Okay, it's not just 30 Day Shred anymore but if you would like to log your daily JM fix and get some tips and tricks from fellow Shredders, step this way.

We need to start a club, I'm 5 ft 2.5! And I also will never have willowy sleek arms. I'm aiming for as toned as possible because I have the double wave going on, which should not be happening!

I calculated my body fat percentage last night and whilst I understand it's not that accurate, it's supposed to give you a rough idea. It came out at 30%. Apparently the average for women my age is 35% and for athletes and fit people it's between mid twenties. So that's what I'm going to focus on I think, rather than my actual weight because whilst my bmi is fine at 21.6 I'm a little heavier than I naturally was pre DC and everything wobbles and I think it's just that muscle tone has all gone with having babies and it's been replaced with wobble. So hopefully the more muscle I can build under the wobble, the less wobble there will eventually be!

I tried to get up early to exercise today but both DC heard me and woke up too, so all I have achieved is creating two over tired grumpy toddlers who are taking it in turns to shout at me . It's like a two prong attack!

flowerpowergirl · 03/07/2014 07:38

Can I join you? I must must do some exercise but I am lacking willpower so maybe if I try a short daily burst it will become a habit....?? But first some advice pls. Which DVD? I have looked on amazon and there are several.

yadahyadah · 03/07/2014 08:15

30 Day Shred is a good one to begin with Flower do each level for for about 10 Days.nyou will be superbly fit at the end of it.

Tangoandcreditcards · 03/07/2014 09:29

30DSL1D2 done. Not easier, but felt better about it!

I got the 30 day Shred one from Amazon flower, (it was a fiver) but I think you can get it on YouTube too.

BustleInYourHedgerow · 03/07/2014 09:45

Ooh imogen and shadows we should start a club! Let's call it 'short and stocky', or'unfortunately, I am built like a peasant'.

Welcome flower. Have a look on YouTube before you buy ??

Ahhh at toddlers waking imogen. Will they nap? Trying to get mine to sleep so I can drink tea and read the paper do RI30

WHhat is BR Yadah?

yadahyadah · 03/07/2014 10:12

Bustle - BR is Body Revolution - a 90 day program by good old Jillian Michaels. I found all for free on Vimeo so I am giving it a crack to see what happens. So far it is very easy but having completed Shred and Ripped that is not a big surprise. I suspect from phase 2 ( there are 3 phases) it is going to get hairy. So far I am okay with having an slightly easier time of it because the intensity of Ripped is hard to keep up and I figured it better to tone it done but not stop the pattern of daily exercising that I have become accustomed to.

Btw can I join the stocky musketeers please? We can all be called Portos. I was with my sister this weekend and she said I had shrunk from our previous meeting a few weeks earlier and she even said she was inspired to find Shred for herself, but in photos I saw of the weekend I still look like I do not want to look iYSWIM. I have decided to just keep on keeping on with it but I do hate the mental dip I always take when I realise yet again that even tho I may occasionally feel like Jessica Ennis, I do not look like her .... Yet.....

Did you mean me with the toddlers Bustle? They will not nap. They are currently fighting will I try and pack a picnic bag. I might pack them in the bag in the minute! I do love them (I think) but my god they drive me mad! Neither of them sit still for more than a few minutes, they wind each other up and then hit each other, get jealous if I cuddle one and not the other! The 3yo should know better!! They're going to their dads this weekend and I am counting down the minutes! I'm going to wee lots just for the novelty of doing so without two small people trying to climb me Grin

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 03/07/2014 10:21

Oh I hear you Yadah! Even as an underweight teenager I still had wobbly thighs and stocky looking shoulders. And my bras always sink a little bit on my shoulders, no matter how much weight I lose so I never feel comfortable wearing strapless things because my arms and shoulders always look "chubby". I think it must just be the way I'm built!

kaymondo · 03/07/2014 10:37

Can I join? Just done 30ds L1D5, def starting to feel a bit more toned on arms and legs although no change in stomach Hmm.

When I started only had 21 days til holiday so what do you think I should do - the full 10 days on L1 and L2 or 7 days on each of the 3 levels? L1 is a work out, but isn't killing me so was thinking of moving onto L2 in next couple of days but not sure whether that's a bad idea if L2 is a nightmare!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 03/07/2014 11:20

Oh yes, a group of portly people attempting to exercise, huzzah! :D
Welcome Kaymondo!

yes sorry shadows, I meant you, gah to toddlers not napping.
Just done RI30 D7 L1. Woke DS2 up from nap due to elephant-like clattering during fast feet. He then proceeded to hug me during squats and sit on my belly during sit ups, all while LOOKING at and TAKING DS1's Lego. gah. May move on to L2 tomorrow, think I'm ready.

Fuckalella · 03/07/2014 12:17

Hi kaymondo! I'm at exactly same stage as you, finished 30DSL1D5 today. I'm not feeling any different yet though, somehow found today more of a struggle than yesterday Confused

If you feel ready to move on, I'd say go for it. At this rate I think I'm going to need a couple of days over...

macnab · 03/07/2014 13:06

Afternoon everyone

I completed Day 5 of Level 1 yesterday evening, I won't shred tonight because I'll go to my circuit class and I reckon that's a good enough workout and I'm too lazy to even consider doing TWO workouts in one day

I'm starting to see an improvement already, which is so encouraging. I don't know how much of it is down to diet, but either way I'm definitely a bit leaner. Today I'm wearing a shirt that I've not been able to wear for more than 4 years Smile

I just have to laugh at JM telling me that if I feel like I'm going to die, watch Anita - she will carry me through. I watch her, but she doesn't do anything and so I still feel like I'm going to die Hmm

macnab · 03/07/2014 13:12

I forgot to add, I'm 5ft 2in as well. I have always been naturally very slim, it must be genes because I (used to be able to) eat like a pig. Even after I had my first child, I was very slim. But I put a lot of weight on when expecting our second, DD was 9lbs and I was like a beached whale. I lost weight but never lost it all so I have a whole wardrobe of clothes that I've not been able to wear for over 4 years and feck all money to buy new ones

Also I'll be 40 in a couple of months so I'm finding that I put weight on easier now than I did in my 20s and early 30s.

So this will have to be a new way of life for me I guess. But I'm surprised at how quick the workout is, it IS doable once you get used to it. I think I'll just have to do it every day for the rest of my life!!

ddas · 03/07/2014 17:49

Level 1 30 day shred is on u tube.

We're a thread of the shorties doing the shred as I'm only 5'3. I'm quite petite but it's the postnatal wobbly especially around the belly that bothers me.

OwlCapone · 03/07/2014 17:53

I'm on L1 D8 of shred. I'm not sure if there has been any change but I keep telling myself it isn't going to make me look any worse!

I was expecting to hurt a lot more afterwards but I only had some stiffness in the tops of my arms after the first couple of days.

When am I supposed to move to L2?

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 03/07/2014 18:36

Are you using a heavy enough weight Owl? Are you generally very fit? That could be why it's not having much impact? If you feel it's not challenging you enough at level now then def move to level 2.

catwithflowers · 03/07/2014 18:38

30 day shred, level 2 day 4. Using 2kg weights. Finding this level pretty tough but am determined Grin

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 03/07/2014 18:39

I've just been reading about eating back exercise calories and other such things. I tend to eat when I'm hungry and have a healthy diet. What's everyone else doing?

ddas · 03/07/2014 18:57

Just trying (trying being the optimal word!) to eat healthily & not have as much sugary food. Hard as I miss my tiramisu the days kids have driven me up the wall lol

tabulahrasa · 03/07/2014 19:06

30DSL1D2

I'm 5'8...I now feel like a giant, lol

I've been shredding/ripped for about 3 months? I don't know, I did half of shred, started again then I finished it once, moved onto ripped and stopped halfway because of other stuff and so I've started again at the very beginning, but I've been doing Slimming world for about 9 months and I've lost 4 st 12 lb. Blush

I've got a few stones still to go and as I've said on previous threads, I'm mostly made of blancmange...shredding is to try and combat that rather than lose weight as the diet works fine.

ddas · 03/07/2014 19:08

Wow 4st well done!!!!

tabulahrasa · 03/07/2014 19:13

Well I'd be more thrilled if I had a healthy BMI already, lol...I usually fudge the numbers a bit because I'm a bit mortified about quite how overweight I got.

But, I'm only overweight now instead of obese, so I suppose that's good, lol.

OwlCapone · 03/07/2014 19:18

LOLOL. I am generally very unfit on account of having done bog all for years :o

I've got 1.5kg weights as that's all I could locate in the garage. My arms hurt whilst doing it so I don't think I could go heavier.

I was expecting my abs to hurt for example as those went to pot years ago when I had the children.

I find the routine hard work and I get the feeling that I've done something But I honestly expected to hurt the next day. Perhaps that's a good thing though.

Bimblepops · 03/07/2014 21:50

30DS L2,D7 done. Had planned to have a rest day, but then got bored, so did Shred after all. Not sure what's wrong with me, I never used to be like this?!

I'm 5'4.5" (that 1/2" is VERY important to me!). I was pretty much slim until university, where the combination of post-DVT injection/implant contraceptive (put on 2st in 3 months) and cheap booze changed my weight and body shape. I've never been able to regain it and now, at 40 with 2 kids, I've accepted that it's never going to happen!

Exercise wise, I first Shredded in Jan/Feb 2013 and have dabbled with it and Banish Fat Boost Metabolism since then.
I bought a fitbit flex in March this year and love it. It has really prompted me to be less sedentary and more mindful of what I'm doing.
I did the 30 days abs challenge in June and loved it and knowing that was about to finish is what prompted me to revisit Shred properly now.
I've also been doing 5:2 intermittent fasting for the past few months.

I haven't seen major weight loss, but my figure is changing - I'm trimmer and less rotund, and I'm significantly stronger.

Hoping the combination of dedicated Shred and 5:2 will help to deliver some weight loss as well as a more toned and less wobbly body!

ddas · 03/07/2014 22:09

bimble wow you've really gone for it. Hoping that's a good sign that once I finish this 30 ds I'll continue to feel motivated to do another of her dvd's.

D7 of 30ds done but went to L2 today as L1 didn't feel like much of a work out. But my god L2 is quite a big jump! Definitely felt that one! Although don't think I got the full benefit as took a bit each time figuring out how to do the new moves.
