New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

It was our birthday parkrun today! Chocolates at the finish and chocolates from my friend as it was her 50th run.....I think I might need to go round again to burn it off!

Our parkrun has noticeably grown since Christmas. Maybe a combination of new year resolutions and all of the pr parkrun has had recently? Has anybody else had this?

Blatherskite · 07/02/2015 17:40

The attendance record for MK is 541. You had it easy feet Wink

I really enjoyed Mile End. Was happy with my 26:14 finish given that I've been ill with tonsillitis all week and haven't run anything other than parkrun in a month. It was their 3rd anniversary too so there was cake and Paul Sinton-Hewitt came along so we all got our photo taken with him :)

Am planning on being at Valentines next week. Looks like it might be busy!

cinnamongreyhound · 07/02/2015 20:50

Well done everyone who ran, always sad to miss parkrun but mil all moved. Sil is going back up Friday so sort some pension/benefit/post redirection stuff and maybe unpack some more. Very frustrating that she insisted on taking nearly everything despite moving to somewhere with everything so now has 2 of most things and 4 vacuum cleaners. She had also not sorted anything so we had to sort, throw, pack and clean then drive it all and unload the other end and unpack what we could. Dh drove fil's car back so we can try to sell it so I had to drive back on my own and was nearly asleep at some points but it's done and now we have a T reg old banger on the drive too!

I was backup timekeeper today. It was like a dream, we had the same numbers, spotted both double crossers, were in sync with the token handing out person. And then, as I handed the watch back at the end, managed to drop it and it cleared all the results!! Good job I was only back up!! probably have a black mark next to my name now!!

feetheart · 08/02/2015 09:01

Ohone- that lake didn't feel cold (though I'm pretty sure it will this time Shock) and we did duck out of the 'showers' at the end.

Blathers - I was counting my lucky stars about there only being 439, my fingers were seizing up :)
I need the practice though as all I can hear our ambassador muttering every time I see him is "We need a really soft launch for this parkrun, a really, really soft launch" :o

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/02/2015 09:58

feet your ears might have been burning on Friday night. We were out with some parkrun friends (including the ones you met at Wimpole) who were singing your praises about starting your new one. Lots of talk about coming to support you Smile.

Oh no kimmi Grin

cinnamon sorry didn't scroll up far enough to see your post (I read it last night). Sounds like you had a busy day. Hope MIL settles into her new home OK.

Feet I might have mentioned your new Parkrun to the guy at my running club who loves parkrun. Am sure you may get a couple of Arrows for your "soft launch". Hides the rest from Feet. They won't be there honest guv

MelanieCheeks · 08/02/2015 16:39

Ooooh, don't you just love all tea parkrun facts and figures and stats and tables? I've found a new league table which lists everyone who's done more than 20 different events. I'm on 14 at the minute, so a bit more tourism and I'll be on there by the end of the year.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/02/2015 19:28

Ooh Melanie I am on 13 or 14 I think - the race is on! Smile

feetheart · 08/02/2015 19:57

:o at trying to hide enthusiastic parkrunners.
What will be will be. I know we will get big quickly and we will probably start off with a bang :o
I think the ambassador is fretting about 100s turning up for the inaugural and freaking out the general public Shock He may not be far wrong but we have started our charm offensive already and still have a bit of time to go :)
Maybe we will just feed the general public with Cake

cinnamongreyhound · 08/02/2015 20:11

I think I'm only on 5 different parkruns, a long way to go!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/02/2015 21:49

But cinnamon you do such a lot for your home parkrun (including volunteering more often than the rest of us on here) that you have no chance to go anywhere else!

I've only done two Blush
At opposite sides of the country!

One day I'll bother to get up the hours earlier necessary to travel. Ha.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/02/2015 22:15

Speaking of tourism, I will be doing Graves parkrun (Sheffield) in a couple of weeks. I don't think there are any of us in that neck of the woods?

HalleLouja · 09/02/2015 06:51

My mil used to live right by there. Its a lovely park.

Blatherskite · 09/02/2015 08:03

Funnily enough, I'm already on the Most Events list Wink

I'm on 27 now - although it shows as 26 as that list is only UK events so Copenhagen doesn't count.

feet you'll be awesome. If you need help, I don't mind doing a bit of volunteer tourism for a change and coming and helping the core team. I think I can cope with however many you get Grin

feetheart · 09/02/2015 13:31

Thanks for the offer Blathers. We have our training this w/e and plenty of time to hone our skills but if we need help/support/a calming influence I'll be sure to let you know.
Actually I think it will be fine...possibly insanely busy...but fine :o

MelanieCheeks · 09/02/2015 15:29

Darn it, I've just discovered another table - the new age category records set each week. I'd have been on it last week, except I didn't know about it...

Blatherskite · 09/02/2015 19:05

I shall come and run it then and be one of those tourists that Glenn is so eager to avoid. Bwa ha ha ha ha Grin

I can always run and help scan or process the results if needed. Or turn up intending to run and then comfort a sobbing ED Wink

feetheart · 10/02/2015 22:19

:o Blathers, best come prepared for all eventualities

feetheart · 11/02/2015 16:28

Gin would be more appropriate really, or Wine :)

feetheart · 11/02/2015 18:58

Post parkrun venue sorted today - loos, toasty warm bar, wifi, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts to start with :)
Now waiting for the funding to hit parkrunUK's coffers - ETA 15th February.
