Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Jedburgh so I have had to get quite a bit of hill work done for it.

Checking in with my parkrun this morning 3.1 miles

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 10:19

645.7

HalleLouja · 27/09/2014 15:07

Parkrun and 5k on Friday so going to add 6.2 miles to make 651.9 miles.

Am thinking of doing a 6/7 mile run tomorrow. Wish me luck. Not run 6 miles since my 10k in June. Have run 5.5 miles each time the last two Sundays so not a million miles away.

Was told by some runner at run club if I can run 10 miles at the end of the year I should be able to do some 16 mile race faints.

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 15:12

You'll be fine for the 6/7 miler Halle. I think even a regular 5k runner could probably push themselves to 10k without too much training and you are definitely more experienced than that!

I'm thinking of doing a local 10k next weekend. I've missed the postal sign up though, so nit committed to it.

My parkrun time was better than I anticipated this morning.

HalleLouja · 27/09/2014 15:22

Am doing 10k on 12th Oct in Harpenden.

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 15:24

I love 10k
100% my favourite distance

HalleLouja · 27/09/2014 15:26

Sign up then Grin

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 15:29

I'm too late Sad

HalleLouja · 27/09/2014 15:30

Maybe there is a waiting list.

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 15:34

I think I can turn up on the day. I'll just have to pay a bit more.
Postal entry closed.
TBH I only didn't sign up to it before because DP ribs me a bit for being a keen bean - now I realise I want race tshirts more than his respect Grin

(He's totally supportive BTW, just finds the inevitable running progression amusing)

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 27/09/2014 16:09

I'm a lover of 10Ks too. I love the atmosphere of a 10K. I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy all 6.2 miles of them. My running drawer is full of 10K tops. I also have a little glory wall of my medals.

Parkrun this morning so another 3.1 miles from me in an ok time. I might actually get to my PB yet even though I'm still 3 minutes off.

Parkrun to add for me, not a great time but my best since July at home.

I've entered a 10k in 3 weeks at our local rspb reserve, no medal but a goody bag and the chance to run round parts not open to the public, only 100 entrants allowed across 5k and 10k routes.

Whoops x-posts! 658.1 :)

ThursdayLast · 27/09/2014 17:25

That sounds lovely cinnamon, though I think I'd feel a bit exposed with just 100 runners

EdithDickie · 27/09/2014 17:53

Park Run for me today so 3.1 to add. 35 minutes which is the same as my time a month ago - but chuffed with myself because I was out last night and ran this morning while hungover and after only 4 hours sleep. So I must be progressing to get the same speed! Grin

661.2

McPie · 27/09/2014 21:04

10.8 out of tonight's run, got annoyed far too many times to count but concentrated on my own pace and done pretty well considering there was some major calf busting hills involved.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 28/09/2014 01:08

6.2 to add from today's Windsor great park 10k so 635.2.

It was a brilliant run, very hot though and more hills than I am used to. I set off really slow and was able to really power through the last 2k which was all downhill down the Long Walk with Windsor Castle right in front of us. So I smashed my PB which I am so pleased about. I made my time 1:01:56 but will have to wait for tomorrow for chip timing.
I had to go straight to work afterwards and I've only just got home now so am totally shattered, but still chuffed to bits!! Grin

Runkittyrun · 28/09/2014 01:22

Been awol from the thread but still running. Just popped onto say well done cinnamon on the relay - I was still waiting for my club runner to come in to the stage changeover, so we were both there at the same time!
The camera guy was filming my feet of all weird things! I managed to run my stage quicker than expected but our bike got a flat tyre so we lost a couple of minutes trying to sort that out!

Did my first HM two weeks ago, and very chuffed to complete in 01:57. Six months of training paid off. Signed up for another one already.

HalleLouja · 28/09/2014 10:27

Well done Cardiff. You must have been shattered at work Grin

HalleLouja · 28/09/2014 10:31

Opps it should have been 6.7 not 6.8.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/09/2014 11:36

Wow fab running Runkittyrun! I was totally dead after my leg, dh saw the cameras but I didn't notice anything! Fab half time too :)

Well down for your solo run McPie!

Glad you enjoyed it CardiffUniversityNetballTeam and well done on a pb :)

Well done on your distance HalleLouja

I did another 4 miler this morning with the dogs to keep my club mate company, that's 4 runs this week Shock

689.9 something went wrong up
Thread with adding Wink

postmanpatscat · 28/09/2014 15:23

Lots of lovely running this weekend...boy it's hot out there for the end of September! I've even got my bedding out drying on the washing line.

Fab time kitty and hallelouja well done on your increasing distance. It's amamzing what our bodies can do!

Two weeks to Royal Parks HM and had planned to do the full distance this morning, having sloped off home after 12.2 miles last weekend! Didn't work out like that as my legs were heavy as lead and I was flagging very early on. It didn't help that I ran through Osterley Park twice and it is swarming with police looking for clues/remains re missing Alice Gross and that really got to me. My DD2 is 14yo too and it was horrible feeling like I was running through a crime scene.

9 miles to add making 698.9 Who's going to take us over 700?

feetheart · 28/09/2014 15:35

Superb running Runkittyrun - I can but dream of a sub-2 hr half. If I beat my PB (of 2:28:07) in four weeks time I will be happy though I do want to beat it by a decent margin :)

Well done too HalleLouja - what's 0.1 mile between friends? In my view all hills seem to be really big :)

Have 4.5 miles to add from mad club speed session on Thursday (I went out to play with the big boys and was definitely the slowest) and 7.2 to add from this morning - the longest run I have done in a looooooong time. It featured two big, horrible hills which had me questioning my ability to finish this run let alone 13.1 miles but I did finish and got a real buzz from doing so :o

So 701.6

Dinocroc · 28/09/2014 17:50

Lots of running! Well done. After a bad week last week involving two nights out and a weekend at friends eating and drinking I'm back on it. 11.5k anda 5k park run and a very very tiring 16k this am. Can't do miles Grin. Great South run sent me a month to go e mail which inspired me . Do you eat and drink on long runs?.?. I'm thinking running on an empty stomach with no drink or snacks for nearly 1 hr 40 mins is a bad thing. But I would feel a bit silly with energy gels givenI am so slow, like someone pretending to be a proper runner Wink
