Place marking but still not running Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 26/06/2014 08:26

It's 6.4 Threedeer as calculated but blatherskite a while ago, I remember it as my Thursday am runs are always 4 miles :) so 1573.4

Hopefully · 26/06/2014 09:23

Cinnamon how long is your race tomorrow?

Hoping to run w8r2 of c25k tonight, assuming no discomfort in my ankle after two school runs today.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/06/2014 09:38

5ish miles Grin it's called the wibbly wobbly log jog. It's through bikes tracks in the forest mostly and last year there was a huge bomb hole at the end! Lots of fun and no prizes for first etc just spot prizes for random finishing positions. It's run by my local club (who I'm not a member of!) who I know quite well through the setting up and running of our parkrun. Entries on the night if anyone fancies travelling!

Enjoy your run, hot here already!

DuchessFanny · 26/06/2014 09:42

Just completed wk4r1 ... I am ridiculously happy, because I really struggled with wk3r3 ... But I did it !!!

BetsyBell · 26/06/2014 10:35

Woohoo! 9k! PB

It was crap and stop start for the first 4k (uphill) but brilliant after that.

1584.4

Hopefully · 26/06/2014 11:51

Well done Betsy and Duchess!

Cinnamon that race sounds brilliant, enjoy Smile.

It's cooler here today, and raining, so am hoping I get out later as it'll be nice to run without overheating!

sassytheFIRST · 26/06/2014 11:52

5.3k done on hill program. V hard work indeed, came in at 38 mins which is a bit disappointing. One of those running through treacle runs.

1589.7

Morrigu · 26/06/2014 12:40

Happy birthday for yesterday emummy

Well done Betsy.

I think 5.3 is fab done on a hill sassy. Someone on the previous thread mentioned getting extra points for hill work Grin?

No running for me today. Knees slightly feeling the effects of the long run the other day so using it as an excuse to be lazy. Kid-free weekend looming so I'll hit the training with a bang again from tomorrow.

TessTackle · 26/06/2014 14:37

W4 r2 today. Actually found the 5 mon runs bearable especially wearing the new dri-fit vest.

Forgot to turn my running app on though so don't know distance :(

W4r3 tomorrow and we can't wait!

briteside · 26/06/2014 17:21

Whoooooosh!! This thread moves so fast - I see interesting you guys chatting about interesting things but the conversation has moved on by the time I get on here! I will just need to check MN more often Grin

Happy Birthday emummy

My calves are not too bad but I try to practice Chi running which focuses on relaxed lower legs and avoids pushing off with your feet. It certainly makes you feel much lighter when running and I no longer plod along heavily. The secret seems to be maintaining a higher cadence than I used to and I love it, but it has been a fairly slow process to transition.

thursday YES! I was just moaning about this to someone, I have a lovely white triangle in my inside elbows! I am also sporting a panda bear face from getting too much sun on Saturday, so just ordered myself a running visor.

Good suggestion to use Parkruns as competition. I just wish that our weekends were quieter so I could fit one in! Maybe next week.

I did 7km first thing this morning. I had forgotten how nice it was to be out before the rest of the world - cool, quiet & pretty.

briteside · 26/06/2014 17:22

New total of 1596.7 km

briteside · 26/06/2014 17:23

Oh...I also wanted to ask - I am aiming to do some intervals tomorrow. Does any one have any suggestions or plans I can follow? Or do I just try random sprinting? What should the ratio of fast vs slower running be?

Sirzy · 26/06/2014 18:55

First chance to run all week and it's started raining :(

Run in the rain or wait til the morning and hope it dry?

emummy · 26/06/2014 19:02

briteside I've been doing a 40minute run containing 5 intervals of 5 minutes at threshold pace (ie quite hard but not all out) with 2 minutes jog recovery in between, so something like that maybe?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/06/2014 19:09

6 km from me at a slow and chatty pace takes us to1602.7.

Hppe you got a run in Sirzy

Briteside-apparently the NHS C25K has podcasts for speed and stamina. My running pal told me today that one of them has intervals and lasts about 16 mins. Might be worth looking at?

HalleLouja · 26/06/2014 19:28

Run in the rain Sirzy.

6.4 km yesterday takes us to 1609.1 km. I think I might be addicted to running.

Hopefully · 26/06/2014 19:31

briteside I have absolutely no idea re intervals, sorry!

I am in a foul mood, have had to admit defeat on going for a run tonight, my ankle/shin is still sore. Have had a ridiculously stressful day and was really looking forward to it. Angry

briteside · 26/06/2014 21:04

Thanks for that emummy - exactly what I am thinking of. Will also have a look for that NHS podcast, thanks ohoneohtwo

cinnamongreyhound · 26/06/2014 21:08

Sorry to hear that Hopefully :(

It's been ages since I went to training brightside but I vaguely remember a pyramid warm up, 3min 10k pace, min recovery, 2 min 5k pace, min recovery, 1min full pelt, min recovery, 2min 5k pace, recovery, 3 min 10k pace cool down but that might not be quite right, recoveries may have bee longer too!! Should say my 5k pace at training was always faster than my actual 5k pace! We also used to do min efforts and make sure we reached the same place each time on the efforts.

Blatherskite · 26/06/2014 22:14

I'm a little in shock.

I just PBd 10k - again!

I got a new PB at Whipsnade, then took another 42 seconds off on a random run last week and tonight I took well over a minute off that time!

I'm really not sure where it's coming from!

Part of me is wondering if I can do it again next Tuesday to give me a PB a week for the whole of June. The other part of me thinks I'm mad Wink

New PB set at 53:41 Shock

TessTackle · 26/06/2014 22:28

Blathers I'm in no doubt you'll do it again. Well done!

Hopefully · 26/06/2014 23:05

Wow Blathers that's brilliant! I'm sure you'll manage another - what's one more PB when you've already managed three? Wink

Am feeling slightly cheerier as have managed to squeeze my running gear in when packing for weekend away (one rucksack for me, DH and 3 DC, as we're going on the train), so hopefully I'll manage a decent weekend run.

originalpiratematerial · 26/06/2014 23:15

Blatherskite you are AWESOME!

ThursdayLast · 27/06/2014 08:07

Blathers Grin big thumbs up!
