Hello all, had a completely crazy week so haven't been around much.

Some great running on here, fabulous 10k times Blathers your is fab.

Have run quite a lot this week, 10k on Monday which was horrible and hot, 7k in Thursday and then 13k this morning which included parkrun, where I might have done a pb. So that is 30k in total!

I'll add to the total in a second. I forgot to take note of previous total and can't see it on tablet! Blush

Well done on your time seymore and all your runs this week josh

I ran to parkrun, and part of the course, then ran home. I've run about 6.5km in total I think as I was tailrunning and ended up with someone who was in pain and walked the whole second lap. She then retired and I ran the last one alone, getting to the finish line long after everyone else and clutching armfuls of cones and arrow signs! At least the rain held off til I got home.

I'm tailrunning again next week so I hope the last person is a little quicker.

So that's 1759.2 up til now.

Race for Life 10k. Very happy as got new Garmin PBs of 5.53 for 1k, 9.40 for 1m and 31.13 for 5k. Unfortunately according to Garmin the total distance was not quite 10k, so I didn't get a Garmin PB for that, but am still pleased with my time of 01:03 (especially as I tried to go the wrong way at the end so added a few metres on that I didn't really need!).

So 1769.2

Well done on your pb pirate

I've heard beetroot is meant to be good for stamina and contains iron Seymore which I suppose is a good thing. Never tried it though as I only like beetroot pickled.

No running here from me. Very, very hungover and sicky and a good reminder to me why I rarely drink anymore. Plus my side that my knee and hip was sore on is still painful. I think it's that it band thingy as the whole way from my knee to my bum feels achy. Appointment for physio is on Friday but might ring on Monday to see if I can get an earlier slot. Question; if it is that should I still use the crosstrainer or not? Don't want to make it any worse but don't want to lose any fitness either.

Thanks Morrigu. Beetroot juice is disgusting (imo) - I think I'd throw up if I drank it before a run!

Wrt your achey hip/leg - keep stretching (gently) and have you got a foam roller - if so use it to roll out your IT band - agony but it does help. I would try cross-trainer but don't persist if it hurts! I find the rowing machine quite good if I have achey legs but don't want to lose cardio-vascular fitness - might be worth a try if cross-trainer hurts?

seymore I love beet root juice! The one I buy is mixed with a little apple juice and is very nice. I think studies have shown it increases stamina, and of course, it's one of those pesky 5 a day things!

Has anyone done the Marriott's Way 10K? Or doing it this year? (I'm thinking about it)

Morrigu · 28/06/2014 19:47

Thanks pirate. I do have a foam roller that I rarely use. Should really make more of an effort with it. I'll give that a whirl tonight as the pain is doing my head in. Thanks for the tips re the gym too. Dd is very poorly so it looks like hitting the gym will not even feature into my routine over the next few days unfortunately.

Forgot to log my Thursday evening run of 5k, so that brings us to 1774.2.

I'm currently researching Garmin watches and can't decide between the FR10, FR15 and FR110. Which GPS do you have and would you recommend it?

I have a 110 and love it!

I was signed up for the Marriott way 10k last year but couldn't do it in the end due to childcare issues.

It's a nice run, fairly flat and mainly off road. Still places available :) and not an early start which is always good as far as I am concerned. I may enter.

Cinnamon Do you have the heart rate monitor version? If so, do you use it?

I've got the 110, DH has the 100 with HRM. He very rarely uses the monitor. I wouldn't bother personally. I'm not sure it's necessary for anyone other than elite athletes or the very anal Wink

Yes I do, I used to but I worry a lot less about calories burned now and I found it pinched my skin between it and my bra :(

Report
Morrigu · 28/06/2014 23:34

I have the 10 and it does the job for all I need it to do. No heart rate monitor. Have seen online people complaining it doesn't do current pace and only does pace for the last lap but I don't spend that much time studying it when I'm running so that doesn't bother me. Not too bulky, picks up signal quick and it's lime green :)
