Oh Blathers Sad

I think the Royal Parks and Windsor still have places?

Morrigu · 06/07/2014 11:33

Oh no Blathers I didn't realise you were still hurt, how gutting for you :( Hope you feel better soon Thanks

PulsesARagingEyesFullofWonder · 06/07/2014 12:06

I'm so sorry Blatherskite
I'd be crying too.
I've only just joined this thread, but I can see all the work you've put in.

Really hoping it all gets better soon....

TessTackle · 06/07/2014 12:56

Oh Blathers I'm so sad for you!! Wishing you a very speedy recovery Thanks

So anyone on the old thread remember DD being hospitalised? She's leaving me tonight for ten days with her arse hat dad and I'm freaking out! Going to try to throw mysf into running to distract myself but I have a feeling I'll spend the time lolling about with vodka Blush

Morrigu · 06/07/2014 13:07

Oh I'd be nervous too Tess, is he taking her far away? Does she have asthma or anything or was it just a one-off from being ill? On the plus side I dare say he'd be super-cautious now.

TessTackle · 06/07/2014 13:24

Portugal Morrigu :(
I don't have a valid passport so my parents are on standby just in case. This is a big test for him, though I'm not sure he knows it. I've been close to tears all day. She's never been away from me more than 2 nights.

TessTackle · 06/07/2014 13:24

It was just a reaction to the viral infection thank god!

Blatherskite · 06/07/2014 14:51

I can feel the ache in my leg - all the way down to my heel now - constantly Sad I guess on the one hand, it proves that my choice to pull out was the right one but I'm still upset.

I'm already signed up for the Nottingham half and the Great Birmingham run so I can work towards those now. Nottingham is 12 weeks away which should be enough for a couple of weeks rest and then the 10 week training plan from this weeks Running World. If I work hard, I think that could be my sub-2 hour HM. I only need to lose 6 minutes and it's supposed to be very flat.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/07/2014 16:28

Really hope he does a good job TessTackle! I can't imagine how you're feeling right now :(

So sorry Blatherskite :( get better and then give Nottingham you're all. It's really not worth causing a long term injury.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/07/2014 16:29

Well done vladthedisorganised, that's great!! Sorry didn't realise we were on a new page!

Blatherskite · 06/07/2014 17:02

I hope he manages to surprise you Tess. I can imagine that you are very worried though

postmanpatscat · 06/07/2014 17:12

What a shame blathers but sounds like the right decision.

I tried my longest run in three weeks today, as I have freaked myself out by giving up sugar and convinced myself that I have no energy any more, even though every day I prove myself wrong! I did a gentle 10.2k in 66 mins and was still 3k away from home so I walked the rest Grin Felt dreadful about an hour later, DP had to make me tea and toast while I crumpled on to the sofa. I didn't eat enough yesterday to fuel today's efforts as we were so busy and not home much.

morrigu your DD does indeed sound delightful!

TessTackle · 06/07/2014 17:30

Thank you, she's gone now and I'm a mess!

postmanpat I hope the foods helped, I don't think I could give up sugar Blush

originalpiratematerial · 06/07/2014 18:15

blathers really sorry - it does sound like absolutely the right decision but I know I'd have been gutted too.

Tess - keeping everything crossed for you and your dd.

I've got an appointment with my sports massage lady tomorrow to see if she can help with my hip (hips seem to be a bit of a thing this week don't they?). And I've decided the thing on my toe is a whitlow. It doesn't hurt now since I popped it with a sterilised needle even though I'm not sure I was meant to but it looks horrid and rubs if I wear shoes.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/07/2014 18:37

Tess big hugs to you. I have been wobbling all day because my big teenager DS1 is about to go on his first holiday abroad without me, so I can only imagine what it's like to be handing over a little one to go far away. DS is going with a friend, both are very sensible and their trip is well planned (travelling in Europe, not a beach holiday). We can hold virtual hands if you like.

Blathers hugs to you too. You know you have done the right thing but it is gutting that you had to.

postmanpatscat hope you have recovered your equilibrium now.

HalleLouja · 06/07/2014 18:56

Tess my DH took my DD away for a week as he was going away with friends in term time and I didn't want to take DS out of school plus it was good for him to learn how hard work it is.... Anyways I was really upset about her going but I survived and they had a great time.

47 minutes to add here 27:25:34 I think.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/07/2014 19:14

Just catching up on the previous page Grin

Sorry to hear about you fall pulses, hope that pulled muscle is better soon.

Amazing runing Vlad, massive well done Grin

pirate hope you feel better soon. Mmmm, germolene and TCP, lovely!

Morrigu I like your DD's style! It's not really surprising that gymnastics mess with your joints, after all things like the splits are not a natural position in which to be Grin

My hip went this afternoon again so I am sofa-bound for the evening. Contemplating a quick spin on my bike but that will probably do more harm than good Grin

Morrigu · 06/07/2014 21:45

I would like to think that he decides to prove himself to you after his previous performance Tess. Big hugs as I'm sure it's nerve wracking for you. Hope your dp is spoiling you.

I'm tempted to google whitlow to find out what it is pirate but I could regret that notion. Would you be able to fit a compeed blister patch on it or it is an awkward place? I used one on the back of my ankle when I hacked a bit of skin off shaving and it did the job nicely as otherwise my shoe would have been rubbing it.

Near 11k to add so 1:05:53 does that make it 28:31:27?? Horrible achey soreness bar the one minute about 7k when I got a rush and a smile on my face that made it kinda worth it Grin

Another one who couldn't give up sugar. I live on the stuff at times Blush

karatekimmi · 07/07/2014 07:40

Hi all, its been a while and you all sound like you've been doing some fab running!!

I hate been injured blathers and it is gutting when you've trained for something! I did Nottingham a few years ago and I don't remember any hills might have erased them from my memory

I'd be gutted with a time of 30mins and 4 secs especially after a fall!! pulses hope your scrapes are healing well!!

I have to do the nursery run now, but a 40min run, an hour and 10mins on Sunday and a 35 min parkrun to add from me, which makes it 30:56:27 hopefully!!

HalleLouja · 07/07/2014 08:10

Blathers

Nottingham is very hilly but looks like you run down the big one I remember. Not sure about some of the route but you must have to go up but maybe gently rather than a big hill.

HalleLouja · 07/07/2014 08:10

Nottingham route

I went to Uni there.

BetsyBell · 07/07/2014 09:27

I had to take a week off running so hugely behind on this thread - hours and minutes eh?

31:33:05

vladthedisorganised · 07/07/2014 12:45

Thanks everyone!

I'm telling everyone that I "just want to get around the course" but my competitive side would really like to finish around the 2hr mark. Apparently it's quite a hilly one.

My legs were surprisingly OK yesterday but feeling it a bit today, especially in my ankles - feels more like a tired muscle than an injury though. Does anyone have any recommendations for foam rollers? My local sports shop had one for sale which seemed to be essentially a big stick made of polystyrene, but the 40 price tag put me off a bit. The poor owner was trying to convince me that it was a truly top-of-the-range bit of polystyrene but I wasn't buying it.

Morrigu your post made me smile - DD (4) is a very critical coach when I attempt planks. The stern voice saying "Mummy, you MOVED!" is enough to terrify me into stillness..

cinnamongreyhound · 07/07/2014 16:43

Planning to doggy run tonight, usually a few stops with dogs so will see how it works out with time. Looking like it's going to hammer down very soon though :(

karatekimmi · 07/07/2014 17:34

yes, the rain here has been on and off all afternoon. I am hoping its at least dry when I start my run. We have a flying coach coming to the running club tonight, so I really have to go, but I really cant be arsed!! Maybe if I put my running gear on, I'll feel a bit more willing!
