New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

This is what is says on the news page Grin Grin Grin

Whilst we have everyone logged in the correct order, you may be wondering why you have received a time of 59:59. All times have been defaulted to this. We are very much aware that this is likely to be an incorrect result for you. If you would like your correct time added to your result, please email us at [email protected] Do not worry if you did not time yourself as we will be able to make a "near enough" guess and besides, it's one more run towards your next t-shirt (with or without the correct time).
Please do not email if you did not bring your barcode to the event, we will know if you did or did not get scanned in this morning. Bedford parkrun is a barcode only event and if you did not present your scannable barcode at the finish we will not give you a result.
As we are all volunteers, please bear with us whilst we sort out the results. The results will be updated with our aim to complete and publish the final version by Wednesday.
Thank you.

Must have been a day for screwed up parkrun results as ours went horribly wrong too. The plunger on the timer didn't work so we missed the first 10-14 runners as we scrambled to sort it out. The back-up timer also appears not to have saved any of the results either. No results have gone out at all so far. Sad

I volunteered as I was running a half marathon this afternoon. Will be back next week

MelanieCheeks · 30/08/2014 20:47

Congrats Holmes! Come and join us in the waitingforredtshirt corner....

I ran happy today. Had been out knitting last night, consequently drank much less than usual. Came in 50 seconds less than last week, best time since my injury in May, confident I can get under 28 next time

holmessweetholmes · 30/08/2014 20:50

Yay - someone apatt from me who 'goes out knitting' Grin.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/08/2014 21:14

DS2 said last week that my MN name should be "KnittingParkrunner" to reflect how I spent my free time Grin (actually it's crochet)

To be fair, this was the first time I ever spent a Friday night " out knitting" and dh and daughter both guffawed with laughter at the notion.

But theres clearly something in it which improves Parkrun times, no?

holmessweetholmes · 30/08/2014 22:53

Possibly, as long as you don't knit while you're running Grin . Although I read about a woman who ran a race while knitting!

standingonlego · 31/08/2014 17:50

Found you!!!! Number 49 done, a super fast run for me trying my utmost to keep up with the pacer so over a minute faster than last week - 27.00 on the nail!!! Delighted, 2nd fastest time ever Grin

Congratulations Holmes we will catch you in the waiting for a t shirt gang soon!!!!

I am definately running the big 50 next Saturday so will supply goodles as needed :) All tourists welcome, it will be a warm up for Wolf Run on the Sunday Shock

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2014 18:33

I'll come over too if you want me :)

I saw fingersonbuzzers from the running thread at the half yesterday but I'm not sure she wanted to talk to me Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 19:13

Perhaps she was just caught up with her running buddies? I'm sure anyone from here would love to have a chat with you!

Blatherskite · 31/08/2014 20:17

I don't think so cinnamon

standingonlego · 31/08/2014 20:19

i would love to see you blathers ;) Goodies reserved for you and OhOne next week Grin

Blatherskite · 31/08/2014 20:23

Awww, thanks lego

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2014 20:33

Some people are just a bit funny Blathers.

We went to watch DS1 play rugby today. We will be doing so most Saturdays between now and Christmas (when we aren't watching DS2 play Grin). There was another couple who were obviously also supporting our team. We stood near each other for most of the match and they successfully blanked us. Eventually I asked Mrs Snooty which was her DS, and proceeded to congratulate her on the brilliant try he had just scored (genuinely, he was playing really well). She clearly didn't want to have anything to do with me, even though we will see each other every week, rain or shine for the next 3 months, and (IMHO) it would be usual to at least pass the time of day under these circumstances. Now I will just feel awkward every time I see her, even though I haven't even done anything wrong Smile.

Looking forward to seeing you and lego next week, and lego's goodies Grin

My 50th parkrun is definitely ON for Saturday Grin

Lift to hockey arranged for DS1&2 so all sorted so I can relax now - just need to source some goodies as promised Wink.

thenightsky · 02/09/2014 22:43

come to scunny blathers. I'll stand you a coffee at the end (although you'd get there 10 mins before me) Grin

Blatherskite · 02/09/2014 22:49

I'm from Donny originally nightsky, you might get held to that one one day :)

I'm all set for Northampton this weekend though

cinnamongreyhound · 03/09/2014 07:46

You're going to be beat me by a week Standingonlego, enjoy!

EdithDickie · 04/09/2014 22:31

Hello!

I'm doing my first park run on Saturday (Plymouth if anyone is down this way). Quite excited if a little nervous!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/09/2014 07:11

Hi EdithDickie! It is nerve wracking but there's no reason for it people are really friendly and parkrun is a great atmosphere, enjoy and come back and tell is how you got on :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2014 08:18

Welcome to the parkrun family EdithDickieSmile

Thanks folks! Can't wait for my t-shirt! I had thought that would be my last Parkrun for the foreseeable future Sad as we're moving to somewhere where there isn't one and dh has already moved because his job's started so I have nobody to look after the dc while I run.

But it seems not! I think I've persuaded the dc to have a go at Parkrun too. And it looks like a new Parkrun is in the pipeline for October pretty near our new home! Hurrah on both counts!

Happy Parkrunning tomorrow everyone!

AuntyDiluvian · 05/09/2014 09:29

Hi everyone - new to the thread but not to Parkrun, I've done a whole 5 runs over the past 2 or so years (having had a baby in there somewhere and had a long time off running). Did my first one last Sat and managed to jog all the way round with the help of a pacing friend. Very much looking forward to tomorrow and hoping I set myself a slow enough time last time to top it...
