Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

9.7 miles including a cool down walk home (slightly misjudged distance on the way home). Some bits were a bit grim in the wind, and once I stopped to stretch at 6 miles I got cold and didn't get my stride back. But I did it and that's what matters Grin

773.55

feetheart · 26/10/2014 15:02

Well done on over 9 miles Ohone and thanks for the pep talk. Thanks to everyone else for encouragement too :)

emummy - great going, I'll join you in the legs-falling-off feeling :)

Once I'd got to the venue and been to the toilet about 4 times I was fine. Met up with lots from the running club - first 'big' run I've done where I knew lots of people and it was lovely. Ran the whole thing with a friend for the first time and inspite of the course being slightly shorter than 13.1 miles (bit of a cock-up on the location of the first drinks station!) we ran at a decent pace and would have still got under 2:15 if it had been full distance. As it was I clocked 2:12:43 for 12.83 miles which I was very pleased with. I even managed a sprint finish :)

Think I need to run Bedford now to get a 'proper', full-distance PB :)

So 786.38 - next one who adds to it can drop the second decimal place but it gets me as close to 13.1 as I'm going to get today and it's damn well being added :o

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/10/2014 16:12

Grin Grin Grin Well done feet that is so brilliant. Bedford is quite hilly, so a PB there is worth 2 anywhere else Smile. There is one stonking hill that you can see from a couple of miles away if you run at the back like I do but what goes up must come down.

emummy · 26/10/2014 16:32

Brilliant feetheart, very well done. Wine and chocolate time?!

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/10/2014 17:12

Well done feetheart!!
Glad you enjoyed the experience running in a race with people you know.

Conversely there were 25,000 runners at the Great South Run today and I didn't see anyone I knew!
Had a brilliant time though running through the naval dockyards and past HMS Victory. The last two miles along the sea front with the wind blowing in our faces was "challenging" but I had started off slowly and had enough left in the tank to really kick on at the end.
Lovely goody bag with a medal, shirt and snacks.
I went round in 1:44:46 which was under my estimated time of 1:50:00 so am dead smug and pleased with myself. Now for a little sleep methinks!

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/10/2014 17:13

Forgot to add on my 10 miles!! 796.38

TessTackle · 26/10/2014 17:37

10K done - time 61.26 ! I am still reeling in shock Shock

Can't say it was fun....those hills were utter bastards but I did it and it was a PB Grin

Enjoying the first glass of wine for over a week.

Dinocroc · 26/10/2014 17:46

Hello again. I have tried to catch up on the many many pages of lovely running. I too did the Great South Run today after doing about half of the runs recommended by the Guardian 8week half marathon plan Grin. Hence guilty thread avoidance. There were soldiers with soldier hats full of jelly babies and loud drummers. I can add 10 miles now !!!! ( in a better than expected 1hr 33mins Wine)

karatekimmi · 26/10/2014 17:52

Wow, fantastic results by all of you!!

I found the hills not too hilly we have worse ones on training runs!! Now I appreciate the training my friend and I were right at the end, being followed by the reaper sweeper the whole way!! Poor guy had to listen to all our chattering for over an hour!! 1h 13m and 54s. I was quite surprised as it felt closer to 1hr 20!! I was surprised that 1h 13 was the last place, most 10k's I've done have had 1h 30+ times.

karatekimmi · 26/10/2014 17:56

Oh and 6.2 miles!!

818.78 including dinocroc and irian

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2014 18:12

Well done Feetheart, CardiffUniversityNetballTeam, IrianofWay Dinocroc and karatekimmi, some fab times today.

Good distance OhOneOhTwoOhThree, sorry I've forgotten Are you training for something?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2014 18:42

And lovely photos TessTackle!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/10/2014 18:42

Yes, some brilliant running and fantastic times today!

cinnamon DH and I (and maybe feetheart?) are doing the Bedford Half in December. I did it last year but had done a lot more running than this year

Dinocroc · 26/10/2014 19:08

My next plan is the Hampton Court Half Marathon in Feb. it's a nice flat one, not too busy, can recommend it Grin

EdithDickie · 26/10/2014 19:46

Well done Irian!! Awesome time!

10k for me as well today - 69 minutes. I am beyond proud of myself! Grin

EdithDickie · 26/10/2014 19:47

Ooh congratulations Tess!

EdithDickie · 26/10/2014 19:48

And really great running from everyone this weekend Grin

Sorry for piecemeal update, I may have celebrated surviving the 10k with some cider Grin

TheBigBumTheory · 26/10/2014 20:26

Hello all- I'd like to join please!

I've been lurking for a while-started running in Spring, and have just signed up for my 1st 10k in November. It's nice to hear everyone's experiences- very motivating now we're hitting the darker nights and colder weather.

I'm a parkrunner (pb 26 mins but it's a trail run) and run about 3 times a week, but I'm increasing my distance in preparation for a 10k race.

Anyway, from today- a wet and windy 10k- 56.33 mins on my Garmin, which I'm happy with as I'm pretty ancient by mumsnet standards. I was running after with dd1 who is aiming for 46 mins which keeps me on my toes!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2014 21:13

Fab pace TheBigBumTheory! Welcome :)

TheBigBumTheory · 26/10/2014 21:17

Hi Cinnamon and am very impressed with your running so well with your bump!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2014 21:20

No bump yet Wink

TheBigBumTheory · 26/10/2014 21:24

Bump to be Grin then..
It's been more than a decade since I had a bump..I'm so out of touch Blush

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/10/2014 21:29

Great running from everyone this weekend. Can't believe I forgot to buy myself celebratory booze on the way home. BlushSadWine

Feetheart, did you decide whether to do the London Winter 10k or not? I'm bumbling around online looking for a race to work towards over Dec/Jan if anyone has any suggestions.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2014 21:55

I think I'm a slow developer TheBigBumTheory! 17 weeks tomorrow but didn't show until 24 with ds1 :)
