kimmi that sounds traumatic. I rarely enter races but do add my details to the reverse of the number when I do.

32 mins to add from me yesterday. Thunderstorms put me off going out this morning. The flooding in west London has been horrendous, A40 and much of the underground network closed.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 28/07/2014 17:52

119:39:48 with my 29mins today. It was supposed to be a tempo run but I kept having to stop to cross roads so I might need to rethink my route!
I am at my parents this weekend so I am not far from St Albans for the parkrun. The nearest one to my mums house is Hemel. I am still a parkrun virgin though and I feel I ought to do my home one first before I start any tourism!

HalleLouja · 28/07/2014 17:56

Cardiff I am a Parkrun virgin too.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 28/07/2014 19:07

Hmm. Perhaps we should do it then. Like an MN celebratory first parkrun?

cinnamongreyhound · 28/07/2014 21:07

120:24:48 with 45 min doggy run from me.

Definitely do the parkrun! I love parkrun would recommend it to EVERYONE Grin

briteside · 28/07/2014 21:34

Hello all! I didn't want to disappear off this thread without a goodbye (albeit temporarily!)

I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 2. Running has taken a back-step to all the doctors appointments in the last week. I am hoping to get a few runs in (good for my sanity!) but am realistically expecting this to drop once Chemo gets started (In the next two weeks).

Look on the bright side, I am pretty much guaranteed a charity place for the next London Marathon!

Sirzy · 28/07/2014 21:43

OH No briteside :( I hope that everything goes well for you

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 28/07/2014 21:47

cinnamongreyhound · 28/07/2014 21:55

So sorry to hear this brightside! My thoughts are with you and wishes for the best possible outcome Thanks

HalleLouja · 28/07/2014 22:06

Briteside good luck with everything. Sorry to hear your news.

feetheart · 29/07/2014 09:02

briteside - so sorry to hear your news and thanks for letting us know, very thoughtful amongst everything else that you must have going on. Take care of yourself and I hope running provides the sanity you need.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 29/07/2014 09:08

Oh no, so sorry to hear that briteside! Best wishes for a full recovery. Flowers

Bubble7000 · 29/07/2014 09:22

I hope your treatment goes smoothly bright side. There are some really good nutritional books on Amazon to help. Tumeric, green tea

Can I join please. I'm not a born runner but with lots of sweat have now worked my way up to 12 mile runs. Need to sort out speed though in preparation for an october half. I'd like to improve upon last years half marathon time, which was my first 13 miler. Would like to avoid shin splints again though!! Using a foam roller to help with some recent calf tightness.

feetheart · 29/07/2014 09:54

Of course you can join Bubble, the more the merrier here :)
Which half are you doing? If you are at 12 mile runs now then you haven't got much more to do for distance, unlike me! I am trying to work up slowly and steadily this time (I'll be doing my 3rd half in the Autumn) and sticking to a regular plan rather than winging it a bit like the last two times Hmm

Lovely run last night with running club. Went out with the same group who I thought were a bit slow for me but it was a longer and tougher run this time and although it was still a bit slow I really enjoyed it. A new route too so I want to go out and try it on my own and see how I do.
So that's 32:30 from parkrun and 56mins from last night making 121:50:18 I think. Really hoping we are going back to miles in August :)

HalleLouja and Cardiff - am going to try and work on DH to do gymnastics run this w/e so I can come and do parkrun. St Albans is my local one but haven't been yet.

vladthedisorganised · 29/07/2014 09:56

So sorry to hear this briteside. Keeping everything crossed that all your treatment goes smoothly and for the best outcome. Love and prayers to you and your family. Flowers

Welcome bubble and MrsHuxtable!

Does anyone know of any Glasgow parkruns at all? DD and I are going up next week and I suspect it may be the only time I manage to get a run in..

postmanpatscat · 29/07/2014 10:28

Oh briteside so sorry to hear that, though you sound very positive about it (on here, at least). I'm a long-term supporter of Breakthrough (two 60k walks and three Moonwalks done and about £4000 raised) so it's a subject close to my heart.

Just back from a 48 minute run. I have stopped adding mine on since we switched to time, I just post it up here and hope someone else spots it! Back to distance next time please, although I'll spend two weeks of August on a sunbed with a daily foray into the gym.

HalleLouja · 29/07/2014 10:29

Feet let me know if it works. I am going to give it a go. As in going to try to make it.

Blatherskite · 29/07/2014 13:42

Oh briteside!

I'm sure I read somewhere a while ago that running can help with cancer treatment. Here's hoping that all goes smoothly and you're back, fighting fit and running again very soon.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/07/2014 15:33

Hi Bubble7000, a lot of us have found running as adults and weren't necessarily built for it!!

122:38:18 for postmanpatscat Wink

So Sirzy, where are you?!? Did you run yesterday as promised or do you need a kick up the butt?

Brightside will you post occasionally, even if you can't manage to run so we know how you are getting on?

Bubble7000 · 29/07/2014 16:42

Feet it's the stroud half, so flat despite it being a hilly area.

Hi postman, cinnamon, vlad, Halle and blather.

I ran two hours 15 mins last yesterday. Mix of rural lanes, tracks, fields, hills with my running partner. Planning to kit ourselves out with torches and reflective wear now the nights are getting shorter.

Bubble7000 · 29/07/2014 16:49

'anti cancer, a new way of life' book from amazon is a nutritional book that's quite helpful.

Sirzy · 29/07/2014 17:05

I ran yesterday. Just 2k but I ran.

Hopefully out this evening too

BetsyBell · 29/07/2014 18:50

A very short run from me a couple of days ago - 21 mins. Hopefully will add a bit more tonight, though I am really tired so we'll see...
