Only two weeks now til the Whipsnade 10k!! Shock
How many of us are doing it? Are we arranging a mini meet up?
I've never (knowingly) met a RL MNer before!!

postmanpatscat · 25/05/2014 10:20

betsy we started with 'I wonder how long it will take us to run 500 miles?' and we did that in ten days! So now we're hoping for 1500 by the end of the month and every step helps!

Mitchy1nge · 25/05/2014 11:12

no hope of catching up with this thread so a general hello to you all

1081.1 with my five from yesterday

thinking of my Edinburgh marathon friends (real and MN) this morning and only feeling mildly sorry for myself

am going to take all summer to work back up to the half marathon distance then all autumn maintaining that and then a spring marathon I think, the last four weeks are probably the most consistent I've ever had instead of binge running at weekends. Five miles was a good turning point yesterday, it took an hour but am running 4 minutes then walking 1 all the way, but that's where I need to be to start going out with my proper running club again :)

Morrigu · 25/05/2014 11:14

Hi Betsy.

Day five of being unable to run - the longest I've gone without a run in four months - and totally fed up with it :( Couldn't even attempt one yet though and was told I have to leave it for more than a week as the teeth extractions were difficult. Strange, I never thought I'd turn into a person that gets antsy without exercising. Have a brand new Garmin that I am itching to use too and is sitting looking forlorn and abandoned in a drawer Grin

Interesting reading about when you start to think about fuelling up a bit.

Since I missed my 10k I am madly considering applying for a hm in Sept. Madly as I think I'll struggle over the summer with time to train, am away for two weeks also and have only ran just over 7miles distance wise so far.

vladthedisorganised · 25/05/2014 13:21

Forgot to add my total from yesterday: are we up to 1086.6 now?

Morrigu I've also signed up for a HM in September: and I'm just up to 7 miles too. My aim is to get around it alive rather than break any records!

AmberNectarine · 25/05/2014 13:24

Checking in with 6.2 from the Bupa London 10k. No PB for me today, was around 63 mins by my Garmin but chip time will be slower as the course was long. Struggled with sore quads and screwed up my nutrition so had a stitch from the word go. And it was absolutely baking. Ah well, at least I did it!

BetsyBell · 25/05/2014 13:29

My running friends are a little slower of pace than me which means I have better stamina (there's a lesson there somewhere...) so we did 5.3km of what felt like easy running and I could easily have gone on but the others wanted to stop and we had other things to do.

So that 3.29 miles for the total.

BetsyBell · 25/05/2014 13:39

Or indeed 1089.9

BetsyBell · 25/05/2014 13:42

Oops, didn't add ambernectarine's so that's

1096.1

AmberNectarine · 25/05/2014 14:46

Has anyone else got a nice Garmin shaped white-patch on their wrist?

postmanpatscat · 25/05/2014 15:50

No, amber because there's not enough sun!

Morrigu · 25/05/2014 16:06

Brilliant Amber! That was your second 10k this week wasn't it? Nope no sun here either. Haven't even had a chance to run in my shorts yet.

Was thinking the same Vlad. Sign up to get round it rather than worrying about times. Give me something to work for and look forward to.

AmberNectarine · 25/05/2014 16:07

Really? We've had loads here in London town. I'm rocking the good old farmer's tan as well. That'll be nice on holiday next week.

KristinaM · 25/05/2014 16:14

Checking in with 13miles from the Edinburgh half today

Feel sorry for the marathoners -torrential rain 2.5 hours into the race.

Well done amber for two 10k in one week

originalpiratematerial · 25/05/2014 16:25

Brilliant amber! Kristina - how did it go???

KristinaM · 25/05/2014 16:50

Well thanks pirate, I ran 1:53:07, which was my target time . The pace wasn't too fast so I quite enjoyed it -well all except the last couple of miles, which are always a bit of a slog.

I'm also pleased that my second half was only 30 secs slower than my first half. Not a negative split as I'd planned for , but not bad .

I'd definitely try another HM - that was my first.

AmberNectarine · 25/05/2014 17:14

That's an awesome time Kristina well done you!!

KristinaM · 25/05/2014 17:17

Thanks amber Smile

originalpiratematerial · 25/05/2014 18:02

That sounds absolutely brilliant, Kristina! I'm in awe!

Blatherskite · 25/05/2014 18:19

I'm doing the Whipsnade 10k too CardiffUniversityNetballTeam

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/05/2014 18:34

Well done Kristina and amber - I had RL friends in both of your races today Smile (and did the BUPA 10K last year).

orange glad to hear your recovery is going well

I walked 1 mile to my parkrun park, ran 3.1 miles in the parkrun park (but not quite the parkrun route as I started in a different place) and walked 1.15 miles back (different route home). That's the furthest my little legs have been since my HM/possible stress fracture 3 weeks ago Smile

So 1096.1 + Kristina's 13.1 and my 3.1 = 1112.3

postmanpatscat · 25/05/2014 18:41

Brilliant job Kristina!

Another 4.5 miles from me today making 1116.8 miles so far.

PolkaSpottyDotty · 25/05/2014 20:50

Well done Amber and Kristina!

I've got 5.7 miles to add. Feeling pretty pleased with myself as this is the farthest I've run, and I did it in under an hour.

1122.5

postmanpatscat · 25/05/2014 21:37

Fantastic run polka! Next goal 10k?

cinnamongreyhound · 25/05/2014 22:18

Well done AmberNectarine, KristinaM and polkaSpottyDotty!!

No running for me today and feeling sorry for myself probably stupidly. Four of the ladies from my club, 2 of whom I run regularly with, went for a run today and I wasn't invited. I feel sad they didn't ask and then that started to worry that I've imposed myself on other runs. Plus it looks like our normal Monday doggy run is off too :(
