Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

84.24 with my 4.64 lovely sunshiny miles this afternoon. Had a proper runners' high, I did. So much so I then did some ab crunches and push-ups and a plank on the grass!

NicD12 · 05/10/2014 17:11

Is there anyone running Herts 10k race next Sunday?

IrianofWay · 05/10/2014 17:44

Hmm... not sure about Plymouth. It starts at 8.30 in the morning and I have a drive of nearly 2 hours to get there!!

Found one at Calne in Wiltshire on 26th October - starts at 11. Going to try and round up someone else from the running club. Too much of a wuss to go alone for my first race....

ThursdayLast · 05/10/2014 17:54

Thank you patscat I admit to being delighted at my time! I'm afraid the mint aero is no more Sad

How come I can run 6miles any day if the week and it barely effects me, but 10k race really wipes me out? I've been worse than useless today!

EdithDickie · 05/10/2014 18:39

Wow Thursday what a brilliant time! Well done Grin

Ha ha, yeah that would be a very early start Irian!

ThursdayLast · 05/10/2014 20:07

The route was the flattest I've ever run (in Cornwall). Makes all the difference.

feetheart · 05/10/2014 20:18

NicD - not this year though did it about 3 years ago. Is it your first time? And are you local? There are a few of us Herts/Beds/Bucks ones about.

Did do the Willow 10k today around Hatfield House - beautiful course on a beautiful day but with an evil hill to finish but...I got a PB (to go with my parkrun PB yesterday) 1:00:18 (and over 60% age-grading) Good running w/e :o :o

Fabulous time Thursday, not surprised you are knackered. I'm going to sleep well tonight, hope you do too.

I have 4.2 speed session on Thursday, 3.1 parkrun yesterday and 6.2 race today to add so 97.7

karatekimmi · 05/10/2014 22:05

I did parkrun on Saturday so that is 3.5 (including warm up) managed to run the whole thing, which was pleasing and my leg felt fine. off for a sports massage this week as I have no confidence in my leg - whenever I run I feel like it's going to go again, but sometimes I realise that it is the other leg that I think is going to go!!

My running club is doing the C25k beginners group so I've been going along and supporting then and then doing a 5k, but the last couple of times I walked back with another lady who was coming back from injury. I know I need to take it slow, but I just want to go for long run!!

cinnamon lovely scan pic, take care of yourself and your cinnamon bun in the oven sorry

102.2

cinnamongreyhound · 06/10/2014 07:38

Wow! ThursdayLast, that's a fantastic time. I need a new long sleeve top, perhaps I need to find the right races!!

How's your ankle today BiscuitsAreMyDownfall?

Well done postmanpatscat, good time for training. Good luck for your hm you've done the training so you'll be fine :)

Well done feetheart! 2 pb's in 2 days is great!!! I think Hatfield house was included in the haahooh 10k series? I wanted to do then but the ickworth one was ds1's birthday. Wimpole hall 10k was fab but tough.

HalleLouja · 06/10/2014 08:21

Nic I am running herts 10k next week.

Well done Feet. Sorry I couldn't join you in the Hatfield House one. Are you doing the Welwyn / Panshanger parkrun next Saturday? Am resting legs for Herts 10k so will probably stay at home.

Did Bournemouth parkrun and a run by the sea. So that's 7.4 miles to add. 109.6 miles. Bournemouth was very friendly. A few smallish hills.

Cinnammon its not national trust so not sure if it was a Haahooh series race. Am going to look at them for next year though.

feetheart · 06/10/2014 09:06

HalleLouja - glad you put me onto the Hatfield House 10k although the hill at the end is a killer. We are going to Panshanger on Sat. They have a video of the course on their parkrun page, it looks a nice - they have woods :)
Hopefully back to SA the following week

HalleLouja · 06/10/2014 09:35

My legs need a rest on Saturday I think there is a big hill at the end of the Herts 10k. The Panshanger one looks ace.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/10/2014 09:38

They're expensive HalleLouja as you have to enter and pay £25 donations and I didn't want to ask so I think it was £43 total for the one i did. But you get a discount for all three and a fab hoodie! I'm sure the third was Hatfield somewhere but you're right they are national trust.

HalleLouja · 06/10/2014 09:48

Ahhhh its Hatfield Forest which is the other side of Herts and not in Hatfield at all.

standingonlego · 06/10/2014 10:01

In the kitchen steaming gently from a very functional but unexpectably wet "chase after kids on bikes for school run and then onward run to collect car from garage". 3.2 miles added and an errand ticked off the list :) Takes us to 112.8 miles.

Lots of lovely weekend running folks :)

TessTackle · 06/10/2014 10:01

Really laughed at cinnamon bun in the oven

4.37 in the pissing rain, my favourite running conditions weirdo

Amazed I actually survived considering I danced in 6inch heels for 9 hours on Saturday night Grin

113.97

feetheart · 06/10/2014 10:41

6" heels ShockShockShock
That would make me 6'4" and in a cast

TessTackle · 06/10/2014 11:18

Only made me 5'7 and a half Grin

Blatherskite · 06/10/2014 13:15

Found you again! Am struggling to keep up at the moment Sad

BlueChampagne · 06/10/2014 13:25

14.24 for October last week taking us to 128.21. Missed a footpath on a new run and ended up doing an extra mile, and having to run on the road (a long gentle uphill) in time to collect DSs from after-school club and avoid late collection penalty! Last two miles (of 9) were sub 8.30 which impressed me if no-one else.

BigglesFliesUndone · 06/10/2014 13:28

I just wanted to hop in as I did my first ever 10k race yesterday. I've been running for about a year after giving up smoking and drinking and hit 50 earlier this year :( so was very proud and pleased with a time of 1 hour 10 Grin

MirandaWest · 06/10/2014 13:31

BlueChampagne I am impressed with 8 min30 pace. I'd be impressed with me if I could manage 9 minute miles.

That's great Biggles - I last did a 10k 4 years ago but not sure I'm up to doing another one.

feetheart · 06/10/2014 13:39

BlueChampagne - :o at childcare induced sub-8:30. I'm very impressed. My quickest ever recorded mile was Saturday's parkrun - 9:09 keeping up with 8 year old DS who decided he was going for it over the last mile Shock

Biggles - well done you, 10ks are hard

IrianofWay · 06/10/2014 14:53

biggles - I am trying to pluck up the courage to enter my first 10k too. Well done you! My finger keeps hovvering over the 'submit' button tosubmit my entry form. How was it? Harder or easier than you thought?

BigglesFliesUndone · 06/10/2014 17:23

I was completely terrified but had done one 10 in training a few weeks back and have been doing 4 - 6 three times a week, so thought I could probably do it Grin It was easier in a way as I was really pacing myself and doing a steady 11 minute mile for the majority of it. Was bloody glad when I saw the 9k sign and then finish line though! I burst into tears when I saw dh and got my medal. Definitely go for it, I was sure everyone would laugh at me and I'd come last etc, but in the end , although near the end I really didn't care - was just bursting with pride Grin
