Hello, can I join in?
I'm returning to running after having a baby last December. Have only managed to run pain-free for a few weeks. Have been doing a couch to 10k program and am currently upto 5k.

PulsesARagingEyesFullofWonder · 15/08/2014 19:54

Hello HalloumiToastie :)
I'm doing similar after having a baby in September.

Just adding my few miles to the total, so I can keep track a bit.
Am on holiday, and really not getting as much running done as I'd like.

I just did a couple of miles the other day, but I'd like to add it anyway, as I'm running at altitude right now (am in the Alps), and I was pushing a pushchair. So it was hard work!!

And I did a beautiful 4 miles today. Again, in the mountains, so hilly and rocky. And high up.

So 426.56

PulsesARagingEyesFullofWonder · 15/08/2014 20:17

...actually- that sounds more impressive than it is- I'm probably just looking for excuses for not running very far... I'm not exactly running "at altitude". Think it's about 1300m here Blush

Anyway... it's higher and hillier and rockier than where I usually run!!
And I'm not getting out as much as I'd hoped....
But I have done 2 runs.
Hoping to get out a bit more over the next week....

Hello halloumi all runners welcome!
Taking it slow and steady is def the best thing if you're only recently pain free. Well done you for getting out there!
And that goes for you too pulses don't do your achievements down.

I did 5 miles this eve, a maintenance plod really.

431.5

Blatherskite · 15/08/2014 22:39

4.6 miles from me. According to my schedule, tonight was supposed to be an "easy" 45 minutes and I certainly took it at it's word! parkrun tomorrow. I'm supposed to do 20 minutes either side to build the mileage up but I'm off to a laser tag/obstacle course/general silliness birthday party in the afternoon so I'm sure I'll make up for any miles lost there.

436.1

HalloumiToastie · 16/08/2014 10:08

Thanks Pulses & Thursday Smile. Running with a buggy must be tough!

I managed 5 k last night. The program I'm doing said run 6 mins hard, 2 mins recovery repeated 4 times. By the time I got to the fourth hard run I was shattered. The next run on the program is 50 mins easy so I'm hoping to do that on Sunday and achieve 4.5 miles.

It's 700ft up here in the Welsh hills where I'm running, and I can't run anywhere around here without encountering a hill but I suppose it's good training. I've entered for the Cheshire 10k on 2nd November.

So that's 3 Miles to add to the total. 439.1

HalleLouja · 16/08/2014 10:30

3.1 miles from parkrun today so that is 442.2 miles.

It was hard work after my Thursday HIIT. Didn't beat my PB I don't this week I don't believe but did push myself.

ThursdayLast · 16/08/2014 10:48

Adding my parkrun. 445.3

Was lovely, really busy with parkrun tourists and their families.
Slow and steady, reckon I came in around 32 mins

cinnamongreyhound · 16/08/2014 11:32

Another parkrun from me so total 448.4, 30:05 for me really want to tell everyone now I'm pregnant not just slow!

Standingonlego · 16/08/2014 20:46

Another parkrunner checking in so that takes us to 451.5

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 16/08/2014 22:10

Ran with DS on his scooter beside me today so didn't go too far but it's better than sitting on the sofa, and another 2.8 miles to the total. 454.3.

emummy · 17/08/2014 11:35

5 miles today, so 459.3. Part of the route passes a normally empty field but today it was full of vintage vehicles and caravans so much more interesting! Also nice to know the hill training is doing something, as the hill on this run used to bother me but was a piece of cake today.

EauRouge · 17/08/2014 12:23

I'm back! It was a bit wobbly and I'm aching like crazy, but I managed just over 2 miles run/walk. Calves and glutes, fine. Hips and knees, just about OK. My fitness level has seriously dropped though, I was way slower than my old easy pace and was still out of breath. Glad to be back though.

HalloumiToastie · 17/08/2014 13:10

Managed 5 miles today. Over the moon Smile

Total now 464.3

Bluebird89 · 17/08/2014 14:11

Always nice to have something to nose at whilst running emummy

Well done Halloumi

I did 7miles early this morning was so quiet and peaceful. Lovely run until a mile from home when the heavens opened and drenched me. 471.3

Blatherskite · 17/08/2014 16:06

I can add yesterday's parkrun and another 11.1 miles from this morning. So excited as I am usually in pain and complaining from 10 miles in and actually, this morning felt really comfortable - which was a shock after being at an army assault course type birthday party yesterday! I don't even have any new blisters to go with the multitude of bruises I got from the tyre ladder and 12 foot wall! My arms still ache more than my legs too!

485.5

postmanpatscat · 17/08/2014 20:42

490.5 with my 8km treadmill run.

blathers well done. My plan is to do a 10 mile run by the end of the week. Haven't gone that far for a couple of months.

Blatherskite · 17/08/2014 20:50

I'm not going to manage another long run now until the half marathon I have booked in 2 weeks so I'm glad it was a good one as I feel a bit less worried. Will fit in another 45 minute/hour runs and hope for the best. Not sure this one is going to be my sub 2 though

HalleLouja · 17/08/2014 21:49

Another 3 and a bit miles here. Flipping runkeeper paused at the start again so not quite sure how long. It was probably a bit longer than 3 miles....

493.5 miles

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 17/08/2014 23:07

Evening all. Sounds like a good long run Blathers. Which half are you doing?

Another 3.5 miles from me today. I tried out a new circular route today as I'm thinking about changing where I run as the evenings get darker.

497 exactly.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 17/08/2014 23:16

Another short run with DS brings us up to 499.

lucyintheskywithdinos · 18/08/2014 07:43

Hello! Can I join in?

I did c25k a while ago and have just started training for a 10k race! I still can't quite believe I can run as I've also lost five stone over the last two years. I am hoping that the 10k training might help me shift the last seven pounds so I'd be down to my ideal, mid-bmi weight.

Blatherskite · 18/08/2014 08:47

Welcome lucy. Come and join us.

It's a little local half marathon Cardiff, run by the guy who puts on the marathons I work at a lot. Should be fun as I'll know most of the other runners too. Then I've got the Nottingham half at the end of September and the Great Birmingham Run in mid October too :)

Am I mean? - After I got in from my run yesterday, DH was due to go out for a run. I'm not sure how far he had been planning to go but once he found out I'd done 11 miles in 1hr 49, he decided that he would do the same but faster. I guess it was some sort of macho I-will-not-be-beaten-by-a-girl/my-wife thing. But he's not been training like I have so he's not done much more than 7k recently. He managed 10 miles before he just really couldn't go any further and in about the same time too and spent the rest of the afternoon really hurting from his sore muscles. I laughed at him Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 18/08/2014 09:33

Serves him right blatherskite!!

Hi lucyintheskywithdinos.

No Sunday morning run for me as we had too much on! I have two weeks off now so can run around our activities whenever I want :) I think morning runs maybe off for a bit as ms has seriously hit me and I need to eat as soon as I wake up to not be sick and I'm not great at running with full belly!

Blatherskite · 18/08/2014 09:54

I sent him a text asking if his legs are sore this morning. He replied with "Did I ever mention how much I hate your stupid stubborn northern little legs?" which I think is a yes Grin
