Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Morning all, welcome to the newbies.

Dug out my full length tights this morning and I have 3.5 miles to add taking us to 467.2. Off to yoga as well later for a bit of a stretch.

Have a great day everyone!

IrianofWay · 16/10/2014 10:16

Hi laughing. I have done the c25k many times and each time I have been slower than 30 mins even at the end. Could not increase my pace no matter how hard I tried. 5 weeks ago I joined a running clud and have already got faster. I had never run with anyone else before so it's a mjor departure.

TessTackle · 16/10/2014 12:32

4.9 on week 5 of c25k. Been repeating day 1 for weeks Blush moved onto day2 and found it surprisingly easy.

Heading to Westfield tomorrow going to treat myself to something in sports direct Grin

May I join in? 7.5 miles this morning, trying to find a new route with the darkness coming in for my 6am start. The local park is just pitch black! So resigned to housing estates and business parks....pretty dull but kinda cool seeing the place completely empty.

479.6

cinnamongreyhound · 16/10/2014 14:31

Welcome rb32!

Get a headtorch its fine emummy!! Although I have my dogs to protect me :)

Nothing to be embarrassed about if you're covering 4.9 miles in wk5 TessTackle!!

feetheart · 16/10/2014 14:35

Welcome to newbies. Everyone is more than welcome here as long as you can put up with the aches, pains, moans, groans, good runs and bad plus dogs, cinnamon buns in the oven, kit obsession talk and other vaguely running related chat :)

3.6 from me at lunchtime (as I wimped out in the damp darkness at 6am and can't get to the club tonight as DH is off to a ukelele thrash :)) Most of the aches from my long run/hike up and down hills on Sunday seem to have gone thankfully so a decent run in the sunshine was had.

rb32 · 16/10/2014 15:12

Sounds good to me feetheart!

Anyone got any races planned? I've not signed up to any next year yet but always go for a few of the same ones each year.

Mitchy1nge · 16/10/2014 15:27

my next 'race' (I will just plod round with a friend) is this our club thing 7 miler in 2 or 3 weeks, feels v personal as have a daughter of my own who's been at death's door multiple times and spent two years in hospital with anorexia and depression

then end of November half marathon in the forest should be fun

Mitchy1nge · 16/10/2014 15:39

festive forest challenge

rb32 · 16/10/2014 16:00

Poor girl Mitchy. Forest one looks lovely!

emummy · 16/10/2014 17:16

Next race I've signed up for is Balmoral in April then the Edinburgh half in May, but considering doing the Lumphanan detox 10k on January 2nd! Not committed to that though!
cinnamon not even with a head torch am I running in the woods! Would be imagining zombies and axe murderers behind every tree! Am big coward.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/10/2014 21:25

Ooo my friends are walking the half with their dog Mitchy1nge and trying to persuade me to do it but seeing there's a 10k I might go for that :)

I wussed out of my run tonight, struggling to breath so much :(

feetheart · 16/10/2014 21:27

I have the Love Luton half on 26th October and, possibly, the Bedford half on 7th Dec plus a Santa Run with DS(8) on 21st Dec and a local Boxing Day 5k :)
No idea about next year yet though the Spring Wolfrun with the MN Wolefs in April is a definite :)

HalleLouja · 16/10/2014 22:18

Feet where is the Boxing day one?

HalleLouja · 16/10/2014 22:19

Am doing Buntingford 10, cross country and probably the Fred Hughes race in St Albans in January.

feetheart · 16/10/2014 22:40

HalleLouja - Pirton I did it last year and really enjoyed it. DS did the kids race but wants to do the main one with me this time :)
Is the cross country the Three Counties Cross Country? If so I've signed up too though can only do 3 out of the 5.
Hmmm - Fred Hughes

MirandaWest · 17/10/2014 09:36

Ran a nice 2 miles - lovely and sunny out there Smile. And decided to try going faster to start with and did it in 9 min 14 per mile pace which for me is the fastest I've gone in ages Grin.

Total is 485.2

HalleLouja · 17/10/2014 10:10

4.6 miles from yesterday makes 491.8.

I don't think its the three counties one. I am definitely doing Grovelands and Trent Park as they used to be my locals.

Have you done Fred Hughes before?

BigglesFliesUndone · 17/10/2014 10:28

Got a stinking cold today (thanks Dd!) so am unsure whether to do my half hour form the half marathon plan. I'm. a bit finny about sticking to things and will fret if I miss it but really feel yuk! what to do????!! Grin

rb32 · 17/10/2014 10:33

Biggles - Miss this one, but try not to miss the next. You'll be fine.

Might do the Fred Huges myself, used to live around their and the St Albans Striders 10k a few years back was really well run.

Another 7.5 miles (to take my mid off quitting the fags!)

499.3

feetheart · 17/10/2014 10:42

Nearly signed up for the Fred Hughes last year but realised just in time that it was 10 miles not 10k. Wasn't up for that distance at the time but am tempted now. It would give me something to aim for in the dark, cold winter mornings/evenings :)

The cross country is a club thing, never done it before but loved the Wolfrun so a little mud and water doesn't scare me :)

Mitchy1nge · 17/10/2014 11:19

7 (gradually coaching my slow joggers to half marathon glory) gives us 506.3 I guess

this is such a great time of year to run, I will miss my Saturday run tomorrow :( but 6 hours of dancing tonight should make up for it Grin

IrianofWay · 17/10/2014 11:38

Pointless short wet run last night. Couldn't go until after my sons's parents evening at college and we didn't get in until 30 mins later than we should (as per bloody normal!). DH took the car home and the dog and I ran - dark and very very wet and dog was being more annoying than usual. I am going to have to give up taking him on my evening runs - can only run through town now that it's dark and as I can't run with him on the lead he always really slows me down as he wants to stop constantly and sniff/wee so I end up waiting for him whenever we get to a road that needs crossing! I swear people thought I was a mad woman - running along hell for leather in the pouring rain, thunder and lightning yelling constantly 'Come on Harley! Hurry up!!' to a dog 100 yards behind me Hmm Weekends are OK as we can go along the canal in the daylight and if he wants to lag behind he can.

originalpiratematerial · 17/10/2014 16:37

Wah, I've injured myself again Sad. Exactly the same injury as I had before the summer hols that stopped me dong HM training. Pain over the iliac crest on the left side. Impossible to run, and even walking is pretty sore.

Feck.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2014 18:47

I'm hoping to get a couple of cross countries in before I get too big, there's the Suffolk league and a Grand Prix series (which I missed the first on of because we had visitors last Sunday) which my club run at.

Sorry to hear the originalpiratematerial.

I usually give it a go, you can always turn back if you feel rubbish BigglesFliesUndone!

Hoping my breathing is better for my 10k Sunday, really want to do it!
