Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Well done everyone who raced today! Fantastic times all round and very inspiring to hear about everyone's different running journeys!

5k from this evening to make up for choosing a lie in over parkrun yesterday! So with my 3.1 and 6.2 from Edith and another from BigBumTheory I make the total… 834.28

Cardiff is the Winter run the cancer research one? I was tempted but it would be my first 10k and there is a scaredy cat part of me that doesn't want to fundraise for my first 10k just in case something goes wrong in the training. So I'm considering the Hyde Park 10k on Jan 18th instead. That would mean being very strict to keep up the running over christmas though!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/10/2014 07:04

Running over Christmas is easy LaughingM, time off work always helps me run!

My club run a 10k in may but we run the route as a club in December. This year it's 20th dec, as I'm not sure I'll be up to a 10k by then I will run parkrun in the morning and will timekeep at the 10k. Last year we did all the parkrun volunteer jobs and went on to run the 10k and then we have our runners meal that evening :) this year I'll be 25 weeks pregnant so hopefully someone else can run who wouldn't normally!

Mooogles · 27/10/2014 08:07

Hi - can I join please?

Venturing back into running aftre a break - have my kit at work and planning to do a lunchtime run - it's going to hurt! Not planning on taking a watch as I don't want to be demoralised by how much fitness I have lost.. just want to try to enjoy it...

Mitchy1nge · 27/10/2014 10:14

good luck mooogles have fun!

well done all the awesome amazing Sunday runners I am too lazy there are too many to list you all individually but everyone did incredibly well Flowers

my short morning run of 2.7something brings us to 836.99 but will be out for a dog jog soonish if there is any justice in this world etc

Mooogles · 27/10/2014 12:54

Thanks Mitchy1nge. Managed 5k, very slow but felt ok - onwards and upwards!

Have been reading back on the thread and is great to here people's stories Smile. Good for the motivation..

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 27/10/2014 13:03

Well done moogles! And welcome to the thread, all runners welcome here!

Congrats to all you busy Sunday runners - like mitchy Sunday's are mostly my day of rest!
I really couldn't be arsed to go out today, but I did all my useful jobs before DS went down for his nap so I was entirely without excuses.
So I did 5 miles in 46 mins - much easier than doing the same route in the wind last week Smile

So with moogles 3.1 and my 5 I make the total 845.1

IrianofWay · 27/10/2014 15:01

Oh my lordy! I am in agony!! I have a big problem with my upper back and shoulders - get very stiff and I end up with headaches. It's flared up big time atm and I was dosed up with everything I could take for the 10k (glad they don't dope test amateur runners Wink). Now my calves are burning and my left hip! Not to mention the foot pain I developed last week. I swear if I was a horse I'd have been put to sleep by now.....

Didnt help that once I got home yesterday I was full of energy. Did two lots of washing, hoovered, tidied the playroom and took the dog for a 6 mile walk! Nutter.

feetheart · 27/10/2014 16:25

Irian - osteopath? I get stiff shoulders/neck over time, so much so that my fingers start to get a pins and needles feeling Confused One session sorts me out every time.
That runner's high has a lot to answer for too :)

IrianofWay · 27/10/2014 16:58

Thanks feetheart - I've tried chiro many times and although it really helped in the past, I found it isn;t as effective now. I will look for a local osteopath. All the other aches and pains I can deal with as they will pass but the shoulders thing is unbearable atm.

Mitchy1nge · 27/10/2014 18:01

Ow Irian :( hope osteo helps

847.1 my dog went home without me (but with a fresh rabbit instead Confused)

standingonlego · 27/10/2014 19:52

A rare run with DH today, making the most of staying with my parents by abandoning the DSs and venturing out together. A surprisingly fast 7.5 miles taking us to 854.6.

Osteopath ares great - Hope you feel better soon irian

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/10/2014 07:29

Irian hope the pain has eased.

Welcome Moogles

Am Envy at lego and Thursday's fast running.

3 plodding miles from me this morning, followed by 10 mins of stretching. Angry HM plans and midweek running and clock changes Smile. I am glad I was on the ball enough to make my coffee before I went Smile

Mooogles · 28/10/2014 08:21

Thanks for the welcomes :)

Question - the 854.6 - is this total number oif miles by everyone on the thread?

Planning on another short lunchtime run today - will be very gentle though as don't want to risk injury running 2 days in a row when haven't been running for a while.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/10/2014 08:40

Moogles that's right. I was so pleased with myself about the coffee that I forgot to add my 3 to the total, and am now on phone so can't scroll back to see the number. Please could the next runner add it on for meSmile ?

Enjoy your lunchtime runSmile

MirandaWest · 28/10/2014 10:31

I went 1.9 miles this mornimg in the sun (really should have gone on to 2 miles!)

So with 010203 we're up to 859.5

emummy · 28/10/2014 10:32

Hill repeats in pouring rain this am, thank you all the nice drivers who made the effort to not splash me! My 2.44 plus ohone's 3 makes 860.
Welcome Mooogles hope you enjoy your return to running

TheBigBumTheory · 28/10/2014 12:21

7k last night, mainly speed work and sprints on flat.

4.3 miles and I'm out tonight again. It does help with half term cabin fever though Wink

Great to see everyone's progress.

TheBigBumTheory · 28/10/2014 12:21

So 864.3 altogether then.

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 28/10/2014 12:53

ohOne you babe, thanks for describing me as fast!

DP and DS are going out this arvo so I'm planning a longer run - I've remembered ive got a 9 mile race in December and my milage had been slipping in recent months

Well done feet and other weekend racers and parkrun PBers too.

Tess lovely pics. Glad the running paid off.

I've hardly been out since the HM on 12 Oct, due to a cold which lasted a week then a sore throat which is still lingering. DP has man flu and has spent most of the last three days in his dressing gown when not manfully stumbling into the office. So today was my first run in over a week, just a not-so-quick 5k in 31 mins. It's more like July than late October out there, I even have my washing out on the line.

869.9 altogether.

Mooogles · 28/10/2014 15:23

A rather achy and slow 3.3 miles for me today.. was so nice to run along the beach in the sunshine though - beats sitting at my desk..

873.2

emummy · 28/10/2014 15:46

Where's all this sunshine people are running in?! Was like the monsoon here this morning, in fact am now hunting for a properly waterproof running jacket! Sunny here now, but chilly

postmanpatscat · 28/10/2014 15:51

west London for me emummy - about 20C in my back garden!

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 28/10/2014 15:55

Cornwall seems to be in a cloud here today emummy. Headlights on full all day. But certainly not cold.

DP ending up faffing for about an hour and a half longer than I anticipated no surprise there then so my long run is postponed until tomorrow.
