Sorry, you'll have to take off 15 miles which I just remembered I cycled not ran ...

standingonlego · 30/06/2014 17:32

Here is hoping some of us are running this evening!

Blatherskite · 30/06/2014 18:06

I was tempted but I have a 10k tomorrow and already ran this morning....

Only 3k from me today, although up a big hill! So that's 1999.65! Is anyone free to nip out and run 35m?!

ThursdayLast · 30/06/2014 19:01

I think you answered your own question there jelly!
if you want to run 5k, I would keep doing intervals to cover the distance, then work on speed if/when you can/want.
And don't forget that to be able to run for 30 mins is a on derail achievement in itself!

ThursdayLast · 30/06/2014 19:02

Oh yeah. Sorry about the total. I'm in the bath Grin

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 19:20

I did 6.6 km at lunchtime today so what does that take the total to???

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 19:20

2005 something?

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 19:22

My DH says it's 2006.25

MazzR · 30/06/2014 19:30

Oh I'm disgusted! I slept through my alarm this am and missed my 6.00 run. And the kids on school hols and the dh working late tonight so all is against me and I won't get out today at all. Very sad about it. Funny really, a few weeks ago I would have been secretly delighted!

SpecialCircumstances · 30/06/2014 20:37

Hi
I'm not sure I can really call myself a 'runner' yet, I'm currently on week 5 of the couch to 5K and weirdly loving it! I love being able to run for 5 minutes without stopping and I feel so much more relaxed and happier if I have a run- never thought I'd ever say anything like that!

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of running tops? I generally wear some running leggings but I need longer length tops- ideally over the bum length and I'm 5'9. Any suggestions!

Thanks

briteside · 30/06/2014 20:53

welcome special and jelly !

Jelly you are already doing so well if you can run 30 minutes non-stop, that is a great achievement. I agree that you seem to know your aim so far - keep going and you will be there in no-time.

Special The 'love being able to run' definitely means you can call yourself a 'runner' Grin I always find Sportsdirect good for running clothes. Also TK Maxx...sorry I can't be more specific. (My problem is being too short, so all my tops are too long....)

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 21:24

Welcome from me too!

woolypigs · 30/06/2014 21:26

Hi can I join in too.
I have been running on and off for about 5 years but my partner I am with now is really supportive and encouraging so I am back out there and last week I did a 4.81km on Monday, then Tuesday a 10.97km (bloody 30 metres shy of 11km). That was in 1 hour 10mins but it was very warm that day.

On Thursday I brought some new trainers (well a birthday present from my parents Smile so I tried them out on Friday and managed a 10.5km in 56m36s which I am really pleased, definitely my best run ever.

Then Saturday I did a 8.7km in 50m50s but that was with a 111m elevation gain.

Tomorrow I am off out again, I have just started using the app Strava which is amazing as it has segments and you can time yourself against others.

Hopefully · 30/06/2014 21:52

I am back from my run, feeling v pleased with myself. I ran my first 5k since giving birth! 34 mins 2 secs (damn you, two seconds!). My legs hurt a bit, my stomach felt like a lead ball after too many chapatis with the lentil soup I made for dinner, and my pace was all over the shop, but I did it!

I'll read back in a moment, just wanted to share my moment of glory. Grin

Sirzy · 30/06/2014 21:53

Welcome to the new posters.

5km from me today

with Woolypigs and mine I think that takes us to 2,046 miles.

What is our target going to be for July? Is 2,500 too much?

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 21:55

I think somebody said we were going to count hours in July?

Welcome wooly you sound like a very accomplished runner and well done hopefully!

originalpiratematerial · 30/06/2014 21:55

Which suits slowcoaches like myself Blush.

Sirzy · 30/06/2014 22:02

I missed that, sounds a good idea.

5madthings · 30/06/2014 22:44

I did my first run this year today! Have been crap and stopped going bit did 5km in 35 mins a bit of that was walking but it was surprisingly ok! I do walk everywhere and bike 8-12 milesa day with toddler on back of bike so my fitness levels a're not as crap as I thought.

Oging to start on wks 5 of couch to 10k now to prepare for 10k in oct.

standingonlego · 30/06/2014 23:31

Welcome to all you lovely new thread folk, great to have you here! Fast, slow, veteran, new...if you get off the sofa, put your trainers on and get out the door you are a runner!!!

Amazing to hit the over 2000km goal - do tomorrow we start logging time. Every second counts! Every minute is a winner! If you can add an hour or more, that is pretty darn amazing. The pace is unimportant, it is how long you are moving whilst wearing your trainers :)

I hope I got that right!

karatekimmi · 01/07/2014 07:23

Sorry its a bit late but can I add my 8km from yesterday on please?

2054

cinnamongreyhound · 01/07/2014 08:24

I will add mine for this morning and we can decide on a target after :) need to think about average pace and how far we go. I can't remember who suggested hours but someone said they felt they could contribute more if it was time as they are on the slower side!

45 mins from me this morning. Not as lovely weather here as they said it would it be :(

5madthings · 01/07/2014 08:52

No weather here is not nice like they said, though the sun is out now we have rain! It was meant to be dry today!

I like this tally keeping of distance.

I just gor a new notebook as I want to keep track of my weight and measurements and I shall put in my distances run and Times as well.
