10K this morning so 6.2 miles for me. A PB at 1 hour 7 minutes Grin

HalleLouja · 02/11/2014 17:53

6.3 lovely but not so fast miles. Mojo has returned.

68.4 miles including Edith I think.

ThursdayLast · 02/11/2014 18:30

How was it Edith?

cinnamongreyhound · 02/11/2014 18:53

Well done EdithDickie! I realised there was a local 10k to me today that I missed and felt disappointed!

EdithDickie · 02/11/2014 19:19

Thanks Grin

Thursday it was brilliant - massive crowd of over 2000, great atmosphere, people cheering us on, the sun shone (forecast was dire!), I would definitely recommend it.

I now want to do another one! Got a 10k race booked in January,

EdithDickie · 02/11/2014 19:20

Oops hit post when I wasn't ready!

Also hm in April and I feel reeeeally spurred on to get more miles under my belt! I was knackered at 8km! 13 miles seems a really long way!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/11/2014 19:21

A parkrun from me yesterday makes 71.5

ThursdayLast · 02/11/2014 19:38

Over 2000 Shock

Which one are you doing in Jan? I'm doing Marazion in Feb which is limited to 500

EdithDickie · 02/11/2014 20:26

Bath Skyline in Jan (it's a series of 4, I'm just doing one). Is Marazion full?

Blatherskite · 02/11/2014 21:34

I'm back! :) Half marathon training and then half term took over for a bit and life got a bit busy.

It seems I last added miles on the 12th October though which means I can add 25.5 miles to the October total for the rest of my month (as I did another half marathon! The Great Birmingham Run in 1:59 Grin) so I make our finial total 1013.5 miles! Well done everyone!

I can add 3.1 from yesterday's parkrun too so November is now at 74.6

karatekimmi · 02/11/2014 21:43

Wahoo!! blathers glad your back and even more glad we achieved over 1000 miles! Grin whoop whoop! Well done everyone

Glad you enjoyed the 10k edith and A brilliant PB.

My DH has bought me a garmin forerunner 10 I think just the basic one but I can't get it to load on my laptop, and the garmin site is awful, every time I click anywhere - on hyperlinks in their text, on next or continue buttons it keeps taking me to advert sites but really annoying cheap ones I did wonder if it was hacked? Oh well the watch is good!!

karatekimmi · 02/11/2014 21:44

Oh and awesome time blathers sub two hours , in sorry I got carried away in the mileage total!!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/11/2014 21:46

I don't have problems with the Garmin site that is weird Confused

Good to see you back blatherskite! Glad you did you other hm, how was it? I've decided not to do norwich :(

Mitchy1nge · 02/11/2014 22:01

I sometimes have problems with GarminConnect not updating quickly or with Garmin express refusing to upload activities but nothing as interesting as you describe!

Runkittyrun · 02/11/2014 22:20

Is too late to add my 149 miles for October to Blatherskites? That would make the total 1162.5
Popped back on - everyones' so busy, it's great to read about everyones' runs. Sounds like there's a few others doing Bedford half - didn't realise it was quite so hilly! Bit worried now!

Blatherskite · 02/11/2014 22:23

Garmin is awful ever since they swapped to the new site. I use Fetch pretty much exclusively now.

I enjoyed the GBR way more than I thought I was going to. It's described as a tough course and the last mile and a half is all up hill but the atmosphere was amazing which made it a really lovely run to do. I'm even considering signing up again for next year! I watched the coverage on TV when I got back and every time the commentators described the course as tough or noted how much the elite runners were struggling, I felt a bit prouder of myself. I wasn't going as fast as them obviously but to only lose 1 minute off my PB time on that course was good going I think, especially as I set that PB on a pretty flat course.

I think that's enough half marathons for the year now though. I'd never done one before March and now I've done 5. My goal was sub-2 which I've now done twice (plus one 2:00:06 which is sooo close) so I think I've maybe earnt some quieter months for the rest of the year.

Sorry to hear you're pulling out of Norwich cinnamon Sad

LaughingM · 02/11/2014 22:41

Well done Blathers on your half and Edith on your 10k and everyone else on their runs (great and small!!) over the weekend.

2.4 miles to add from me this evening as I had to choose between running 5k and getting to waitrose before it closed. Waitrose and a very naughty microwave curry won! So total now 77. Not bad in two days!

Mitchy1nge · 03/11/2014 10:35

just 1.8 so far (usually do 2.5 with my little group but I was late and people had to get to work Blush)

would normally have another run later but calf has developed same niggle that preceded soleus strain last year, I wonder if it was just too much doing 8.5 on Friday and 10 and a bit Saturday. Want it to be ok for 7 mile event this Sunday. Maybe I should go for a 'swim' instead later?

78.8

MirandaWest · 03/11/2014 10:53

Still having iPod nano calibration issues - ran with both it and DPs Garmin this morning - ipod thought I'd done 3.23 km and Garmin though it was 3.06km. As it took me only 16:45 (this for me is v good - am trying to really push myself a bit) I think the Garmjn is probably right.

iPod is a 2nd generation one that has a receiver to communicate with a sensor I wear on the laces of my trainers. As long as it tells the right distance I really like it - just the right size and I can get it to give me notifications of distance and current pace etc. And plays my music. But if it's wrong it won't work. Having googled it could be that my sensor had got a bit disorientated so hoping it is that and having fiddled with it will try again tomorrow.

MirandaWest · 03/11/2014 10:58

1.9 miles anyway taking total to 80.7

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 03/11/2014 11:01

Some great running has been going on. Well done everyone, all the racers, PBers and parkrunners.

I managed an abominable 3.1 miles this morning. Had a stitch after about 10mins and had to stop and walk for a bit and then I just felt a bit crap for the rest of it. I have a feeling I might be coming down with a cold so that might explain it.

So total is now 83.8.

Have a great Monday everyone! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 03/11/2014 12:22

I think it depends on the gps it uses MirandaWest, I use endomondo on my phone and my Garmin and my phone always travels further! As long as you always use the same I think it's fine :)

Blatherskite · 03/11/2014 12:35

We do this at the end of club runs - compare our various devices and see how different they're saying our run has been.

It's for this reason that people who complain after parkrun that our course is long or short get a smile and a nod and no more Wink
