For all running chat!

Hello all, I have run three times this week and not updated the thread - was too scared of the maths. In total it comes to 2:40 which added to the last total is 40:52:40 I'm really sorry, my tired brain has not added in everyone else's minutes. (I hate working out timings!)

No run for me tomorrow morning, did a proper training session for the GER today. It was interval training on an athletics track - absolutely exhausting, I ran 10x400m that were all 1:35ish. Then at the end finished with a 1:25 - it was a killer. I was so tired that I tripped over the edge of the track and have twisted my ankle which is really sore. I don't think I have done any major damage but it hurts. Sad Anyway, I haven't recorded any of that on my garmin because I couldn't work out how to do intervals!!! Not really a running time as such either.

Interesting conversations about running with bottles, I hated it and on longer runs now use a camelback which I really like.

SeymoreButts · 09/07/2014 23:51

Thanks for the tips, I will have a go at sewing in a pouch!

A huge moan coming, I was so excited about running my first proper race in 4 weeks - 14km. The training was going well and I had comfortably done 10km a few times. But in the last 3 weeks I've had 2 separate viruses and barely been able to run. Just had a few days off and planning a long run this Sunday but I have woken up this morning with the beginnings of flu! I want to swear and scream! I don't think I've ever been ill back to back for weeks on end! Not sure I can fit the training in now, should I cancel my entry?

cinnamongreyhound · 10/07/2014 07:38

I think I'd do it if I were you SeymoreButts but don't push it timewise. Sorry you've been poorly :(

Adding to 40:52:40 with 25mins from Sirzy, 21min from FreeButtonBee, 39:55 from MazzR and my 44mins leaves a total of 43:20:35, feel free to adjust though! Needed pen and paper Wink
Need time for TheIncidentalGoat's 7k and blatherskite's 3.5 miles and Louwn's 4 miles.

TessTackle · 10/07/2014 08:40

47:15 from me, so 44.07:50

Ham string was a bit sore from doing the shred yesterday but felt like I really saw an improvement in my fitness as stamina!

If any of you saw me running in ravens court park, hi!

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 10/07/2014 10:26

Hi everyone. Just popping in to add 20 mins fast intervals from yesterday and 1 hr long slow run from today.
So I make that 45:27:50.

Sirzy · 10/07/2014 11:32

30 mins yesterday, 15 mins today (im rounding to newest 5 for ease of adding!)

So 46:12:50 I think

I'm doing whole minutes Sitzy, how did people manage before decimalisation?!?

thefemaleJoshLyman · 10/07/2014 13:13

cinnamon much respect for doing all that maths, I have real end of term brain and can barely function at the mo. Ankle quite swollen and sore but I'm sure no major damage has been done but no running for a few days, my body needs a rest anyway.

TheIncidentalGoat · 10/07/2014 18:56

My 7 k was a slow 47 minutes I think and I did 10k today (my first in years so I'm proper pleased Grin) in 63, so that's 48:02:50

I used to hold a water bottle but I think it aggravated an already dodgy shoulder so I have one on a belt now.

originalpiratematerial · 10/07/2014 21:41

Still no running from me Grin as didn't get up in time this morning and then was too busy all day.

Tomorrow!

MazzR · 11/07/2014 06:38

48:54:50 after my 6.5k this morning!!

originalpiratematerial · 11/07/2014 10:57

Went for a gentle jog to see if a week off has helped sore hip. Sadly it hasn't, much. Very disappointed. Going to make physio appointment for Monday if I can. Anyway, that's 33 mins from me. so I think that is 49:27:50 Confused.

originalpiratematerial · 11/07/2014 10:58

Brill 10k, IncidentalGoat - you are going to run a fab time when you do your 10k race in the autumn.

feetheart · 11/07/2014 11:32

Gentle, drizzly 3.5miles from me in 35 mins this morning.
Luckily the aches in my backside, and various other places, from doing 30-day press-up and plank challenges seem to have been alleviated by running Hmm

Total: 50:02:50

BlueChampagne · 11/07/2014 14:01

A paltry 66:49 from me since the start of the month, for various reasons including giving blood. Was going to run at lunch time today from work but in the kerfuffle of getting out of the door this morning in the pouring rain, I forgot my trainers - grrrrr!

BlueChampagne · 11/07/2014 14:04

Takes us to 51:09:39 if I can still add up.

Morrigu · 11/07/2014 17:29

How long did giving blood put you slightly out of action BlueChampagne?

Sorry to hear about the hip IncidentalGoat. I totally sympathise.

No running today, physio again. Hip still not the greatest so she worked on my hip and lower back today. Just have to keep up with all the stretching exercises. Sigh.

Will try to get for a run tomorrow as it's a public holiday so parkrun isn't on, totally dependant on how much alcohol is consumed tonight :)

monsterowl · 11/07/2014 17:34

I'm new and saw this thread and want to join! Have been reading through the posts and am in awe of some amazing stories of weight loss and long distances.

I work full time and run only twice a week, on a Saturday and a Sunday. I usually do around 11k one of those days and around 7/8k on the other. I am pretty slow (around 6:20 mins per km at the mo, slightly faster when it's not hot) and would like to go a bit faster but am basically too lazy to try :D Have never run more than about 12k although occasionally fancy the idea of a HM. Never been tempted to try a marathon though.

One thing I'm interested to ask: what shoes do people use? I replaced my ancient Asics this week, I got a gait analysis done for the first time and have some brand new Brooks which I'm looking forward to trying out tomorrow ...

Blatherskite · 11/07/2014 17:56

33:19 for my 3.5 miles the other day cinnamon

About to leave for Bristol. I'm rather excited :)

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 11/07/2014 20:05

Are you doing some parkrun tourism blathers? Enjoy! Grin

I discovered a Sweaty Betty shop today! Very exciting. I have bought a new vest and some shorts. I will report back on my purchases when I have tested them out over the weekend.

Knackerelli · 11/07/2014 22:32

Ooh cardiffuniversity I love going out in new gear! You'll have to let us know how the shorts check out. I have some but scared of my thighs rubbing together Blush

Did a lovely canal side 10k yesterday in I think 70 mins. (forgot to check)

No parkrun tomorrow as taking DD to a party, hopefully will get out in the evening. How are you getting on tesstackle? Can't imagine how hard it's been.

originalpiratematerial · 11/07/2014 22:35

Morrigu it's me with the hip (still)!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/07/2014 22:54

52:54:58 with blatherskite's and my 1hr 12 awesome canicross club run. Will read back tomorrow :)

cinnamongreyhound · 11/07/2014 23:57

Hi monsterowl, I have brooks and love them!

It took me a good week to 10 days to get my pace back to what it was after I gave blood last time Morrigu

Lots of sore hips, hoping physio does the trick!

Didn't add knackerelli's 70 mins so 54:04:58.

Went to the canicross group run who are budding off to make a group much more local to me. Took just over an hour to get there but the dogs LOVED it and I had great fun. Quite different terrain and scenery even that short distance away and I got quite muddy. All proper canicrosser's a too, and me and the dogs were near the front of the pack quite proud if the three if us Grin

thefemaleJoshLyman · 12/07/2014 09:51

cinnamon there are a couple of ladies who do cannicross (sp) at my parkrun, it looks like such hard work! Well done to you.

Sorry about your hip pirate, hope physio sorts it.

No running for me this weekend.
