Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Hello, the thread has got away from me a bit so hello to newbies and all you oldies (as it were) too.

6 miles for me today. Was so so so hard after a few days away, but glad I did it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your injury original Sad

karatekimmi · 17/10/2014 21:11

Wow, this thread is moving fast!!
15.5 miles from me this week - a very soggy run club relay on Monday, normal gossipy run on Wednesday and I just died fast run tonight - everyone was very fast! Although my phone clocked mile 2 at 4m 40s !! Ha ha I'm not sure how accurate that is!!

I'm marshalling at a mudrun tomorrow so I get a free one next year.

Sorry to hear your injured pirate

karatekimmi · 17/10/2014 21:13

emummy · 18/10/2014 10:50

2.7 miles through the woods, absolutely beautiful morning, and a tropical 14 degrees!

Oh no pirate I'm sure you're gutted. Hope you recover soon.

No running for me, ex has managed to miss his flight home from holiday for his weekend with dd Hmm

Good luck for Sunday cinnamon

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 18/10/2014 14:08

Another Parkrun from me this morning so thats another 3.1 miles 527.6

Took DS and he ran it all.

originalpiratematerial · 18/10/2014 15:56

Thank you for the sympathy Smile. I'm quite hacked off. Still, I did manage a fairly brisk walk this afternoon - can I add my 2.5 miles from that? Was thinking that it will motivate me at least to keep up the walking if I can post it on here. But let me know if you'd rather I didn't.

(I walk at about 13 mins per mile, so not that much slower than I run Blush. If that helps Grin.)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/10/2014 16:42

Was really warm wasn't it emummy! Feels like today was the first time I've done any running in daylight other than parkrun in ages and it was like summer!

How rubbish of him Morrigu!

I don't mind originalpiratematerial!

3.5 miles from me, I wasn't going to run today as I have my 10k tomorrow but as I let me friend down Thursday and she wanted to run after parkrun I couldn't really say no.

531.1

Mitchy1nge · 18/10/2014 19:21

534.6 I think (have managed a post-rave 3.5)

feetheart · 18/10/2014 22:19

3.1 parkrun from me today.

Beware Biscuits - my DS(8) ran his 6th parkrun today, smashed his PB by over a minute and a half, got under 28mins Shock and beat me fair and square (though I still smashed my PB by over a minute trying to keep up :))

537.7

ThursdayLast · 18/10/2014 22:34

Adding my parkrun too

540.8

emummy · 19/10/2014 09:43

Slow easy 5 from me so now 545.8

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 19/10/2014 10:41

Feet I must admit I have been worried before if he will ever beat me and Ill be the one keeping up, but he's not really improved much. His PB is 35.36 and Im usually at around 28.30. He is however faster than DH.

DH managed week 5 run 1 this morning. I think he got fed up with forever failing at week 4 so he had a go at week 5 and he did it.

DD2 said to me that she wanted to come to Parkrun with me. She's only 3 so maybe one day, though DD1 wants to come one day too. She's 6. Should I take her?

Anyway a windy 4.1 from me. Why does the wind always pick up and throw itself at you right when you want to do some hill work and sprint up a long steep hill?

I dont mind you adding walks Pirate while you are injured, hope you are up to running soon.

Good luck in your 10K today Cinnamon though its probably too late for you to see this. Looking forward for your result.

549.9

Mitchy1nge · 19/10/2014 12:11

hope cinnamon had a good race this morning

how are you feeling pirate?

HalleLouja · 19/10/2014 12:24

9.3 miles to add from this weekend makes 559.2 in total.

Had another fall but picked myself up and got on with it. Ran with a friend and we ran a nice 10 minute mile pace for the 10k this morning.

Hope you are feeling better pirate.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/10/2014 14:03

Thanks BiscuitsAreMyDownfall and Mitchy1nge! It was my slowest 10k ever, 1:05, but really tough going! Wind in my face for first 3 miles and really heavy under foot so I decided to walk a bit as I was getting pretty miserable! Ran again until 4 miles and had a walk then ran to 5.3 and another walk and then run to finish. It's hard to race and not actually race iyswim but if I want to do them I need to accept I can't do my usual pace. So I'm happy that at 4 months pregnant with a horrible cold still I managed to finish a tough terrain 10k. Fastest man was 45min which is a lot slower than others I've done so must have been tough.

Anyway 6.2 miles to add from me with my excuses 565.4

cinnamongreyhound · 19/10/2014 14:04

Sorry to hear about your fall HalleLouja, hope it doesn't leave you with any aches or bruises!

HalleLouja · 19/10/2014 14:20

My knee is a bit bruised which is not the greatest.

45 minutes as the fastest 10k. That is really slow Cinnamon which means your time is even better Grin

Mitchy1nge · 19/10/2014 14:28

oh my God your time is awesome cinnamon under those circumstances or any

(from someone who hasn't run 10k in under an hour since 2006 Blush)

postmanpatscat · 19/10/2014 15:25

Aw mitchy you can get back there! My PB was earlier this year at age 46, even though I was running just as often around 2006-8.

Well done cinnamon a great result under any circumstances.

A windy 3.2 miles to add from me (the weather, not my digestive system) brings us up to 568.6, first run since last week's half marathon. At the last count the fundraising was up to almost £12,000 - not bad for a team of only 9 people! As the charity only supports around 200 children and their families that will go a long way.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 19/10/2014 17:53

6 miles from me this afternoon, supposed to be an "easy run" in the lead up to Great South Run next Sunday, but it was pretty hard going.

Well done on your 10k cinnamon. Smile

New total is 574.6.

BetsyBell · 19/10/2014 18:17

Nice little 5k from me this morning - beautiful weather it was - in a forest for the most part, so sheltered :)

Well done cinnamon! The wind was tough going today - we came across it at the end of our run and had to stop.

577.7

Blatherskite · 19/10/2014 19:09

Good luck for next weekend Cardiff. I did the Great Birmingham Run today and really enjoyed it. The support was great and the medal, goody bag and t-shirt are nice. I finished in 1:59 which I'm really pleased with given the hills. It's only 1 minute off my PB!

Need to work out when the last time I added miles was before I add it on though

cinnamongreyhound · 19/10/2014 19:17

Congratulations Blatherskite and you were worrying about it!!! I got a pin badge and stained glass duck today plus the smallest Mars bar known to man, you loot sounds great :)

cinnamongreyhound · 19/10/2014 19:18

And forgot to say fantastic fund raising postmanpatscat!!!
