Contortionist, I started out with mostly trail running - I love it. It's better in wetter weather when the ground is soft rather than the middle of summer when it dries out and is hard and uneven and prone to twisting ankles. I've kind of got used to the faster pace of road running now though and find it harder to go back to trail. TBH, looking at a map would be the best thing! I used google earth to find routes, and also googled other peoples running routes. Google pedometer is also handy for planning routes on distance.
Well done Sirzy and Melliebobs, no way I could have done it in that heat - you both did brilliantly.
I've turned off the progress updates on my runkeeper app - accidentally at first, and immediately shaved 2.5 minutes or so off my PB for 10k! I've found I run better without them. I'm more relaxed and happy to keep plodding along, whereas with them I was constantly thinking about pace and trying to push too hard and struggling and actually running slower!
Ran 7.3 miles in some new trainers today, as old ones have gone so flat. I have HUGE feet, and these were actually dh's, which he bought, wore out for one run before remembering he prefers the sofa. They are nike lunaglide. They felt lovely, like running on air, after my old nike freeruns which have been run to death. I have a blister on the arch of my foot though now :( The insole seems to be rubbing, and they aren't as airy as my freeruns and my feet got hot.
Total now 884.5 (did 4.2 on sunday also first thing in that heat before turning home, which I didn't post)
