Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

I've got pain in the very left side of my left calf. Even when walking.
I'm half tempted to try a gentle run tomorrow and see how I go, what do you all think?

Dinocroc · 01/10/2014 19:31

cinnamon congratulations! love little baby pics. I ordered jelly babies in anticipation of the next long run as suggested. they substituted them. for mint imperialsGrinGrin. running along shoving those in = choking to death right?.

ThursdayLast · 01/10/2014 19:43

tess I would leave it another day. You do not want to aggravate it no matter how frustrating it is. Try pilates or something low impact to help you feel like you're still exercising??

I wasn't born in April lego, cinnamon but sometimes I feel like the only person I know who wasn't, so I quite agree that it's a wonderful time to be born!

feet are you very disappointed? Gonna try for a qualifying time elsewhere?

irain that's lovely Smile

Tonight I ran 4.5 hardish trail miles (alone as my bud is on her hols). Twas beautiful despite the tide being out.

Are we counting again this October?

ThursdayLast · 01/10/2014 19:44

dino! I can only imagine his dangerous mint imperials would be, but maybe you could use them to scupper your competitors Wink

TessTackle · 01/10/2014 19:58

Sad Thursday I know you're right but so gutted! 23 days and counting ffs. I'll do some waist work and leg lifts I guess, while trying not to eat everything in sight Grin

EdithDickie · 01/10/2014 21:05

Grin cinnamon Grin

Oh Tess hope you are recovered soon.

After days of pre menstrual eating everything in sight I ran a horrible, slow and painful 2.3 miles tonight. Has made me kick myself up the bum re food, can't be feeling like that!

originalpiratematerial · 01/10/2014 22:05

A very slow 2.8 miles from me today, disappointing after last Friday's good run but hey, at least I got out in the sunshine Smile.

Cinnamon many many congratulations - what a gorgeous picture Smile.

Tess wish you better soon!

TessTackle · 01/10/2014 22:08

Thank you Edith & pirate I just got your name

I'm soaking in a hot radox bath that smells like cheap after shave and ohmyfuck it hurts. Never over doing it again!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 07:42

Lots of my club mates got their reject magazines yesterday feetheart.

My mum is very upset standingonlego as ds1 is an April baby apparently it's very inconsiderate of me Hmm he was due 13th and born 27th so hoping this ones sooner rather than later!

Thank you all!!

I'd attempt it TessTackle with the thought that you are seeing how it goes though. Just read your last post perhaps better to go for a walk if it's hurting that much just sitting in a bath.

Oh Dinocroc, that really made me laugh!!! Please don't use them when running! If it's tesco it's probably because they're on offer so the shelf was empty at ours yesterday too!

Ran 4 miles this morning with my club mate who now knows so we stopped a few times as she wanted to get my heart rate down!! Confused never mind I ran with her last week and was almost as pregnant! Grin

TessTackle · 02/10/2014 08:11

Still sore this morning, so taking DD to school and then home for some low impact videos. Thanks cinnamon

emummy · 02/10/2014 13:38

Hope you're better soon Tess.
cinnamon what a wonderful picture! Clever baby, posing perfectly!
Had a great wee run through the forest today in the sunshine, notable for the fact today is the first day I've needed a long sleeved top and tights - it was 5 degrees! Was a gorgeous day though

cinnamongreyhound · 02/10/2014 16:24

Wow, it was 11C when I went out at 6am this morning emummy!! I've been too hot all day.

TessTackle · 02/10/2014 16:42

Cheers emummy

cinnamon it's gotten up to 21 here in Hammersmith today. Sweaty and close. Yuck!

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 02/10/2014 19:07

Just come back from my first run out since Parkrun on Sat. Only 2.6 miles, but its all about the speed work and hill technique ATM. After Christmas I am going to build up the miles to a 10K again.

Sorry to see you are poorly Tess

It was really cold this morning, the car said 4 degrees when I went out to work this morning, was 17 coming home though. Im in the NE.

DH's birthday is 6th April Cinnamon. Congrats on the pregnancy, what an exciting time. Now people know you are pregnant you will never be allowed to do anything again Hmm

DH has started running now, but his foot hurts when he runs. He's only on week 3 so a little early for longer runs likely to cause injuries. He's hoping that after a look in the running shop and a chat he will be ok. The problem is £90+ on a pair of trainers is a lot to pay out if its not something to be kept up. As long as it works then I think he will keep it up so we might be going to the running shop on Sat for him. When did you all get your first proper running shoes? I didn't until Id been running a few months.

IrianofWay · 03/10/2014 11:21

Another 3 miles last night on my own with dog - pace of 5.78 miles per hour.

What as the running totals on the bottom of the posts?

TessTackle · 03/10/2014 13:46

Irian we were just seeing how many miles we could do. Not sure if we're doing it this month?

A slow 4.84 from me, no pain at all Grin

IrianofWay · 03/10/2014 16:12

Can anyone advise me please?

I want to enter a 10k race soon. There is one in Plymouth at the beginning of November. I haven't run 10k for a while but I managed 8.7 a few nights back. How stupid would it be to plan for a 10k in a month times?

HalleLouja · 03/10/2014 16:39

Irian if you can run 8.7km you should be able to run 10k.

I have 5.4 miles to add but not sure what I am adding to [lazy emoticon].

ThursdayLast · 03/10/2014 16:59

I would vote totally do-able Irian

standingonlego · 03/10/2014 17:18

Totally fine to do 10k iriam if you have done over 8. To be honest, if you can do 5k without stopping I think 10k is do-able. Getting to that first 5k is the hardest bit I think

MirandaWest · 03/10/2014 17:51

I did another 1.9 on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. (Nearly home now and body feeling v confused). Will do some 5ks next week Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2014 17:53

I think no one was sure if we were adding. I've been back over the posts since 1st and (apart from emummy who didn't add a distance) we're up to 29.44 by my calculations. That's in miles, I quite like our running totals feels like I'm working towards something!

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2014 17:54

31.34 after x-post with MirandaWest!

ThursdayLast · 03/10/2014 18:53

Oft. I did a jillian Michaels instead of running tonight. (My wedding dress has no sleeves and an illusion neckline, so upper body conditioning required). Oft.
Gonna be a slow parkrun tomorrow.

emummy · 03/10/2014 18:55

Mine was 3 miles cinnamon so that's 34.34. I didn't put it in originally as I wasn't sure if we were counting.
Have just signed up for a charity place in next May's Edinburgh half marathon - am I getting a bit ahead of myself?! Would be my first half, but refuse to start panicking until at least January!
