New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Melanie - that's a bit rare for Norn Irn :o

Blathers - :( You really must be ill. Take care.

Yay Thursday

cinnamon - month of volunteering to get experience of as much as possible before we start. Not so much dedication as a need to feel in control :)

Happy parkrunday everyone.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/02/2015 09:59

No parkrun for me today - we were supposed to be in transit between 2 different university open days this morning, but DS decided after seeing one of them yesterday he didn't want to see today's. I hadn't bothered packing running gear, so will do a freedom run when we get home instead.

I am doing another Panshanger/Stevenage tutorial combo next Saturday, and have invested in a large packet of baby wipes so that I don't have to brave the cold shower again Smile

I'm sure you already know most of it feetheart, my first few I was terrified but you soon feel more confident!

We had a lovely frosty bright sunny run today and I was a whole minute quicker than last week! RD next week for me and then I feel a little uncertain about how many more I'll make! 34weeks on Monday Shock

HalleLouja · 21/02/2015 11:32

Nice to see you feet and minifeet! Actually forgot to ask if you are doing Whipsinade again this year? Hopefully I can smash my previous time from last year. Well seeing as I ran a 10k faster at FH by a long way compared to Whipsinade.

HalleLouja · 21/02/2015 11:34

Wow cinnamon that went fast.

Ohone I may do Panshanger soon but am waiting for ground to dry up.

Blatherskite · 21/02/2015 13:01

I stayed in bed this morning. My tonsillitis has apparently gone but I've still got ear ache and a head ache as well as feeling just generally run down and achey. I've felt similarly bad over the past few weeks and run but I'm just not getting any better so I decided on complete rest in the hope of actually getting over it. I've got a half marathon at the end of March that I haven't even started training for so I really need to get better fast.

I've just seen on Facebook that a gang of my friends went to Lanyhdrock this morning. Did you see a load of nutters running round in flip flips Thursday? One of them might even have gone totally barefoot.

ThursdayLast · 21/02/2015 13:12

I did notice a group of people I didn't recognise who had a bit of an 'on tour' look Blathers but I can't say I noticed what they had on their feet! Would one of them have a partner cheering them in with a baby in a pram?

God, I could hardly get around in trail shoes today, so I cannot even imagine what madness barefoot would be! Although actually I think flip flops would be worse - i trip over just walking in them! It was slippy enough already.

I was leaden of leg today.

Blatherskite · 21/02/2015 13:17

Yes, the guy who likes to run totally barefoot has a baby boy who was there in his pushchair.

They all run in nothing but the sandals. Everything from trail to marathons. That's the reason I referred to them as 'nutters' Wink

ThursdayLast · 21/02/2015 13:31

I concur whole heartedly! I hope they had a good time.

Though my trail shoes are not dissimilar to sandals these days with my big toes poking out Blush off to sports direct I go!

MelanieCheeks · 21/02/2015 16:41

Pah, we're a hardy lot over here, so I did manage to make it to Carrickfergus

Met up with a pair of game gals who are doing all 19 Norn Irn runs in 2015 as a 40/45th birthday challenge.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/02/2015 17:17

Blathers I misread your post and thought you said the barefoot runner "is a baby boy" rather than "has" a baby boy Grin.

Melanie and feet would it be OK if I PM'd you later about a Norn Irn but not parkrun thing? Am after a bit of local knowledge Smile

Another sewerby parkrun for me, missing Telfords 2nd birthday celebrations and our ED last one for 6 months as he has been posted overseas (military).
I posted on the other thread wondering how far gone you were cinnamon you're doing really well!!
I think I have blathers tourism bug as I'm planning on splitting my journey back to Nottingham with a parkrun next Saturday, just to make the numbers up!! I've only done 12 so far, but have a couple still easily doable and a maybe at the end of September - depending on childcare issues!!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/02/2015 22:33

Hope you get well soon Blatherskite and get your training sorted.

feetheart · 22/02/2015 13:05

Lovely run at SA with DS yesterday. It was the first time in a while that he hasn't struggled, we chatted the whole way round, our times weren't too shabby and he beat me in the sprint finish as usual - all back to normal then :)
Lovely to see you Halle and to cheer on a first-timer from our club who staggered over the finish line with a PB by 3 minutes and said "After that I'm going to be volunteering more than running" He may have changed his mind when he got his time :)

Not sure about Whipsnade this year, it's a bit pricy. I am down for the Flitwick 10k in April (day after our inaugural if all goes to plan) and, once I've been paid, will pay for the MK 10k in a few weeks. I beat my Whipsnade (and every other) 10k time at FH too and really want to see if I can do it in a 'proper' 10k race.

HalleLouja · 22/02/2015 13:19

Me too feet. I am doing Wheathampstead but that's not a pb course. Will be scenic and I can walk to the start. Need to look at flatter 10ks.

Well done mini feet. Glad he enjoyed it more this time.

Your club mate didn't look convinced.

feetheart · 22/02/2015 13:52

When is Wheathampstead?

You do know that Luton half is on again in October and it's cheaper than the zoo 10k don't you?

feetheart · 22/02/2015 13:56

Was it the Hatfield House one you persuaded me to do last year and then you couldn't do it?
Really enjoyed that one - pretty flat from what I remember but a b***d of a hill up to the finish line Shock My 10k PB is from there though.

Blatherskite · 22/02/2015 14:35

Fitwick 10k isn't a PB course. It somehow manages to go more up hill than it does downhill and yet starts and finishes in the same place.

They're also really hot on the 'no earphones" thing and have been known to disqualify people.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/02/2015 14:49

When is whipsnade?

feetheart · 22/02/2015 14:50

I think I have runner's amnesia about Flitwick as I did it last year (albeit a shortened 8.5k version due to a traffic accident before the race) and I don't remember hills - I have had this conversation with others who know it much better! All I remember are very confusing km markers Confused

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/02/2015 15:09

Well done feet and minifeet

I think I will do the Flitwick 10K this year, and will look up Hatfield and Wheathampstead Smile

Luton half you say feet? Smile

OhOne, PM away!

feetheart · 22/02/2015 22:41

25th October Ohone :)

Also happy to be PM'd.

HalleLouja · 23/02/2015 04:19

Am doing St Neots Half but it's the day after Dh's 40th so depends what he has planned.

Whipsnade is 7th June and Wheathampstead is 17th May.

Maybe will look at Hatfield House closer to the day.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/02/2015 07:35

Hmmmm whips ade is probably too early for me then :(
