Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Wow! Brilliant runs everyone!

Inspiring stuff.

Looking forward to some training this week after a really fatty weekend of far too much eating.

emummy · 28/09/2014 18:03

6.2 from me today, 'twas the Loch Ness 10k. PB of 62:05 so pleased - especially as it was my brother's birthday the day before and a few drinks were had, plus me and kids all in one bedroom overnight, so not great sleep, and mapmyrun decided to totally malfunction so I ran it with no idea whatsoever of my pace! Phew! Great day though, lovely weather, and a nice goody bag

cinnamongreyhound · 28/09/2014 20:12

Well done emummy! My club mate did the loch ness marathon today :)

I don't Dincroc, but I know plenty that do over 10miles which is about 16k. You can get the belts that hold little bottles and gels. Jelly babies are what I use in half marathons as I can just let them dissolve in my cheek because I can't eat at all!! And I drink little at the stations in races. Never drink in 10k races though.

Dinocroc · 28/09/2014 20:39

Thank you cinnamon ( don't know how to make you bold!) . Water sloshes around in my stomach and the thought of chewing and swallowing while running is not a good one. Will get jelly babies and hide them from kids as 8 week half marathon plan says 18k next Sunday. Gulp! . Running when pregnant amazing!!. I think I had trouble even walking near the end...

cinnamongreyhound · 28/09/2014 20:51
  • each side of the word (without spaces) makes a word bold :) I'm only 12 weeks so we'll see how long it lasts Dinocroc*!
MirandaWest · 29/09/2014 02:17

Hello Smile am a bit out of sync (still on holiday in America) but have been keeping on running Smile.

Ran round the top part of Central Park this morning so that's another 1.9 moles.

Going onto Washington, D.C. tomorrow so will run there too Smile

Here's a picture of where I ran today

Not sure what the total is Blush

Envy Miranda I'm so jealous! My life ambition is to run in Central Park!

Right I did 4.62 so adding that to Miranda emummy & dinocrocs I think that's 32.9 bringing the total to 734.5

I tried on my bridesmaid dress again for sisters wedding in a month, yesterday. Fits much better than the first try on in July but I've still got to lose weight on my hips/muffin top! My mum reckons 7lb ffs!! Any tips?

feetheart · 29/09/2014 10:03

Tess - I had lbs drop off me when DH had to go on a low fat diet to lower his cholesterol. We tried not to make it into a 'diet' but swapped things around so sorbets instead of ice-cream (I make my own so we eat quite a bit :)), lots more fish, salad as part of a lot more meals and make salsa to use instead of salad dressing/sauce, reduce the meat in dishes like bolognaise and add lots more veg instead, etc. We also created a big pot of nuts/seeds/dried fruit to nibble on in the evening instead of cheese and crackers/chocolate. I was still scoffing chocolate and cakes outside the house and really wasn't trying to lose weight but must have dropped half a stone Shock. It made running easier too :)

TessTackle · 29/09/2014 10:47

That's a great idea feet thanks. To be fair to myself, there's been a drastic difference between the first fitting and yesterday and I've been for 6 runs in 8 weeks and all of them were in the last week!
I've just got to stop pigging in the evenings I think, a bowl of healthy snacks is my idea of heaven.

ThursdayLast · 29/09/2014 12:07

The pigging out is a difficulty here too. I feel like I'm always snacking Blush
Exciting to be a bridesmaid Tess

DP asked what I would like for Xmas. I sent him a link to a Garmin forerunner 115 Grin

TessTackle · 29/09/2014 12:15

It's so exciting Thursday the first sister out of the 4 of us to get married!
I've sent links to new running capris to mine Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 29/09/2014 12:39

Thoroughly recommend myfitnesspal for keeping a check on just how many calories are in what you're eating. Drink plenty of water and definitely stop eating past 8 if you can. There are plenty of short term quick weightloss plans of you just want it off short term, look up the marine diet for a laugh Wink or perhaps ideas! Friends of mine did it and lost a lot for a wedding but then just went back to normal, the first few days all you eat is boiled eggs!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/09/2014 12:41

My pics from Thursday's run as it seems to be working now :)

Right I'm looking it up cinnamon
I've got map my fitness and a calorie counting app that I lost a bunch of weight with before, but it took about 5months. I just want to get back inside the ten stone bracket and not look like a whale in my dress Grin

EdithDickie · 29/09/2014 19:20

Good luck with the weight loss Tess

I've got a stinking cold and am feeling rotten Sad but, on the bright side my new Garmin watch arrived today so I have a lovely new toy to play with Smile

McPie · 29/09/2014 20:41

3.5 miles after my 1st Body Pump of the day this morning, yes I have done 2 today Grin. 738

originalpiratematerial · 29/09/2014 21:48

I did 3.1 miles last Friday, but haven't been running since then as DH has been in hospital, now recuperating at home, so I am both working and doing all the domestic stuff. as well as looking after him a bit.

Anyway it takes the total to 741.1.

Well done on your 10k Cardiff - it sounds awesome!

feetheart · 29/09/2014 22:30

original - like the 'looking after him a bit' :)

Boo to stinky cold Edith and Shock at 2 Bodypump sessions and a 3.5 mile run McPie

I've got a 4.1 miles to add from running club tonight. Wanted a gentle run after yesterday's exertions but it seemed to be rather faster than was intended Hmm

745.2

ThursdayLast · 29/09/2014 22:33

McPie you're a mentalist

ThursdayLast · 29/09/2014 22:34

Taking a little running breather as my old knee injury seems tender this week.

cinnamongreyhound · 30/09/2014 07:03

TessTackle · 30/09/2014 10:04

McPie you loon Grin

5.48 shuffle from me 750.68

emummy · 30/09/2014 10:22

2.8 from me today, nice and gentle as no more races planned so am relaxing! So that's 753.48.
Hope your dh is better original.

TessTackle · 30/09/2014 10:26

I'm so sore, but I worry a day off/rest day will hinder this weight loss. Moaning here because I'm sure my friends are sick of hearing about it!

ThursdayLast · 30/09/2014 10:30

tess your weightloss will be much more hampered by an injury that stops you exercising at all.
Rest days are essential.
